The Pleasant Run Trail is a 6.9-mile trail that has Ellenberger Park as its north point, Garfield Park as its south point, and it also goes through Christian Park. The trail also connects to the Red Line at the Garfield Park station. The trail mostly runs through residential areas other than its park connections. You will pass by the Kin Hubbard Memorial, Howe (which I believe is becoming a middle school now), the conservatory at Garfield Park, and a few other familiar features. The trail is almost completely paved, though I would say a handful of curb-cuts were a bit difficult in the wheelchair. The trail is also well-marked with clear signage for directions. There's generally good visibility on the trail, though I do know there's been some crime issues on the southeast side of the trail. There's quite a bit of greenery. I'm not quite sure why, but I've never spent a ton of time on this trail. I typically head to the nearby Pennsy or the Fall Creek Greenway farther north. However, this really is a lovely little trail that is for the most part well-maintained. The Pleasant Run Greenway continues to grow and I believe the plan is to connect to the White River Greenway (another underappreciated trail). Parking is readily available at all three parks and wheelchair users can easily access the trail at any of the three parks.

They all have their own parking. I accessed it from Garfield Park. The trail is well marked, paved in most areas and pretty wide. There are other paved trails that branch off from it, but it is pretty well marked to keep you on the right path. The trail is good for walking, jogging, biking, and skating. It was a nice day when I was out on the trail and there was not a lot of traffic. I think this trail gets overlooked a lot for some reason. This trail is not circular; its linear which means you have to come back as far as you go out unless you have prearranged transportation at the other end. You have have to cross some streets while on the trail. The trail is relatively peaceful and well maintained. This is a nice trail just outside of downtown. It gets it name from Pleasant Run, the roadway that it runs along. It also gives you the sights and sounds of a creek and some neighborhoods along the way. I enjoyed the trail and I believe that it feeds into longer trails such as the Pennsy and Cultural Trails.

One boat had some severe scape marks along a corner weld that I could not see from the photos. He advised me to keep looking and keep checking their inventory as it is updated daily, if needed, and usually they had additions to their pre-owned inventory weekly. But after two months of checking I'm not seeing much new inventory. On one of those two boats we opened the bow storage compartments and the stench of cat urine was overwhelming. The sales person said there was a family of cats living in it. Combined with a nasty scrape on the hull's corner weld the salesman said the boat would probably never sell. However, it did sell about a month later. I wanted to buy that boat and I was going to suggest they rip out the carpet to get rid of the smell. But I was too late, I guess. They should have offered to do it the day I was there looking at the boat. But really; how hard would it have been to fix that before we ever looked at the boat? I did a "Request Info" from their website for the towing weight of one of the used boats for sale from their pre-owned inventory. They did not answer my question, only invited me to come in to the showroom. Since it is an hour drive for me that was not an option to get the answer to my one question. I've since given up trying to purchase a boat. I'll just continue to rent them.

The Franciscan Trail is one of Central Indiana's newest trails having opened in April 2022 and the…read morefirst trail inside the Beech Grove city limits. Fully paved, the 2.2 mile trail has end points of S. 13th Avenue and S. Emerson Avenue/Hornet Avenue. There's free parking available at Sarah Bolton Park and Don Challis Park. If it's not obvious, the Franciscan Trail is a partnership between the city of Beech Grove and Franciscan Health. Franciscan Health is a longtime presence in the Beech Grove area. While St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove is no more, Franciscan continues to have outpatient offices, IT offices, and home health offices in Beech Grove. As someone who is both a wheelchair user and an active trail user, the Franciscan Trail seemed like a great way for me to start off my 2023 Yelp reviews. The trail is 12' wide and considered wheelchair accessible. However, do note that there are some gentle inclines in places and those who don't handle inclines well may want to have a companion along. For those wheelchair users who are able to handle inclines and the usual trail terrain, the Franciscan Trail is an absolute delight. The trail winds along Lick Creek and Beech Creek and is quite scenic. I hesitate to use the word "urban" to describe the trail since Beech Grove is a smaller city, but it does go through the more urban parts of Beech Grove. A 1.1-mile second phase of the trail is already fully funded and expected to begin construction in 2024. It will pick up where the existing trail ends on Emerson Avenue. Because the trail is at times creek side, there is the risk of modest flooding during rainy periods. That said, the trail seems well designed and well cared for by the community. A trail has been a need in this area for quite some time and it's exciting to see it happen. Biking and walking are allowed on the trail. Wheelchairs are also encouraged. The usual trail rules apply. As Christina B. noted, this is not a looped trail and walkers should plan accordingly.

