For a gift giving emergency, I turned to Yelp which brought me to Spruill Gallery & Gift Shop not…read moretoo far from Perimeter Mall. I had no idea this place existed but I'm so glad I know about it now.  Juxtaposed next to two eateries in modern buildings is a historical old house full of delightful locally crafted goods. Maybe the majority of offerings were ceramics but others included jewelry, ornaments, bath and body works, notebooks, teas, and way more than I could list. Some items were on the expensive side while others were less than I would've expected so I think you should be able to find pieces in your desired price range. Make your selections with care since I saw a sign by the register saying that there are no refunds. I was elated since I found perfect presents at Spruill and could wipe my brow and exclaim "Whew!" And just to wrap up (pun intended) this story, the recipients seemed to really like their presents, hooray. Friendly service. There are spaces reserved for gallery visitors near Fogo de Chão's entrance but you can also just park elsewhere in the parking lot. Walk around to the front door on Ashford Dunwoody Road. Shop local!

I've driven by this gallery countless times and finally decided to stop in this past Saturday. They…read morewere doing a holiday market selling goods and wares from local artisans. There are four or so rooms and they had multiple tables set up in each room with various items. They didn't have sellers at the tables so you were free to peruse without feeling pressure to buy. They had a nice selection of items - everything from cutting boards, kitchen napkins, jewelry, candles, and mugs to puzzles and artwork. The prices ranged. Nothing was crazy expensive but not necessarily cheap either. I found a couple of things I liked but nothing I really wanted. That along with the complete lack of reception from the people working there and I passed. (Note: A simple hello doesn't take much. You don't need to chat me up.) I'm glad I came to check out the holiday market but I don't feel like I ever need to return. As far as getting here, you can see the Gallery from the street. They're next to Fogo de Chao and across the street from the plaza with Walmart and World Market. They have a few designated spots in a lot behind the gallery and there's more unassigned parking a little farther back.

This is a huge warehouse with different spaces displaying optical illusions and activities. In order to purchase tickets you have to scan a QR Code to bring up a website. After you purchase tickets you then have to fill out a waiver for each person that has a ticket. Once this is done you show your phone to the attendant at the front desk. They will explain the exhibit. It's basically a maze of rooms. Some rooms have metallic lights on the wall flashing, led screens on the floor that move like splattered paint as you walk. There is also a room of balloons, a room of huge rubber balls, Bubble floating from the ceiling, and a swimming pool filled with thousands of balls. The room I liked the most was the one with metallic streamers. You don't know if you are walking straight or into the wall. I enjoyed the selfie area. It has several booths to take pictures. Please note you have to wear socks if you enter the pit. The air conditioning felt extremely good in the warehouse. If you have sensory issues, this may not be the place for you to visit.

The hub was easy to find and basically right off the interstate. There's plenty of free parking. The staff was nice and helpful. The Bubble Planet Experience was so much fun! I highly recommend it for parents to take their kids and for anyone who is a kid at heart. It was cool reading about how bubbles are in our every day lives as part of science. It's an educational and unique experience that all can enjoy.

I recently took an 8-week "Intro to Drawing" class at Spruill and had a wonderful time! My…read moreinstructor was Thomas Key and I appreciated the way he organized the class. The pace was perfect and I never felt as though we were moving too fast. There were only 4 people in my Sunday afternoon class which allowed plenty of opportunities for him to walk around and help us individually. We also had opportunities to take little snack/bathroom breaks. The building is shared with the library and since that's closed on Sundays, there was usually ample parking. Sometimes there would be a children's performance in the theater near our studio but it was never really disruptive. Although sometimes, there would be less parking spots near the studio entrance on those days. I genuinely enjoyed taking this class at Spruill! I hope to take more classes here in the future and I even told my friends about it. The classes are reasonably priced for the quality of instruction that they offer, and there may be a few need-based scholarships available on their website. I believe there is a donation-based supply closet available to students who are currently enrolled in art classes, but the closet itself is only open during the week. Overall, I think Spruill is a great place hone any craft and I would love to take more classes in the future.
