Dislike this location too bc it's so hard to get appts here due to being right by the hospital. Would not recommend walk in unless u go right b4 opening bc they're super packed. This location needs more chairs. Tons of people were standing bc they ran out of chairs. They also don't provide heat in the lobby so on a really cold winter day, it was miserably cold in the lobby, esp w patients coming in and out 10x an hr. which is terrible when you're doing a glucose tolerance test and u have to wait around for 1,2, or 3 hrs. The inside for the employees was nice and toasty. The other thing i highly dislike about quest is that their stupid TVs are always BLASTING ads about the tests they offer. Can't do anything bc their ads are irritatingly loud and keep u from hearing anything else or concentrating on your work if u bring a laptop to work on while waiting. My concerns are about the professionalism of the phlebotomist. Why did she touch my veins with her finger after applying the antiseptic? Why didn't she release the tourniquet after the initial blood flow was established? Why did she use only the word "here" and point with her finger to give instructions? I came as a walk in, and waited for 3 hours hoping on something..there were more people that were waiting for 4 hours and at the end they said..Sorry we have some bad news we work till 4:30 pm, the ones who have an appointment are in priority the walk in people we don't care about them! Office experience was horrible. My son and I showed up at 4:00 walked in and and checked in before 4:10. A tall African American lady asked if walk ins were there we said yes. She said she can't take us because it's 4:11 the office does not close till 4:30. She stated she had to do pick ups. If th this is true, then the office needs to close at 3:30 or 4 o'clock not say online and on the signs that it's open until 430 if Services are to stop at a certain time that needs to be stated she was a little rude when she said she doesn't need to take people if she doesn't want to, but that's only on a rude customer basis. That's not an actual personal choice. I know that's not company policy. I have limited time when I can get My Son's blood drawn and now because she turned us away I can't go anywhere else this evening and I need my mom's help to get My Son's blood drawn now it's 430 and the offices are closed for me to get his lab work sent somewhere else and all other offices are closed. This is extremely poor customer service on quest part. I honestly never come to quest. I usually go directly through the hospital never coming back here again. Don't recommend it. Also, you need to put people back in the front desk instead of having computers, because the computers that are in the front, don't state that you won't be seen either. I usually never have any issue at Quest , but if you do schedule an appointment at a certain time and you have a lifestyle with time restrictions I do advise you add an additional 10-15 minutes to your wait time until they call you , it is quite disheartening in my opinion to have had Quest become fully "Self Check In" as I believe it really takes the CARE out of HEALTHCARE , but I understand that many businesses have had no other choice but to resort to the measures . This is the only Quest location my husband and I will go to for blood draws or other tests. They are always kind and efficient, and we always, always make an appointment, so we never have to wait more than a few minutes. When you walk in, you will check in at the kiosk. Your wait time is then posted on the TV monitor above. The clinic reps will then call you up to desk to gather your insurance card and doctor paperwork. We sat back down and were called back for blood draw within 10 mins of giving paperwork. Very easy process. When we checked in there were about 5 people ahead of us per the TV monitor and said 41min wait but that didn't include those who already checked in so kinda deceiving. So we were alittle worried once we took our paperwork up as your name disappears from list so it was a waiting game at that point. By the time we were called back it was just about 40 mins total so the wait times were pretty accurate. The staff is friendly that we dealt with and the clinic rep who took care of us was very gentle giving that they are about to poke you and it may hurt. Shenaya was so rude to me. I came in for a 7 am appointment which I fasted for. My file could not be found so I gave her my old last name. She said it wasn't there and I insisted it was (by the way it was under old last name) ; she said none of them matched. But it was actually there. She raised her voice and said it wasn't there and was mean. I backed down and then she calmed down and said I needed to call my doctor and have them send it over because they never received it, but I had just gotten off the phone with the doctor the day before and knew it was here. I called my doctor again and they verified it was under my old last name and had been sent the day before. I intimated to my doctor how poorly I was treated and they said that they would have their Quest representative make sure it didn't happen again. They said they would call them but I said no I want to give them an opportunity to correct it, so I headed back to the Carmichael location. This time I actually ran into Shenaya in the waiting room who was helping a customer at the kiosk. I actually told her what had happened (my file was there under old name like I had asked her to look up) and she said oh, I'll get your right in. It looked like she was taking responsibility for not seeing my file earlier. In the meantime, I made a walk-in appointment, even though I should've just been brought right in and squeezed in which is what Shenaya said she would do. Ninety minutes later, remember I'm still fasting, I went to the back to use the restroom and started to intimate the story to another phlebotomist . Shenaya overheard and came out and was rude to me and interrupted my conversation by bullying me one more time. She denied the file had been here all along once again. So I will never return here again. I was treated as if Iwas stupid and not a priority.The fact that I had an appointment and she made a mistake and would not take responsibility for it or make it right and then blame me by saying I needed to go call my doctor is unacceptable. It's really messed up. It's now 3 1/2 hours later and I am still here. Ok I got my blood drawn. By the way, the supervisor called another employee while I was getting my blood drawn and wanted to know about the interaction between Shenaya and myself. He couldn't get to the bottom of it at that point because Shenaya was on lunch. I told him that I would give Shenaya 24 hours to make this right and then I would post this review. I just left this place of business after sitting for over an hour as a patient. A lady came in and wanted to ask a question and a bearded man working there was so rude to her and told her he was done and she should leave and seek answers elsewhere. Meanwhile a 2nd lady came in with about the same question and the bearded man was more than happy to help this lady and took her in the back. There were 2 of us waiting for lab draws and the bearded man came out and called a name that was neither if us, and proceded to close the door and came back out in a time frame that he could have drawn the both of us ladies waiting and called the same name that wasnt there last time. Took her back as she was late arriving, she left then he came out and told us to leave because they were now closed and the other lady asked if she could make an appointment for tomorrow and he rudly told her they were all booked up and not to come tomorrow even though they clearly state they take walkins. I have never in my 40 year career in healthcare seen such rudness from another healthcare worker. Some people should consider not working with people if they cant be nice reguardless. I had a really great experience here with the phlebotomist Parnaz today. She was so sweet, understanding, and patient with me throughout my test for gestational diabetes where I had to have my blood drawn 3 times within a 2 hour period. I've known myself to faint in the past and for this test i needed to fast beforehand so I was extra nervous but she detracted me during the blood draw + was extremely quick and gentle! I will be requesting her in the future and so grateful for her making this intimidating process go so smoothly so me. Thank you Parnaz!! read more

