I first came here in the early 2000s shortly after Kris opened on Sheridan, a short walk from my home. I went to him several times after and was sad when he closed that location in 2017. Fortunately, I haven't had any problems that required attention since about 2015 until today when my computer lost its sound driver. Yesterday afternoon I accidentally broke my laptop (that's what happens when you don't let it properly shut down before unplugging it, kids) I was like, "Crap! What am I gonna do??? I can't NOT Yelp!" :( Using my handy dandy Crackberry to Yelp laptop repair, up pops Quest. After reading the reviews, I go hoping for the best. Cute little shop that is a tad messy- not like dirty messy, but the kind where you know they get sh*t done. Kris was really cool and when I explained my situation to him he said I could have my laptop by Wednesday (noooo!) or have a rush order done within 24-48hrs (sounds good!) and they have computers in front of house for customers use. Jonathan (the tech who worked on my laptop) called me the following morning to follow up and they had my laptop up and running by 3pm *YAAAAY* Having my laptop back and working better than it was before I broke it = priceless :) -------------------------------------------- Sidenote: Kris was kind enough to print out directions to get to the Metra and when he saw me walking in the wrong direction chased me down. Great customer service! I am horrifically computer illiterate and the owner was very patient and helpful. I came in not even really knowing what all my questions were. I have been on the phone over and over with Clear about reactivating my account - then getting cut off and calling back to get the shipment labels - only to not receive them 2 weeks later (but this is not a Clear review...let me get back to the point). Not only was I helped in an efficient amount of time but I also got information about recovering some old documents. You see I recently gave up on PC's since my HP decided to die without notice. I was planning on running it over with my car a few times but I was informed at Quest that my music and documents could be saved! I shall be back (and probably with more questions). read more

I've known about Quest Network for over 10 years. Its been a while since I used their services. However, yesterday I learned that my P/C was apparently infected with some malware. To my surprise my Norton Security software only protected against virus' - not malware. Norton advised me to contact a Certified Microsoft Technician to resolve this issue. They told me it may cost $200 to resolve. So thinking back, how helpful Quest Network had been in the past, I contacted Kris Luck, the owner of Quest Network. Kris was able to logon to my P/C and remotely run anti-malware software. He was so pleasant to work with. We had the problem resolved in less than an hour. It really gave me peace of mind knowing that I have a knowledgable source to turn to when I have any P/C related problem. I highly recommend Quest Network & Computer Services. read more

I dropped off two audio tapes and one VHS tape to be converted into digital and asked if the converted files would be ready for pick up in a week. The person who took the tapes confirmed that the audio files will be ready in a week, while VHS might take longer due to a European formatting of the tape. I wasn't able to pick them up in a week, so came back in two weeks. The person "responsible for audio conversion" was not in the office and the only other employee was clueless where the converted files were. I asked the person "responsible for audio/ video conversion" to send me an e-mail and, potentially drop at least the audio files into a cloud drive (GDrive/ Dropbox) in exchange for a credit card number they could charge over the phone. My e-mail was left unanswered, I don't think anyone has touched the tapes for two weeks and they only remembered about them when I came to pick them up. At no point was I told to check in with them whether audio conversion was finished (and, frankly speaking, it should not take two full weeks). read more

So these people should add life savers to their list of services!! They are so amazing. I am typing this review from my laptop that I would not be even be able to use without them. So back in December right after Christmas I was dumb enough to step on the edge of my laptop because it was on the floor.... don't ask. But long story short my laptop screen cracked... from the inside. I was freaking out my whole screen was white. I took it to best buy and they said with how much it will take to fix I might as well buy a new one. Mind you my HP laptop costed me 700 bucks and I have not even had it for 2 years yet. Found Quest on yelp and they sounded good. Called told them the issue and they acted like no problem at all. I thought I was doomed and they showed me hope. They quoted me at 260 labor and part included but it ended up being only 185. Now hearing this versus what best buy said you can understand how excited I was. Any problems I have in the future I will without a doubt be going to Quest. I recommend them 100 percent now I am back doing school work and wasting my life away on Facebook hahaha and everything is good with my computer couldn't be happier with the job they did and they are just all around awesome and nice people to work with!! read more

