30 minutes before closing time I signed into their system in the empty lobby. It had just accepted…read moreme and told me there was no current activity and 0 minutes wait time. A minute later someone came out and said no, they wouldn't take me as they had three more appointments. I pointed out no one was there except me. He shrugged and just tried to give me a card to schedule an appointment. I said I have the app and went out to my car. I happened to end up on my phone in their parking lot for an hour. No one showed up during that time. This location has all the blinds closed for all the windows and door. The door and blinds never opened. At 11:52 I tried the door only to find they had locked it after sending me away. So, they lied about appointments, otherwise why lock the door, and denied service even after their automated system scheduled me in without even asking what I was there for, namely a simple quick urine sample and blood draw. Now many of the locations in central Connecticut have been denying walk ins within 10-15 minutes of closing this year, but usually there is at least one patient waiting or walking in. But half an hour? With no patients? Plus, it had snowed overnight for the first time in a while so some people are less likely to drive and show up, and no one has the courtesy to cancel a lab appointment since they know they are supposed to take walk-ins if patients aren't there. Two stars for the automated system that took 30 seconds to sign me in, tell me the status of a 0 minute wait time, and that the location would be open for another 30 minutes. System has been improving since its inception. Zero stars for the staff that lied, denied service with no reason, and locked the front door behind me never to open it again the remainder of the 30 minutes they were "open." It's now 12:30, they've been officially closed for 30 minutes, and not once since they turned me away has that door opened, nor has anyone shown up to the parking lot or building to try and enter their door.

I would not recommend this location. If you have the option, I suggest visiting a different Quest…read moreDiagnostics office. The staff member who drew my blood was unprofessional, the facility did not appear to be well maintained, and the overall quality of care fell below my expectations. I hope the management addresses these issues by improving the facility and ensuring staff receive the training and support needed to provide a more professional and positive patient experience.

I went to this clinic following a motor vehicle accident (MVA) because of persistent chest pain and…read moreconcerns of a broken rib. When I got in the room, the MA informed me that the clinic does not bill insurance for initial MVA visits and that everything done would have to be out of pocket. I am an emergency physician, so I can handle the cost, but on principle, I left the clinic. This is an unacceptable policy. I am aware that there can be billing headaches in the aftermath of an MVA as insurance companies fight over who will pay the cost of care, but this was straightforward. It is also not fair to the patient that because of the administrative headache of getting reimbursement he/she should have to bear the cost of care. Now, because of the concern over reimbursement for this visit, I will not return so future cash flows for the clinic are compromised, not just the questions over today's visit. A better business move would be to eat the cost of chasing down the reimbursement in the interests of better service and attracting the future revenues for repeat services for myself and my family. A better ethical move is to not punish the patient for issues that are not under his control, especially in the aftermath of a trauma. This is not appropriate care, good business or proper ethics in the delivery of health services. --R David Smith, MD

Billing, and what amounts I guess to Customer Service, have insisted on the wrong narrative over and over. It seemingly is an organizational catastrophe over there, with no one able to not only solve problems for themselves, but solve between departments. (UPDATE) After several more weeks of dealing with this, I have reached a satisfactory resolution and my bill was zeroed out. However, this is after literally dozens of attempts with at least 4 different people in the office who said they were going to "forward this to the Lab Director" and receiving no follow-up. I managed to wheedle an email to said Lab Director, who actually wrote back and said, "Honestly, that is the first I've heard of this and after three or four more cc'd emails, it looked like it had been rectified..." Absolute, total, utter mismanagement by all parties at this operation.

The woman who works there is a fantastic phlebotomist. She always finds a vein, does the puncture and collects the blood quickly and efficiently. I almost never have a bruise and the bleeding stops quickly. I'm known to pass out but she gets it done so fast I never even have a chance. She's truly great and I'm a loyal patient even when the wait is like 45 minutes long. I recommend her to anyone!