The front desk people have absolutely no compassion or understanding. I came in a year into covid so they accepted some patients without appointment at the time (said that on the door). I told them I had 2 kids waiting in the car and I drove there 40 mins because this was the last day my doctor told me to do the blood draw. After making me call my doctor and ask for Urgent label to be put on the referral, for 45 mins, they still refused to do the blood draw that would take 2 mins! And there was one person waiting in line! Those people literally have no heart and no compassion, because I left there crying and they did not care! Yet the message on the phone when you call just says "appointment SUGGESTED and walk-ins not guaranteed" the lady up front said they don't do walk-ins today. even the website (after over 6 months) still shows walk-in wait times and it updates! I understand you have to adjust scheduling due to COVID but the fact that after all this time(since July of 2020) I still wasted time and gas to be told "we only take appointments." Fix the phone message and website to reflect what I've been told. Another problem is the fact that the front desk has no ability to check upcoming openings. I called them back to see future availability and they said they don't have that information and I'd have to go to the website. This Quest location is inside the Mercy San Juan Medical Center on Coyle Avenue in Carmichael. First floor near the entrance. I use this location for the typical testing that is done for annual physicals. The staff is very pleasant and know their jobs well. Painless drawing of blood, etc. The most I have waited is ten minutes, sometimes get in as quickly as one or two minutes. I have never scheduled an appointment due to the fast service as a walk-in patient. Excellent in every way. read more

Been to Quest five times, every visit is terrible. Twice they forgot important tests that were ordered. After going in a second time, I asked to cancelled one of the duplicate tests at the front desk (which was there mistake to begin with) then when I getting my blood drawn I asked to double check, they didn't cancel it (of course). Tests always take days longer compared other medical clinics that provide onsite service. There website is horrific, they just try to gather all your personal information to sign up and then the website itself doesn't provide any adequate service to look up result or just to pay your bill, total waste of time. They prey on the fact that often they are the only option for certain medical insurance so they have no incentive to provide any kind of reasonable service or experience to customers. read more