The paved trail is 2.2 miles long and traverses between Sarah Bolton park and just past Don Challis park. It isn't a loop so be prepared to walk 2.2 miles back if you walk the full trail. We parked at Sarah Bolton park and walked just over 1/2 mile of the trail to check it out. The trailhead at the park features a map and the trail rules. The trail is freshly paved and boasts that it is pet friendly and handicap accessible. There are pet waste stations located every so often along the trail. Parts of the trail were a little hilly so I don't know just how accessible it would be but would probably vary by person. We didn't see them on this trip but I read that two officers patrol the trail on electric bicycles for safety. Even though it was in the city, it was super peaceful. We quickly entered into a woodsy area full of wildlife like birds and bunnies. The trail also runs along Lick Creek. We were there the morning after a thunderstorm so there was some flooding on parts of the trail, but it looked like some sort of drainage system was in the works. I'm looking forward to coming back to walk the full trail soon.

There was this very tall person with a mask and a hat behind me, once the trail ended I turned around and they also turned around and started to walk very quickly. They seemed to have different intentions if I had gone beyond the path... please don't go to parks by yourself. please be cautious of your surroundings. I'm not sure what would have happened if i wasnt walking with my boyfriend. this happened a couple of years ago but it still crosses my mind. I wonder if this has only happened to me or if someone else has experienced this.

I found myself with some time to kill and stumbled across this park. This is a small pocket park…read morelocated behind LA Fitness. being that it is behind LA Fitness, it shares it huge parking lot, so their are more than ample spots to park. The park is relatively small and is purely a nature park. You will find a pond and a nature trail that runs along Little Buck Creek. There are also some benches, some having a more scenic view than others. A few are along the creek and one overlooks the pond, and another has a nice view of the parking lot. Talk about the short end of the stick. There are no restrooms, playground equipment or shelters here. There was a bunch of trash on the ground in the front of the park. I visited the park after a snow. It was nice because I could see all of the animal trails. The trails are not very long and either loop or end in a dead end. The trails are pretty well defined, at least during my visit. It may be a little different with spring blooms. The park is not very far off of busy Southport Road, but it still finds a way to provide a level of peace and tranquility. This is an interesting park that does not have much to offer outside of nature. I still found this a nice place to walk around and kill some time.

Zionsville, Indiana has about 20 miles of interconnected paths and trails. This includes the…read moreofficial Zionsville Rail Trail (which I've also heard referred to as the Big 4 Rail Trail). This is a 5+ mile paved trail that goes through the heart of Zionsville, a small suburb on the northwest side of Indy. Trail parking is available at American Legion Trail Crossing, Heritage Trail Park, Carter Station, Zionsville Town Hall and the Nancy Burton Corridor Parking, and just off of Starkey Road. Currently, the trail is being extended north toward Whitestown and south to Zionsville Road. The Zionsville Road trailhead is also currently being constructed. Thus, you will likely encounter some unfinished areas and some construction along the way. While the trail can get busy during good weather, it's a much quieter trail than Monon or Nickel Plate. Because it also weaves through Zionsville, there's also places to stop and it's typically pretty easy to find a public restroom. I know there's at least one on the trail that is clearly marked. Some of the entryways don't look like they would be wheelchair friendly, however, Zionsville has actually done really well to create accessibility along the path. I haven't down this trail during the winter - so I can't speak to maintenance during adverse weather. The paved trail is wide. The most significant inclines are at access points and all those that I experienced met ADA requirements. The trail feels safe and I've seen quite a few parents with strollers on the trail. While you get runners, everyone is considerate on this trail. The plan for the trail is that it will stretch 50+ miles across Boone County and will go from northern Indy to Lafayette. The Big 4 Railroad operated along this corridor from 1889-1930. Zionsville established this trail in the 1990s. The trail is a paved 12-foot wide path with a 3-foot soft shoulder on both sides for runners. It offers restrooms, water fountains, trail markers, picnic benches, and trash receptacles. Pets are to be leashed. If you turn right onto a short path when the trail intersects with Starkley Avenue, you can go directly into downtown Zionsville. Zionsville has a brick-paved Main Street that is quite cool. The trail utilizes nearly all underpasses to go through town. You don't really experience an at-grade crossing until you hit Zionsville's north side. I find this to be much nicer and safer. The trail passes by Mulberry Fields, Jennings Field, Carter Station, Heritage Trail Park, and Rail Trail Gardens Event Center. The trail's a definite winner and only getting better in the coming years!

