There was no attendant we paid for gas and then we pumped however, we didn't know the pump didn't stop! It just kept going, so I went back into pay the balance and scout it out the store a little bit my favorite find was this bag of wafer candy with blue raspberry powder that has a tattoo on the bottom for your tongue. It's temporary but my students in sixth grade Absolutely loved this candy for the tattoo and the super blue sour raspberry powder inside it all fades away within seconds, but oh what fun! What's amazing about these little gas stations in the middle of nowhere is that they typically have pizza wings and subs and everybody seems to stop there. It's a great way to get a feel for the locals when you're traveling. We were heading to a lodge on Lake Conossee, we were literally running on fumes driving on winding one lane country road as the sun was setting when we saw this gas station with only two pumps we had to stop. It's mostly a convenience store and gas station stocked full of all kinds of junk food, pastries, milk, breads and some unique Maine types of weird things. But over on the side of the store is a small grill that manages to produce a whole range of different things. All kinds of cool breakfast stuff, some traditional like several varieties on bacon and egg and toast and other rather uncommon things like breakfast burritos and even something call breakfast pizza. They also have some absolutely gigantic freshly baked cinnamon rolls that smell fantastic and of course the ubiquitous Maine blueberry pancakes. But there is a lot more here than just breakfast. All kinds of pizzas are served throughout the day as well as various sandwiches, fried chicken, burger type things and sea bugs like shrimp, scallops and of course some great lobster rolls. In fact they even have live lobsters and crabs that they will cook for you or you can take them home and kill them yourself. Just an amazing amount of different foods prepared so many different ways. You or course can fill up with gas for your vehicle or get caught up on the latest local gossip too. Not a whole lot of stores around here so they make the best of what they have.
