Wow. We stopped in for dessert and really loved this little GEM! Don't hesitate - we're tough judges and everything was so tasty! Service attentive. Fun ambiance. Wow. Wow. Wow.

Jigsaw puzzles. You open the box, dump all the pieces out onto the table, and your initial impression is typically, "Huh? Do these pieces in any way match the puzzle that I THOUGHT that I bought?" ‍ Well it sure felt that way when gazing at the "Quo Vadis"menu tonight. Me: "Pardon me. Is there any way that we could get a menu printed in English?" Server: "Sir, your menu has been printed in English." Me: "Oh." So where exactly do you go from there? Well we thought it best to have an honest chat with our server (and once we utilized our decoder rings) we felt pretty good about our choices. That is, until our meals arrived. After that we felt GREAT about our choices. I spied an unknown substance on my plate, so those of you who know me (and my sensitive stomach), will be pleased to know that I shared that mysterious substance with another Review Team Member for evaluation. After that person sampled the entirety of that generous portion, I was soon informed that the "unknown substance" was, in fact, horseradish. Having no known allergic reactions to that flavor party, I heaped an equally large portion onto my first bite of steak and soon discovered what a series of fireworks being set off within your nostrils must feel like. Restraint might dictate that we call it a night with the thunder sauce, but this was not destined to be regarded as a night of restraint. (Note to self: Be sure to cancel that upcoming ENT appointment. All recent issues have seemingly been resolved; and bonus, I think I can see dead people now. ) Near the conclusion of our meal a near tug o' war occurred over the plates with which our meals arrived and the inevitable question was asked, "Look, if you're gonna keep licking your plates, just know that we're gonna eventually need those back, ok?" And that's...Henry's Take. #londongreatfoodiscalling

    Chicken Pie

Lovely interior - sort of like a small French restaurant. Kind service/servers. Pricey. I was disappointed that on my visit, one of their known-for plates (fritto misto) was not available. Started with a double scotch (which in typical UK fashion is scant). Also enjoyed a glass of wine - which is nearly the price of a whole bottle retail. Wine temp - perfect. Oysters were 5 stars. Bread/butter great. Onto their famous eel sandwich. Eel was not tender. Reminded me of NY deli whitefish, but unsmoked. Very tasty - some horseradish in the dish which I love. However, I don't understand the rave reviews/fuss. Tasty - but not epic by any means. Onto the main - A British pie - of the chicken variety tonight. The quality and quantity of the chicken in the pie was totally phenomenal. Unfortunately, that's where the enjoyment ends. Under seasoned. Think boiled chicken in cream with a hint of tarragon. Pastry on the pie was pretty in looks. Blah in taste. Skipped dessert. Overall - disappointed with my visit. Would not return. Would not recommend.

Miles away from the Soho madness bubbling up just outside QV's front doors (Cough, I'm lookin' at you Sunset Strip!) QV Bar is a picture of class and sophistication in a beautiful historic setting. I'd known about the member's club upstairs, but I recently learned that a piece of the restaurant had been re-fashioned into a bar that could be enjoyed by all... and enjoy we did. Sticking to drinks both on and off the menu, the bow-tied barman served up four fine cocktails at about £10 a pop. Just don't be surprised if there's no room at the inn - QV Bar seats about 20 and it's certainly not the type of standing atmosphere that you'll find at other Soho bars. Then again, QV Bar is not "most Soho bars" and that's precisely why I will continue to love it, its class and its relaxed atmosphere for a long time to come. Bravo!

