Dr Carroll is great . explains things in a way that can be easily understood, doesn't try to push things on you which other dentists do . she recommend exactly what I needed . the reason for the bad review is directly a result of the front desk . it's almost impossible to get a call back . no one ever picks up the phone . I had to call in multiple times to finally get through, but all in vane , was put on hold and after 5 min waiting I was hung up on . I've been a patient there since before she sold her practice and since the sale things have gone downhill. I put up with the nonsense at the front desk only because Dr Carroll is in my opinion the best dentist I've ever dealt with . I just hope the new management steps up and fixes the mess of a reception team currently working there . Dr Carroll deserves better . read more

I do NOT recommend using Dr. Janette Carroll as a dentist: The front desk is chaotic and unorganized. They do not return calls. They are never there to greet one when one arrives. The first time I was there, Dr. Carroll told me she was grumpy and stressed out. The receptionist told me she was stressed out as well. I find it unprofessional for a doctor or employee to tell a patient she is grumpy. In every appointment I felt rushed and didn't get my questions answered. I asked for a treatment plan because there are alot of problems in my mouth. Dr. Carroll didn't have time to go over what needed to be done, and said she would call me. She never did. I had 3 teeth with cavities filled. One had to be extracted soon thereafter (by a new dentist). The new dentist told me I had a big cavity in one of the teeth Dr. Carroll said she had filled. Dr. Carroll also blatantly lied about me in her chart notes, stating that I had said something I never said. The 3 times i was there were very unpleasant and I did not feel taken care of regarding my dental issues. I do not trust Dr. Carroll and do not recommend her services. read more

Dr. Carroll is one of the is not only a fine practitioner but actually listens and cares about her clients as people not just appointment times to be billed. Dr, Carroll takes a patient centered, holistic approach to her practice and provides options in her treatment plans. Her staff always has called me back within the day to answer questions , is courteous and attentive. read more

Additional update. A cap they put on a tooth about a year ago just popped off while I was flossing. Please beware of the work they do.

Dr. Carroll dealt with many things which had been troubling me. I received excellent oral hygiene treatment and education. I had questionable and damaging old fillings replaced with high quality materials to an expert result. My overall health improved as a result of my oral health being well taken care of. After moving to Mount Vernon a couple of years ago, I finally found a great dentist in Dr. Carroll. Unfortunately, I am now on the search again. I've recently had an implant and it is now ready for the tooth to be installed. I've called 4 times, at different times during the week, and despite my specific messages, I've heard nothing back. I'd already been feeling unheard after my request to retain a gold crown that had to be replaced was not honored and my phone call after that appointment also went unanswered. I came in for a cleaning and was surprised with charges for additional services. I was also recommended $1000's worth of unnecessary dental work. I felt like a mark, not a patient. The staff was hostile when I asked questions regarding my bill. read more

We recently moved to Mount Vernon and after much research decided to go with Dr. Carroll as our dentist. We couldn't be happier with our decision. Dr. Carroll is a gentle and wonderful dentist who has up-to-date technology. She takes her time and gives you complete information of what she will be doing and other options available if necessary. She recommended the Hydrofloss and it is wonderful, so much better than the Water pik I used to use. It does a great job keeping the gums healthy and is extremely easy to use. I highly recommend it! If you're looking for a truly excellent dentist in Mount Vernon, Dr. Carroll is a great choice. She's got tons of experience and training in a bunch of procedures, from regular checkups and exams to cosmetic dentistry and even Invisalign braces and dental implants. One cool technology she offers is Velscope oral cancer screening. The Velscope machine uses this special blue light which can detect the earliest signs of cancer before they can be seen with the naked eye. Seeing as oral cancer is a big concern these days (it's very common, and many people who get it end up losing parts of their face and jaw). I've seen the effects of oral cancer firsthand, so getting a regular Velscope screening is really important to me. One of the other great things about Dr. Carroll is the way they make every patient feel comfortable and cared for. Even if you haven't seen a dentist in a while, she's not going to judge you. She's very thorough in her exams, and will make recommendations for you based on your budget and timeframe. If you don't have insurance, she has payment plans that can make it affordable, and she also accepts credit cards. I'd recommend Dr. Carroll to anyone living out in the Skagit Valley. Dr. Carol talked me into removing the silver from two of my teeth. I did one and had the silver replaced with porcelain. I had planned on doing the other one I could afford it. 18 months later the porcelain crack and a tooth fell apart. I then had to pay for a crown. After setting the crown she asked me to come in if it needed to be filed down. I came in the next day after the numbness wore off and had them file the crown down. For this I got an additional bill of $113. I had to go in and complain to get it taken off my bill. I was told however that no matter whether it was my fault or the doctor's fault I would always be charged for sitting in her chair. I can't do business with a professional who has this philosophy. My other tooth that still has the silver in it is doing just fine. read more

I went to Dr. Carroll as a new patient and was having some tooth pain, and sensitivity. After taking some x-rays and a short exam, she said I do not have any cavities but I need to get braces. Not 30 seconds later, the nurse and some office person came in to see how I was going to be paying for my $7000 Invisalign braces! I told them I don't want braces and certainly don't have 7 grand in my pocket. Dr. Carroll told me the only way to get my teeth to stop hurting was to get braces. She didn't hear me out or talk about anything except invisalign! Well today I spent almost 4 hours in another dentists office getting a root canal performed to save what was left of my decaying tooth which could have been avoided had Dr. Carroll been a little more thorough and had seen the cavity! Just had my teeth cleaned by one of Dr. Carroll's new dental hygenists...he seemed to be technically competent but needs to work on his people skills. He was fairly condescending when discussing my flossing and brushing. I really liked the previous hygienist but have not seen her for several months...she was also technically competent but could convey her criticism in a friendly, even warm way. People skills count for so much in the medical professions. read more