Walking in to this place was kinda funny. I always walked by it in the past. My neighbor suggested I go there to sign up for Clear Internet Services (also awesome). Kris was so kind and helpful. He set me up with Clear internet and was very friendly and answered all of my questions without making me feel stupid. He also managed to help other people without making me feel ignored. I also inquired about his other skills and decided that if I need work on my other computers (which I do), I will take them to him. His prices are more reasonable than the geek squad and because it is his reputation on the line, he is very honest with you about prices. I love the guys at Quest, Kris, Emmanuel, Bill, Dexter, and Jerome. They're all awesome! Kris even makes house calls! When my computer crashed I took it to them and they fixed it. I bought my new laptop from them. They have amazing prices on Dell, Toshiba, Gateway, IBM, Lenovo laptops and tablets. And they also transfer audio cassettes to cds and transfer vhs cassettes to dvd. Bill can optimize the video and audio, even if the tapes are old. He's a magician! read more

I live on a tiny island and hauled my salt-air encrusted, malware infected, Saharan Dust- packed, 3+ year old laptop into Kris. He resurrected it 2 years ago and I had my doubts that it was viable. But we don't throw things away here on the rock and Clouds to many of us are just potential hurricanes. I need my doc.s right where I can access them when the internet goes down. Yes, maybe he's not the cheapest or even the fastest but give me a break. There is no amount of time, money or bales washed up on the beach down here that can access the level of service and computer alchemy that Kris provides. Be very grateful Chicagoland. You take much for granted. His wizardry extends to a kindness and patience in educating the techno-delayed. Translation of complex issues is tough. Trust me, I live amongst those who speak a different language. When I had a few questions he both emailed me AND left a VM explaining the issue completely. In English. Finally, when I went to pick up my computer Kris had been unable to vacuum or blow out the nasty mix of dust and salt-air goo and had literally taken Qtips and meticulously swabbed out the keyboard by hand!!! Though the rusty UBS ports were too much, he pointed out that I may want to back up the old girl fairly soon. I travelled over 2200 miles by ferry, planes and foot to take my computer to Kris. I don't have a way to print out anything at home, and Qwest has been extremely helpful in helping me get documents from my memory sticks. Sooner or later, I'll probably have to either have my current computer looked at, or even replaced. I will consider going to the people at Qwest. Kris (owner and technician) was helpful when my computer was running really slow. He first cleaned up the hard drive for $65 which is a reasonable price for the service. After the computer was still running slow he suggested adding memory. I followed his suggestion and my dinosaur computer is running significantly faster. He had my computer for awhile which was fine with me because I was so used to not using it. If time is paramount, I would let him know and maybe he could have a faster turnaround. Spent 3 months trying to get a fan replaced on my laptop. Nothing but run around and avoidance. I had been referred by a friend, who told me the owner was nice, but you have to stay on top of things to get repairs completed. After 3 months of trying, I was given a number for the manufacture's service area and Kristopher stated that they would send a technician out to replace the fan, free of charge. The number that he provided was a survey line for orders placed with Sony. Don't waste your time here. ***In response to the owners comment, during the 3 month period, I was called by them one time. As I stated, number that I was given to call was a survey line for parts ordered with no options to talk to a live person. Too bad the customer service wasn't as quick as the response to a yelp post. Before you go to anyone else, go to these guys...I originally took my laptop to another service in Evanston that's located on Grove. The guy told me it would take a week before anyone could even look at it and it would be a $75 charge for the diagnostics. Yes, that goes towards the cost of repairing the laptop but he also said it would be $75 an hour for any repairs- he estimated it would take 2.5 hrs. That particular company had good but mixed reviews on Yelp... Quest has great reviews for a reason. They looked at my computer THAT DAY. They had a hard time figuring out what was going (that was understandable...it was a weird issue- just slow to start up but everything else was fine). It took them into the next day to figure it out... Found out it was a set of 4 different issues that were slowing down my laptop. Viruses, a disc, multiple virus protection software at war with each other, and it was heavily fragmented. My laptop works GREAT. Got it back within 2 days. Didn't have to wait a week and paid FAR less than what I would've had to pay at the other place. BTW- one of the other reviews talks about how the place is messy but it's the type of messy where you know they get shit done. Totally true. read more