On the last night of my trip to London, the pressure to do something super-special was alive and kicking. Our fave little neighbourhood, Soho, would be hosting me and my friend one last time. But which restaurant... after much research we narrowed the options down to three within walking distance of one another - an axis of non-evil if you like... The first looked a little creepy and wasn't very crowded so we marched on towards the second place: Quo Vadis. Visions of my old DVDs flashed before my eyes -check out the movie of the same name, Robert Taylor has never looked better. Well, except in Knights of the Round Table, but I'd like to think Ava Gardner brought out the best in him on that occasion. Deborah Kerr was no match for Ava - sorry. But I digress... On to Quo Vadis, which looks pretty nice from the outside and since we can't be bothered to walk to the third option, we enter. No reservation means we are seated in the bar area, which we take as a good omen because it's Tuesday night, and the fact that they are so busy on such a dull weekday that they don't even have one free table for two is impressive- right? Welllllllllllll, certainly the seating is nicer than most bar areas I have seen, but that's about it. Despite our high hopes, or perhaps because of them, everything else fails to live up to expectations. Service is not brilliant - by this point, having sampled appalling customer service at almost every turn (see my Harrods review) we shouldn't really be surprised, but sometimes I'd like to think of myself as a glass is half full kind of person, and so I hoped against hope that a place with such a dreamy name and a fancy setting might actually have higher standards. Alas... The appetizers turned out to be the highlight of the evening: soup, and a crab & mayo dish, accompanied by wine, naturally; then again I am a firm believer in the power of mayo- mixed with anything, even cardboard, and it will end up tasting good, so perhaps not the greatest achievement. The main courses disappointed to such an extent that I can't even remember what we ate! Clientele was on the older, and more than likely wealthier side, and getting happily sloshed as we tried to make peace with our dissatisfaction and sadness. I really wanted this place to be better, but I'd rate it as just average with 3 stars, and only because I can't do 2.5. Okay rant over.

    Breakfast at Quo Vadis!

Really good english breakfast in a quiet restaurant. We went there on 10am and it was empty so we enjoyed the restaurant all to ourselves. Good food, nice service and absolutely overwhelming bathrooms. Not too many items on the menu but it was very good!

Had a very nice dinner here. Interesting area of Soho - very lively even late on a Friday night. Quo Vadis is a very attractive restaurant both inside and out. The bar is small but pretty, with a very polished copper countertop. The bartender made a very good cocktail and the mojitos he made for others sitting near us looked delicious! Our starters, a ham hock terrine and a gently seared scallop dish, were excellent. We both had the heritage breed pork chop, perfectly cooked and served over decadently rich mash (really a potato and butter puree). Our side of French beans was delicious and beautifully bright green. Dessert was a shared bittersweet chocolate crunch, both cold and crunchy, and nicely presented with a small piece of gold leaf. Service was friendly, if not overly attentive. They did not rush us and by the time we left had been there for three hours. It did not seem that long by any means. I would definitely return.

Guiding diamanté wall decoration in the ladies loo

You have to be a member, or signed-in by one, to gain access to the elegantly stylish club-bar above the Quo Vadis restaurant. Times have changed since I was last here (when it had definitely seen better days and was looking a little bedraggled around the edges). Today, you'll feel the glitterati-chic vibe as you glide-up the smart staircase and take-in the grown-up, tobacco-brown blocked, raised-flocked wallpaper. Enter and your coats will be smartly hung, in the silver-hued dignified art-deco wardrobes; the refinement continues as the pianist plays a fitting accompaniment to the setting. Sophistication pervades in the suave bar with its cultured display and selection. The red leather club chairs combine with squashy brown leather sofas and a choice of cultivated book titles to browse, as you sip and relax. The cocktail menu demands to be read with its tongue-in-chic humour. Scotch lovers might well be tempted (or amused) by the Coveted Wife (Glenmorangie, apricot brandy, cream and nutmeg) or if you're feeling fragile, perhaps a glass of Penicillin is what the 'doctor' ordered (Dewar's 12, honey, ginger, lemon and Islay Malt). Then again, perhaps a taste of Hello Sailor might better suit your needs. Don't neglect to visit the loo, where the style features continue although I can only vouch for the Ladies. If a little black dress is your outfit of choice, you'll enjoy the diamanté-studded arrows providing a guiding light in your cubicle.

Can you tell I don't get out much? At least for drinks. Anyway. We came here with some friends and took advantage of their 2 for 1 offer (meaning you get two drinks for 10 pounds). It impressed me that they served really good drinks for such a good price. I personally loved The Last Word (super strong but great flavour) and the Elderflower Margarita (YUM!). They both packed a punch but weren't so overpowered with liquor that they didn't taste nice. The bar staff was fun as well. The one that wasn't popular was the honey one. I can't remember the name but none of us liked it. It's a cool bar!