I then decided against my better judgement to come here again, since it was close to where I was. When I got here at 12, there was 3 people ahead of me. It is now 1:30, and I'm STILL here waiting. I had to get bloodwork done and give a urine sample before leaving town for the weekend, and not only was this location OPEN ON SATURDAY, but without an appointment I only waited 20 minutes to be seen. I have been told I have "bad veins" for giving blood, but THOMAS the phlebotomist managed to get a vein the first time, was incredibly kind and gentle, and made the time go by quickly. I was done in less than 10 minutes and off for my weekend! Highly recommend this location! read more

Compared to other locations I have been to, this location is quick, informative and may I just say...that the phlebotomist who drew my blood, was an absolute delight. I don't think I have even met such a nice person. His name is Greg! Thanks Greg, for being so awesome and distracting me from the needle injection! :) I think it's common sense that people with appointments get seen sooner than walk ins. So when people (walk ins) complain that they are not being seen fast enough, that's just a shame. I never have high hopes for Quest. The staff at the window always tend to be stand-offish. Today was no exception. Jenny (I think that's her name) was training a new person. She seems to know her stuff, but her customer service skills could use some work. She would call people up and then when she had the info she needed, she would just stop talking to them. In the time I was there, several people had to ask her if she needed anything else and then she would tell them to go sit back down. She also took a personal call on her cell phone while there's a room full of people. Apparently, her sister needed to know where something was. Just so you know, it was in the console, Jenny saw it. Then when I was up there unsure whether she had all my information I got to learn that Jenny doesn't wash her hair everyday even though she uses sulfate free shampoo to keep the color before I could ask if she needed anything else from me. Quest really needs to figure out how to balance the new technology and the aging population. This is not the first time I have seen this happen at Quest. There was a gentleman there who was born in 1927. He messed up signing in on the tablet. There was very little compassion shown to him. They figured it out, but this poor guy who had an appointment was there for a while before he approached them. Right away Jenny jumped on him to sign in when he went to ask if there was a problem. He thought he signed in, but he entered his name incorrect. How can you expect an aging population to understand all the new technology and not have people willing to help? On top of all of this, I showed up 20 minutes early for my 9:00 am appointment. Sure, I was hoping to get out of there a little sooner, but understood my appointment was at 9:00. I didn't get out of there until 9:40. What's the appointment for? To check in? There has to be a better system. read more

They do walk-in on Saturday's 7am-12. I had no appointment everywhere I called were booked in the area. I waited at the front entrance of the building for 30mins with a few other people not knowing we where suppose to go to the back. It would have been better if it was a sign to go to the back of building but it wasn't. So when I went it was along line which I waited in. As I got inside to check in at the kiosk i got send a message to my phone to finish registering because I had no appointment. I got checked in and few minutes later I was send to a room. I waited in the room to be seen for 20mins and I know this because I start watching a show on my phone soon as I got to the room let alone a worker came in the room and was using the computer for quite some time I'm thinking I was going to be helped but no she left out. So someone else came in said "you been here awhile, I wonder why no one came" and my reply was "yes I have". So she did my labs and I left. Overall my experience was good beside the two issues, they did not denied me due to not having an appointment. Also they do let a certain amount of people in due to COVID. How Quest can continue to operate at a continual state of chaos is beyond my understanding. Always understaffed and overbooked, the average wait time is likely 60-70 minutes. Overworked staff are continually dealing with disgruntled patients. Lack of response by management is obvious. I have been going to this lab for several years. I used to just walk in and then I'd have to wait sometimes for as much as an hour. I now always make an online appointment and I've always been taken care of exactly at the appointment time. This morning the waiting room was so crowded that several of us were standing. My appointment was at 10:00. I got there at 9:50, was seen at 10:00 and was back in my car at 10:20. Everyone working there was pleasant and efficient even though some of the patients were being unpleasant about their wait. An advantage to online appointments is that you can find an appointment at any of their facilities on the same web page. read more
