Ever wonder why there are some people in Chicago who talk to themselves? They are probably possessed! I found a strange book here at Quimby's Bookstore (see picture). Totally weird! This place is rad though. They have unique and interesting DIY books, and bizarre graphic novels. The shop is small, but it is literally jammed to the roof with odd reading materials.

This is such a lovely neighborhood spot. Staff is super knowledgeable and the graphic novels are perfectly curated to a wide variety of interests. A really impressive collection of local zines, including some charming teeny tiny ones for the miniature loving zine fancier in your life. A perennial highlight is the vintage photobooth.

The "Je Suis Charlie" Charlie Hebdo magazines are only $9.99. Still some copies available! Had to purchase and exit as quickly as possible as this magazine is somewhat taboo. My buddy in California will get one, I'll get the other copy. eBay has the same issue of Charlie Hebdo for anywhere between $15-$100. Quimby's rules! Thanks for putting Charlie Hebdo in the display window or I would have missed this extraordinary deal altogether.

If you like words or art or zines or DIY or good stuff to tease your mind, this is the place to go. If you can find parking.

The best bookstore ever. I always come here when I am in the Chi. You can always find some weird comic, toy or sexy book to purchase.

They have author readings here pretty frequently and are part of Chicago Zine fest, which is awesome.

TLDR; amazing place and layout very affordable amazing service and has a verity of things…read more I absolutely love it here I've been here twice and I'm glad to say it's amazing I was worried due to the other reviews that said people here are transphobic and a bit weird towards women and I'm glad to say it's not like that it's nothing like that anymore Atleast They have comics, manga, graphic novels and coloring books along side of necklaces, figures and gems(although I'm not sure the authenticity of them) and other things (be careful if you bring children in though cause there are some porn comics) Everything is really well priced and today they had a 50% off stand outside with comics graphic novels and manga the avg price of the paperback comics are like 5$ and below while the softcovers can range from 30-50$(from what I saw) not sure how much the manga is while the graphic novels are around 17$ they have a 1$ section of comics and their figures are around 230-maybe 400$ it's very affordable The service was amazing when I went yesterday for some rogue comics although they ran out due to popularity they helped me find some comics where she's heavily featured in and while checking out they ask if you want a cover for the comic and they're very welcoming and friendly I love the layout they maybe a small store but it's very neat and not cluttered there's a lot of verity 100/10 would recommend

The setup is different, but still had a good selection comics to funko pops, games, collectibles and more. Very friendly staff, greeted once coming in. The game room in the back is still available. The value of the comics are at a good price. No complaints. I was sad to see G-Mart comics go, but I am glad it stayed comic shop. I wish Dark Tower comics so much success. I will be back soon.

Not really a comic shop pro. I got back into reading comics during COVID, but mostly digital and…read moreafter a while it turned into buying physical stuff. G-Mart (the previous shop that occupied this space) was very close to me so it was my go to shop. I found their online ordering setup a bit old school, but man what I wouldn't give to have that back. At least G-Mart would send you e-mails updating you on your order. The Dark Tower system is definitely more modern, but there's no real notifications unless I'm missing something. No more discounts on subs either which is a real kick in the dick. I pre-ordered a comic months in advance, again no real e-mail communication. Showed up on the release date and they just straight up didn't have it. The good thing is they don't charge you ahead of time like G-Mart did. Luckily Challengers had it in stock though! The other day I got a new releases e-mail for the first time in the history of the store becoming Dark Tower and it's just some dudes name instead of Dark Tower so I thought it was junk. I dunno man, I usually like the real local mom and pop feel of stores because everything is a shitty chain these days, but this place may be a little too mom and pop. Hopefully I've just had bad luck with them but I'm back to a digital only comic reader for the time being.