This was one of the few places the bf and I had booked to go to during a brief 3-day trip to London, due to the 2 for £10 cocktails and general good reviews it had. I kinda wish we hadn't! Upon arrival the place was practically empty (but it was like bang on 6pm on a Monday, so a lot of people hadn't arrived for happy hour yet) and staff showed us where our reserved booth was. All good to start off with, the place looks pretty cool inside and the tunes were good too. Here's where it starts to go downhill. I skipped up to the bar having decided with the bf which cocktails to get (at this point we didn't realise 2 for £10 meant two of the SAME cocktail, because they never mention it) and ordered a Strawberry Daiquiri for the bf, plus a Chocolate Martini for myself. Nope, couldn't get the one I wanted as they were out of chocolate liqueur, so it was back to my seat to try and decide on another. I was gutted but excited about my next choice, the Show Me The Honey. NOPE. They were out of honey vodka so I couldn't have that one either! I get that obviously it's a busy bar at weekends, but I thought that was an extremely poor show - the staff weren't hugely apologetic about it either which didn't exactly help. Finally deciding on a Russian Spring Punch (yay, they had all the ingredients for that one!) I ordered the drinks. The bartender said "you know it's 2 for £10 yeah?" but again didn't mention the fact that it's two of the same cocktail for £10. Once he started making up the drinks I of course caught on to what was happening, whereupon he looked at me like I was an idiot for not knowing something they never openly tell you. Great. I begrudgingly paid for our drinks (I wouldn't really have minded except the bf wasn't sure if he'd want more than one cocktail and we now possessed four, plus I was really wanting to try a couple of cocktails instead of two of the same one) and went back to the booth, more than a bit deflated by this point. The cocktails were...fine. The champagne in my cocktail wasn't the nicest but it did the job of course. The atmosphere in the bar was...also fine. But that was it. Fine. It stayed pretty quiet the whole time we were there and I guess just wasn't the whole cocktail bar experience I was expecting. We then made our way to Cahoots where we had an absolute belter of a time and it totally saved our night, goes to show that sometimes you really do get what you pay for!

I'm not sure how close this bar is to Brazilian nightlife, but to me this bar feels typically Brazilian in cadence. I just love the atmosphere, the enthusiasm, the music, you feel transported to another place and I just don't understand how very few people, even those living in Camden, don't know about this bar! I was introduced by a lovely Yelp friend and try and get back whenever I'm in Camden as I really love this place. To me this is one of Camden's real hidden gems. So why do I love it? Let me count the ways: Live music: I'm not sure if there is someone on every night, but I'm always shocked by them hosting some fantastic, extremely talented musicians. Intimate setting: As a tiny little venue you huddle around small tables, it feels cozy, personable and warm. Art work: Walls, ceilings and tables are plastered with art, pictures, paintings collages drape all surfaces. It's like some hipster arty underground cavern... like so many bars in Shoreditch are trying to achieve, but this place isn't trying, it has charm and personality without having to try. Caipirinhas and mojitos: Using traditional Brazilian ingredients the cocktails here are just superb... and after a few you can't help but sink back into your seat and enjoy the ambiance. I'd also recommend the Cuba Libra, I'm usually not a fan, but would make an exception here. As a cocktail bar you need to expect to pay cocktail prices, but the live music, amazing atmosphere and art are free.

Apparently the owners want it to feel like someone's living room and it definitely has a relaxed and locals-come-here vibe, although our seating area was in what was once a VIctorian police cell, which was probably less cosy back in the day. The interesting concept here is to serve small bites of food tailored to each house cocktail which a beautifully presented and explained, as are the cocktails themselves. We sampled almost all of the house cocktail menu and generally everyone was very impressed. I think several people really liked the park bench, with its strong apple flavour, although I personally found it a bit one-note. In fact, I wouldn't say any of the cocktails here got it quite right for my palate, some of the balancing of flavours didn't quite work for me and none of them particularly blew me away. They were pretty good, but there weren't any I found incredibly delicious and "incredibly delicious" is really what I am looking for in a cocktail. I had the Get Me a Bourbon, I'm Hungry and Lost in Alaska. The first was a short drink which wasn't massively memorable, contra my favourite ever bourbon cocktail, the fantastic bourborini once on the specials at Pitt Cue Co. Lost in Alaska I thought was nice although others said they thought it tasted medicinal! Service was great - helpful, patient and attentive. It's expensive, especially now I live in Manchester and can get better cocktails at the Fitzgerald for £4 less, but I would still recommend Knowhere Special, especially if you're nearby having dinner.
