I used to love this place under the previous ownership. It was one of our favorite stores to shop at after having lunch in Lincoln Center. I still keep in touch with a former employee. The only good thing about the new place is it is easier to move around. I'm not as worried about bumping into something that is breakable. And they have a bigger selection of the Rosy Rings candles. That said, they are not friendly like the previous owners were. The place is stark white and is more cold, than welcoming. There was an older lady at the front when I first walked in. At first, I thought she was another customer. Until I realized she was following us around the entire store as if we were criminals. Also, prices have gone up. $45 for a small stuffed animal (36% markup). $90 for a spoon rest (a 50% markup); I don't care if it is McKenzie Childs. But it was more about the way we were treated in the store. I used to buy from this store almost every time I went in. I don't think I'll be back. I'll take my hard earned money and spend it elsewhere. I've been treated better at high-end places in Carmel-by-the-Sea. read more

I used to love this store. It was one of the few places to still buy Hallmark cards and the staff was friendly. Honestly, it's not that anymore. I have been in there a few times, the cards look old and tattered. It looks like it is trying to be a high end boutique but it really isn't. Staff is unfriendly. The items they carry aren't unique. Best Wishes in Lincoln Center is such a gem in Stockton! The store is always beautifully organized and full of unique gifts, cards, and fun finds you don't see everywhere else. The team is incredibly kind and welcoming, and you can really tell they care about their customers and the experience they create. Have been in 2 times since new ownership and both times I was the only customer in there. 2 people working at the counter area and not 1 person greeted me. They act put out. I have been shopping at Best Wishes for decades. I just visited for the first time under new ownership. I have never experienced such a cold and condescending "welcome." I was surprised to see a complete remodel and said something to that effect to the employee behind the register as I was walking in. She said the remodel had been completed for quite awhile. I said oh, when!? She said October, like that was years ago. This was on December 3rd. I proceeded to begin readjusting myself to the new location of most of the sections in the store when I realized they had locked the front door and were telling patrons knocking that they were closed. This was at 5:30. I immediately went to the front of the store to inquire about the closing time as I was not done shopping. I was told that the store had always closed at 5:30. Being a decades long shopper I am very well aware of that which is why I had looked it up online before I went in, to see if possibly the store was open for extended hours in December. My browser, and Yelp said it was open until 6. I told the employee this after she said that was not true. I showed her my phone as well as it still had my Best Wishes closing time on it. It said 6 pm. She then got out her phone and proceeded to pull it up and it said 5:30. I had said I "Googled" it so she then asked to see my browser. It was Duck, Duck Go. She said hers was Google, and obviously I had not "Googled" it as I had stated. Who knew different browsers and Yelp would have a different time than Google. She said to come back on Saturday to finish my shopping because they were open on Saturday's. No kidding. Again, I know. This is a brief recap of all that was said. The employees tone and attitude from the moment I walked in was that I was a child. For a store that has always been known for it's warmth and charm, it was anything but. I love this store! One of my favorite stores in Lincoln Center. A lot of hard to find kitchen items are sold here. The customer service is always great. If you they are out of an item that you want, they will gladly take your contact info and contact you as soon as they get the item ordered in the store. I was informed by a friend they posted a notice on the front store " Hiring" This was back in August 2024. I decided to visit the store to get a feel of the environment and their customer service. I have never heard of this store. So, I looked up the store information. I felt it would be a great place to work at part time. I have had several years of customer service in the past. When I arrived to the the store, I looked around and I did some observations. I asked the representative in the front counter about the sign on the front door, and if they're still hiring. She said "yes" and I asked her what I needed to do to apply. She handled me an application for the postion. The representative expressed to me the owner was on vacation and she would review the applications upon her return. I went ahead and I filled out the application completely with a resume and 2 letters of recommendation from previous employers. I honestly felt, I would be an excellent candidate for the position. I waited to hear from the employer. I never heard from the employer or the owner. I even took the time to call the store about my applicant and I went back to the store to aquire about the position. During my conversation with the lady at the front counter, I honestly felt I was being given the run around. I asked, "Why did they placed a hiring sign on the door for? I never did get a direct answer to this question. I know I was an excellent candidate for this position.. All I wanted was the acknowledgement from the store owner about my application. Did she even reviewed it? Would I have been hired for the positions? I felt, if I took the effort to fill out the application and I included additional documents to support my experiences. When I called one last time on Monday, 10-7-2024. I never received a directed answer if the owner ever viewed my application. Not once during my conversation with their employees, Was I asked for my name or phone number. So the owNner could contact me. I do hope the owner of "Best Wishes" will see my review. I was a professional educator for many years and I have worked in customer services as a young adult for 9 years. This is definitely not the way to treat potential employees, customers or an individual. Especially with the efforts I made by coming to your establishment and the phone calls. I know when I did customer service. If a customer would leave a message or call. We're trained to call the customer with an answer or suggestion within 24 hours. Thank you for reading my review. Hallmark on steroids! Best Wishes in located in the Lincoln Shopping Center and is a store that I've been coming to for many years. If you're looking for small gifts, greeting cards, baby shower gifts, small decorative or entertaining items, Department 56 collections etc; chances are, this store will have something for you. I usually come here during the holidays when I'm in town to see their Department 56 inventory and to pick up any last minute stocking stuffers. I was helped by Michelle who is also a Department 56 collector. I'm always interested in hearing other people stories so it was great that she shared her story with me. I was able to get a piece I had been looking to purchase (Dayfield's Department Store) and asked her if she sold an adapter that had gone missing for one of my pieces. She said they didn't sell it but thought they had an extra one in the back. A few minutes later, she returned and had the correct adapter and said that I could keep it at no cost. I had no problem paying for it but she insisted that I take it. I was so appreciative of her for one going to look for it, knowing exactly what adapter I was looking for and being so generous and giving the extra adapter to me for free. Now, that's taking care of your customers and I really appreciated that. Best Wishes has always provided me with great customer service in years past and this year, Michelle delivered once again. I adore Best wishes! Great service, very friendly, and they have the best gifts. The selection is very unique and one of a kind. There was hand sanitizer at the entrance and throughout the store along with markings at the checkout ensuring customers stayed 6 feet apart. All staff had masks and gloves on. Best Wishes is one of my favorite stores to go into. If I had unlimited funds, I would go on a shopping spree in there. They carry some amazing brands and everything is absolutely gorgeous in there. Their displays are so beautiful especially during the holidays. One downside is the aisles aren't that big so when I have my son in his stroller, I sometimes have to wait either outside or in the entry way of the store while my mom looks then she will wait with my son while I look but other than that, I love this store. read more