There was one, but it was a gravel path for about a half mile until we realized we were walking through an unfinished part of the trail. The Rail Trail is a straight path through residential areas of Zionsville. It wasn't very busy on a fall afternoon, and I'm not sure if it will have commercial development like the Monon Trail in Carmel and the Nickel Plate Trail in Fishers, since it does back up to houses/neighborhoods.

Despite only being 14° outside, the snowy trail along the water was just what my soul needed to start the day. We walked our way along the water until we hit the Rocky Ripple neighborhood. There are several bridges along the way for pedestrians to cross between both sides. The path is an Indianapolis treasure that I sometimes think we take for granted. The trail connects Broad Ripple to Butler University and several other neighborhoods along the way.

I'd love to tell you that I intentionally sought out the Coatesville Trailhead of the Vandalia…read moreTrail. That would be a lie. The truth is I stumbled across it while in Coatesville for my father's funeral at nearby Bousley Funeral Home. If you know me, you know that I've traveled over 6,000 miles by wheelchair for a variety of charities. "Wheeling" is a coping skill. So, when I arrived in Coatesville early and began looking around I couldn't help but explore this trailhead when I stumbled upon it. First off, this is a pretty fine trailhead. This section of the Vandalia Trail runs from Amo to the Hendricks-Putnam County Line. It's 4.1 miles and is considered part of Indiana's National Road Heritage Trail. For those who don't know, U.S. 40 is the historic National Road (and known as Washington Street in Indy). This is a trail perfect for walkers, bicyclists, and at times equestrians. In my case, it's also great for wheelchair users. The trail is nicely paved. Both the Coatesville and Amo Trailheads have nicely done restrooms (though I have noticed they seem to struggle with some vandalism of them). Next to the restrooms, you'll find bike repair stations and air pumps. There's also a crushed gravel equestrian trail that runs parallel to the paved travel. I didn't have time to do the entire 4.1 miles. However, I've already decided to use the trail on my next special event later this year. It's nicely shaded, has a cool bridge about halfway between the trailheads, and both Amo and Coatesville are small but attractive towns. While I can't testify to the entire trail since I didn't finish it, the part I handled was in good shape and relatively easy for me as an active wheelchair user. I didn't run into a lot of people, however, it was in late April and not the best weather. At least twice, maybe three times, I've pretty much traveled the National Road Heritage Trail across Indiana (it's about 150 miles). It's a great route. My parents lived in Coatesville for years before their passing, my father most recently last month. For whatever reason, I've not spent a lot of time on the Vandalia. I'll be changing that this year and definitely doing this trail from Coatesville to Amo. Per the Hendricks County Parks website, parking is available at the Coatesville trailhead on the south side of Railroad Street, just east of Milton Street, near the town's flagpole. The trail extends east to Amo and west to Greencastle. Amo has a cool museum and a great pizza shop, Greencastle is home to Depauw University and has some additional cool trails. Trails don't always have quality restrooms, especially for wheelchair users, and I really love the effort put into these.
