    Salad and mofongo
    Esmeralda R.

My family and I usually love ordering the food from this place ever so often, so to have experience this was new. However, the service was a bit dramatic. After explaining we found a caterpillar in the food (and a butt end in another plate), they actually said they would send back the delivery man to get the 1/2-3/4th left of food so we can get a refund as we were already in the middle of eating it all obviously.. it was beyond me. Pedí 80 $ + propina de comida. Pidieron un reembolso y pidieron que les devolvieran la comida. Terrible servicio al cliente. Hay una oruga en la ensalada.

Just felt like a walk from Forest Hills to Jamaica, and I found myself on Roosevelt Avenue traversing into the high numbered streets. I immediately stopped in to this cute exposed brick cafe/restaurant to grab some good eats. My belly had decided on sandwich Cubano with thinly sliced meats, mayo, pickles in a yummy bread. I would definitely come back again. I must say that their tamarind juice is rad! Being an authentic Latin American cuisine restaurant, we had to order in Spanish, which was not a problem. :) It was a quite a nice time here.

Opened mofongo to see this grossness, which tasted awful!

I tried this place thinking it couldn't be so bad, since they had an ok rating. The food was awful!!!! Lunch with beef stew, rice, and beans had a funny after taste. Mofongo was absolutely old and microwaved. Everything was absolutely disgusting. Prices were comparable and portions, but I ended up throwing the food away since it was just that gross. I'm not sure how they stay in business with poor quality food and they lie about tax. $17 plus tax according to them is $19, which should actually be $18.51 not $19. I don't mind giving extra money but that food was DISGUSTING. Mofongo was so dark I will attach a photo. This is by far the worst Dominican food I've ever tasted.

Quisqueya is the Taino name for the Dominican Republic and thus, they serve typical Dominican food at this restaurant. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and staples of the DR so I consider this to be a Dominican diner. Mangu for breakfast, plates for lunch, mofongo whenever you want. If you are a cheapie, come for breakfast. You can get the "tres golpes," a filling portion of meat (fried salami, longaniza, etc, fried cheese, mangu/tostones, fried eggs) for only $6. Add a morir sonando (OJ with some milk and sugar), maybe some coffee and you will be in a food coma. Don't forget the chicharron de pollo, the tasty fried chicken of the DR that won't disappoint. Some of the joints in Corona don't take credit card, but this one does so score.

This was my second experience eating Dominican cuisine. I was in the area and decided to yelp a place to eat and this restaurant popped up. I had the Yuca Empanadas, mofongo and the oxtails. The Yuca was a little salty for me and the filling was just ground beef. Expected a bit more for a two dollar menu item. Mofongo was a bit starchy and hard to be at but it came with a delicious gravy and shrimp. The oxtail was on point. Couldn't get any better than fall off the bone oxtails with a delicious sauce. Staff was a bit rough especially for a non Spanish speaker. There was quite a bit of yelling back and forth between the staff.

Sancocho de $10 y esto fue lo que mandaron. Desafortunadamente este negocio callo. Era el mejor lugar ya no

This place for a long time has gone down hill. The passion isn't there anymore and its sad. Makes me sad because in a place where you sould represent our national food they are not:( and i was over priced for what i got.

My home away from home even though I ain't from DR but u get my drift, I've been coming here ever since I can remember, this has always been my spot whenever I feel the craving for some dominican food, I feel like they always open. Once I went to a concert in City Field and walked all the way down at around 2am and place was not only open but full with clientele. Staff it's super friendly, I don't know if i have been here way too many times or if they have a good memory but they always seem to recognize my family and I, one of the waitress even knows my daughters name and knowing she loves their salad the waitress just brings it ahead of time to us so my lil princess could devour it without hesitation. Now I have tasted the mangu, mofongo, carne asada, bistec encebollado, chicharron de pollo, sancocho, bisted salteado and every dish has served its purpose and left me more than satisfied. You know whats a most? To drink a Presidente right off the bat as it opens the appetite nicely and they always ice cold which is a big plus. Food its rich in flavor and not expensive at all. Also their fresh orange juice and lemonade its the bomb diggity, now dont take my word for it, head out there and enjoy urself, always good music and plenty of windows so place its bright.

    Tres golpes :D

Tried and true Dominican home cooking - reminds me of eating at my old roommate's mom's crib - the mangu con tres golpes is delicious and with longaniza EVEN better. Coffee is nice and strong and the service is superb - only flaw of mention is unisex the bathroom and it's questionable cleanliness, but if you're all about the food like me next time you'll come with handi-wipes and skip the trip to the loo here :) - Bon appetite!

It's not just a treat for the eyes the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and cozy, making it feel just like home, perfect for families. Add to that a full bar stocked with everything from cocktails to wine. Every corner of this restaurant was spot less, you can tell the staff has a great attention to detail. You've got the recipe for a truly lively and memorable dining experience. The aroma alone promised something special. Cocktails Ordered: -Tamarind -Mojito Food ordered: -Tostada de Chivo -Rabo Encendido with rice and beans -sweet plantains The Tamarind cocktail is like a little getaway in a cup. After a 15 minute walk from citi fields this drink was seriously refreshing! It hits all the right notes with a fantastic balance of sweet and tangy that just makes your taste buds sing. Normally it comes with tequila, which isn't really my thing, but a huge shoutout to the server (Jaida) for changing it to vodka. That swap made it absolutely perfect, letting the vibrant tamarind flavor truly shine without any distraction. It's definitely a must-try for anyone looking for a unique and delicious drink. The mojito from the moment it arrives, you can tell it's freshly made. The aroma of mint and lime just jumps out, instantly making your mouth water. Every sip is incredibly refreshing, bursting with that perfect balance of sweet, tart, and the vibrant kick of fresh mint. It's definitely a delicious and perfectly aromatic drink. The tostada de Chivo delivered beyond expectations. This wasn't just a starter it was an experience. Visually, it was a masterpiece a perfectly crisp, golden tostada serving as the foundation for a vibrant medley of ingredients, begging to be devoured. The sheer generosity of the toppings hinted at the rich flavors waiting to unfold. The star of the show, without a doubt, was the Chivo. Slow-cooked to an incredible tenderness, each shred of meat practically melted in my mouth, releasing a deep, savory flavor that was both earthy and subtly spiced. It had that wonderful, slightly gamey quality that makes chivo so unique, but it was incredibly clean and succulent, clearly a result of careful preparation. There was no dryness, just pure, juicy deliciousness. The Rabo Encendido is an experience not to be missed. From the moment it arrives, you cant help but be excited to uncover the depth of flavor under the lid. Paired with rice and red beans that were so rich in flavor. The oxtails, clearly slow cooked with meticulous care, present themselves as a testament to traditional cooking at its finest. The magic truly happens with that complex sauce. It's a symphony of spices and herbs, each note perfectly balanced, creating a robust and savory foundation that elevates the oxtail to new heights. Every forkful reveals meat so tender it genuinely just falls off the bone without any effort whatsoever. And then, the melt-in-your-mouth texture. It's not just tender, it's ethereal. The richness of the oxtail, infused with the intricate flavors of the sauce, creates a dish that is both comforting and incredibly luxurious. This Rabo Encendido isn't just a meal it's a truly memorable culinary journey. The Fried sweet plantains were pure joy! Each bite offers that perfect balance of caramelization and natural sweetness, with a soft, tender inside. They're a simple side that truly shines, adding a delicious, comforting warmth to our meal. Every sip and bite were a harmonious blend of fresh and savory making it an absolutely unforgettable meal that I'd happily go back for again and again.
