The bathrooms were clean, and each campsite had a nice cover over the table. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. However, the hiking trails were really just walking trails and weren't that exciting. We were also woken up every morning at 5am because the duck hunters would unload near our site and walk down to the lake. If you did manage to fall asleep you were soon woken up to gunshots starting around 6:30 for hunting. The first night, right at dusk, we were attacked by some sort of nasty flying bug.. I think maybe industrial terminates because they came from the ground. It was terrorizing. But didn't happen the second night. And the Javelina's were really cool to see, but an absolute nightmare for our guardian dog. They do get close to the campsite, even if people are out, and our dog declared them as public enemy number one. So we were always on edge and looking for them before he caught wind of them. If you are looking for a chill spot to just hang and camp, I recommend. But if you are looking for more activities in a park, this honestly wasn't the place. The kids activities that were scheduled for the Saturday were cancelled, which was disappointing.

We stayed a week and chose #79, XL site with a concrete pad. Serenely quiet. No traffic, trains, loud music, rude neighbors or highway sounds, only nature. All sites were clean & uncluttered for folks with extended stays. It's a large property with many areas to walk & explore. Laundry room and bathhouses were very clean. Nice size dog play area and it was clean each time we went in. We saw no dog poo when walking through the campground. Lots of beautiful groomed open areas. Everything you need for shopping is nearby. Don't miss the Alamo or the Riverwalk. We would definitely stay here again.

With the recent rains the creek was flowing and children were playing in the water. There is playground equipment for kids, there's a soccer field and the thing I was looking for the most, solitude. I would definitely bring my grandchildren here to burn off some energy. Now there was some trash on the ground but I don't fault the park for that. Some people are just pigs, there are trash cans right next to the picnic tables. You really can't miss them, but some people still do. There are also bbq grills next to the tables. The picnic tables are also spread out so you can have a little privacy while you enjoy the beauty of this park. Here's a little tip, your mother doesn't work here, clean your own trash up.

Coming down, we hiked along native cacti and plants, walked along a dry river bed, and took pics along a pond containing birds and wildlife. End of the trail dropped us in the well maintained green park. Clean bathrooms and community center were nearby. Nice local peaceful hike and you can picnic along the way as benches are scattered throughout.

It was just as beautiful as I remembered. This place truly lives up to its name. Paradise Canyon is privately owned, family-oriented, and offers something for everyone. There are shallow areas where kids can safely swim and play, as well as deeper sections for adults who want to swim or practice their strokes. The grounds are well maintained, the restrooms are clean, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you can spend the entire day relaxing and making memories with your family. I would recommend Paradise Canyon again and again. It's a true Texas gem.
