UPDATE AFTER SHOP OWNER RESPONSE…read more Nice try. I brought it back 7 days later with the receipt and was treated poorly. The saleswoman brought it back to the owner who refused. I tried to reason with them for a return or.credit and was denied this simple courtesy. Pretending to be courteous here doesn't change the review or my opinion of your shop. I would advise anyone to skip this shop. - - - - I purchased about $100 worth of fabric and notions a couple of weeks ago. I bought a seam ripper, too. I paid about $11 for it. When I got it home and took it out of the package I found that the point of it was dull, chipped, and it didn't work. I took it back with my receipt and was told that since I had taken it out of the package they couldn't resell it, so no refund or exchange. Wow. Obviously they don't want return business. Just imagine how you get treated if you buy a sewing machine from them and have a problem. It never occurred to me that a business would care so little about customers. Obviously I'll be shopping at the Fig Leaf instead, where they are friendly and make customers feel welcome and appreciated.

I had what I thought was a bobbin issue and brought my machine in for a tuneup. The woman at the…read morecounter spent 10 minutes looking it over and fixed it. She saved me money and because of her I was able to get back to my Christmas sewing.

I took a quilting class here. The whole class was the owner talking about her quilts, showing them…read moreto us (some very nice work,) talking about her knowledge of fabric designers, etc. This ended up being a beginning quilt class where you bring your sewing machine the first time and never again. We watched HER do things instead. I had been looking for a more in depth beginning class, so not what I expected at all. There was lots of chatter on the break about how disappointed we were. A four hour class, too. There were 6 meetings. Definitely not for bare bones beginners. I did learn some things, like helpful ideas on choosing fabrics for a quilt but not much more. We had been told that 25 fat quarters were required for a great sampler. I bought them at her shop because she said she would help me choose, but she ended up choosing most of them and I ended up not using a lot of them. $$$ wasted. That's on me. I should have spoken up about it. I've gone back a few times for this or that, small things, but it seems the owner is not interested anymore. The size of the shop has been cut in half, not much room, and her taste in fabric is not mine. I'd rather drive to Fort Collins to the Fig Leaf, where it's bright, pleasant, great choice of fabrics, and the folks working there are interested in what you're looking for, are helpful, and don't insult what you're doing. It's a pleasant experience and worth the drive. On the plus side, I was motivated enough by what the owner at Around the Block was doing to go home and find videos showing how to do it on YouTube. So there's that. I feel bad being so honest about my experience but there you go.

Excellent customer service and love the pre-cut FQ's and that you can buy FQ to be cut and don't always need to buy half yards. New quilter and really appreciate the help! Wish their beginner quilt classes were on a weekday evening as I work in daytime when they are offered. Will be watching for an evening one! I love that they're taking covid seriously when many in this city are not. Masks required to enter - thank you!!!

Drove an hour to get here based on their opening timing (5pm close) on their website, yelp, and…read moregoogle. Walked in store at 2:55 and lady sharply said "we're closed". I said but your website says 5 pm. She sarcastically & rudely said "well, there's this thing called COVID". And that their hours on their website might not be updated. I got upset at her sarcasm & rudeness and she claimed I "attacked" her first. (?) I replayed the conversation and sarcasm of "well there's this thing called COVID" when I had simply stated that their website listed a 5 pm close time. After my grown frustration over being told I was wrong "because of covid" and THEIR rudeness, The other lady said "sorry for offending you". I'm not sure what covid has to do with closing early (you decided to open!) and with not updating hours for customers (all the other sewing related stores I've since looked up had updated their hours), or being rude to customers. I am glad there are other quilt stores in the area.... no need to put up with that!

The sales person started every other sentence with, "if you could afford it...." I have never been made to feel like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman at the dress shop, dressed like a hooker. But I did today. And I wasn't dressed like a hooker. I was in work clothes, caring for patients all Day. Even if I was a millionaire I wouldn't purchase anything from them. I had much better service across town anyways.
