Damaya was so polite and so sweet! Even though she was working late she had a wonderful smile on her face and was so patient with us.

A tale of two visits. First one we've all experienced. Goto work; you're eventually driving around…read moredoing errands and you need a drink. I park into Zaxbys only to realize I've gone all day without my wallet. I'm about to inquire about tap to pay options using my cell phone (been years since I used it). Needed an update and I was about to walk out empty handed when an employee just hands me a large drink cup for free. Well, it was high time I returned (with a wallet) for an actual meal. Second trip I roll in and order the half tenders half boneless to go with a large drink. Head back to the truck and dig in. The boneless was nicely sauced and the tenders were fine with the provided dipping sauces. Sides, well there aren't many choices. Same as that Canes place. This unfortunately is happening too often in these chicken chains. Fries and slaw are fine but I want variety in sides so you don't go into boredom. Credit to Golden Chick for having AMAZING Dirty Rice. Popeyes for Red Beans and Rice. Fried Okra at Church's Texas Chicken. Extra star for the excellent service.

And if I'm not going back, chances are darn good that my wife isn't either. Zaxby's is on Old San Antonio Road in Buda in the midst of Fast-Food Franchise Row. Karen and I were trying this place for the first time in the two years we have lived in Turner's Crossing. The fast-food zone is very convenient to us, so it is often a last-minute destination. However, it wasn't the food that got my tighty whities in a bunch. I was flabbergasted after getting an order including wings slathered in barbecue sauce when we were told they were out of napkins. Did they expect us to wipe our fingers on our clothes? Or just lick them clean? The vinyl upholstery in the booths was beckoning, but I figured that was probably a bridge too far. An employee just shrugged her shoulders, basically wondering what we expected her to do. We told her to find some paper towels in the kitchen or refund our money and we'd go elsewhere. They found the paper towels. We also suggested that they warn customers about the lack of napkins BEFORE they order finger food covered with sauce. Food was edible but nothing to rave about. Karen had the veggie egg rolls. She finished them, but pronounced them nondescript. Certainly not worth a return visit. I had a combo plate of the nicely sauced wings and some pretty good chicken fingers. My bone-in wings were meaty and decent, but the chicken fingers and especially the fries were over-salted. Most of the chicken fingers came home with me for lunch tomorrow because I really enjoy that stuff cold too. There's also a limit to how much salt I can ingest at one sitting. The thick-cut fries were actually quite tasty, but after a few bites the salt just became overwhelming. Of course, our enjoyment may have been colored by the apparent lack of interest in paying customers. Also the decor was the most depressing of any fast-food place I have been to in the area.

Chicken is great, fries nicely seasoned!!! Sauce isn't as good as Raising Cain's honestly but good too.

Stopped by Hat Creek Burger Company in Buda for their "Wear Burnt Orange for a FREE Cheeseburger to…read moreCelebrate the Sweet 16!" promo. They were giving away a FREE Little Hat Burger when wearing Burnt Orange. Parking was a bit challenging to find because there was a crowd there for the promo. The place was very busy and the line was very long, but the staff was friendly and efficient in keeping the line moving when taking orders. It took some time before I received my burger because of all the orders. The free Little Hat burger was very tasty and I got my burger with cheese and added all the toppings. This restaurant also has amazing tater tots that are fried crispy with just the right texture. The restaurant has a playscape on site that is always popular with family and children. Hat Creek is always a solid go-to for a casual meal, especially with the family-friendly setup and outdoor space.

CONS: -They close at 9p. -Minimal indoor seating. -The food is good when it's good, but often times it is not. The quality and portion sizes vary with each trip. Sometimes the onion rings are great, but sometimes you only get half the portion or it's a soggy mess. The salads are great, but sometimes the salad is a full container and sometimes it's half empty. -The service here is just service, but barely. Half the time, there's no one at the register. They really want you to use the kiosks so they don't have to interact with the customers. The drive-thru is just as bad. Someone will be at the window to hand off your food, but they immediately disappear so it takes a while to get your order fixed if something is wrong with it. Overall, they really don't seem to care. They're more focused on their social media presence and app then the customer experience. There are much better options in this town.

I went in just hoping they'd put a salad in a wrap and they were so accommodating! The manager (I think) even confirmed each ingredient and suggested skipping the croutons which I agreed with. The wrap really hit the spot! Only small complaint was that they panini pressed the wrap which led to some limp lettuce- I didn't know the wraps would be pressed. But this was a small issue and the wrap was satisfying. The husband got a sandwich and said it was good though the bread was cut a little unevenly. All in all I'd come back for the great service alone.

I just received a sandwich from them for lunch today via delivery. I only get tomato, spinach and onion as vegetables, so there is plenty of room to add all 3. This is the third time I've gotten paper thin, half moon slivers of onion and tomato. My last sandwich was missing spinach. I know the cost of things are expensive, but I think they could spare a few more slices of their extra thinly sliced vegetables. This sandwich today. I picked off the banana pepper, im not sure if they added that by accident or if my husband put it on the order.
