Called the usual suspects around town, ALL of whom said they didn't have the correct size in a used tire and tried to sell me a new tire for $70 and up. Nope. Googled 'used tires Newark, Ohio' and this business came up. I'd never heard of them but called. They had several used tires in that size, told me it would be $25-35 depending on the quality of the tire, and I didn't need an appointment. They also gave me directions to their location behind Wilson Garden Center. I showed up an hour and a half later. They were well-staffed with friendly people and had me out the door in ten minutes for $25, which included installation and a check of the other three tires. Locally owned, too. I'll go back.

On top of this, I went to another tire shop, Costco, and it turns out, Heath Goodyear didn't even put a plug on the puncture, they only applied a patch and that's why I was seeing a leak. Not only was Heath Goodyear more expensive, Costco is $12 if you're wondering, they also didn't follow standard practice and now I'm paying twice to have my issue fixed. The front tire was plugged before I even knew what was happening. The nail in the back tire was almost in the sidewall, so they took the time to explain that if I was going to go on a long (longer than 10 hours) trip, I might want to replace it, but if I am just driving local, a $25 patch would be just fine. While one guy was working on my tires, another was educating me on how to check the tread on my tires. These guys could have taken advantage of me and told me I needed 4 brand new tires, but instead they took the time to educate me so I could make informed decisions. Bowman was my go-to auto repair shop a few years back. They used to be fast (very fast) and…read morereliable / trustworthy. They do good work in general but lately they seem to have dropped the ball on speed and quality. I had a vehicle problem "fixed" only to have a do-over. I let it slide. The next time they sort-of fixed things but it still had issues. I brought my vehicle this last time and they wanted me to approve $2500 "just to get started" looking at the transmission and said they couldn't guarantee that would fix it.. I found a few videos online and diagnosed the problem myself, fixed the issue of some basic things (added fluid for $50, reset the transmission control myself in 10 minutes with no tools needed). I believe they lost a few key people there. They have newer mechanics that can't fix basic things correctly and i think trust the computer to tell them what to do but don't have the experience to do the basics. I felt taken advantage of. On top of that they didn't even call after a few days went by to tell me "the bad news" - to their credit they didn't charge me anything to look at it, but obviously they didn't even try. I won't be going back unfortunately.
