I stopped in here to pick up coffee and lunch on a Friday afternoon. I ordered two sandwiches to go and also grabbed a piece of the lemon icebox pie because it looked so delicious. I went there for the first time on a Friday. The place had a really nice atmosphere and felt quite cozy. The waitress was so wonderful. She seemed to care very much about my order and was very attentive. The manager was very nice and approached me to introduce herself. Very hospitable. I highly recommend this establishment. I wish I had thought to take pictures as my friend and I ate at this wonderful downtown Marshall location! The decor is warm wood floors and tables, each with a different flower arrangement that leave plenty of room for food/drinks and the food is fresh cooked and wonderful! Plenty of windows and a mirrored wallgive the restaurant an open and spacious feel. I had the smoked turkey and pesto sandwich on fresh baked sourdough bread and it was toasted perfectly, with crisp lettuce and ripe tomato slices. The pesto is probably made in house and could have been on my sandwich a little thicker because it was tasty as well. My friend ordered their best seller roast beef sandwich and said there was good reason for its title. But the highlight was the thick, creamy tomato basil soup! Best I've had anywhere. All this and reasonably priced ($14 for the whole sandwich and a full bowl of soup) and served attractively arranged on a china plate with a cut glass soup bowl instead of the more cafe style basket of other lunch places downtown! As we checked out, of course we were tempted by the case of baked goodies and certainly the lemon blueberry cream muffin put just the right touch to the end of a great meal. Food was prepared promptly, wait staff was attentive and no one seemed to mind that my friend and I chatted and ate for about an hour and a half! Would highly recommend. read more

Beautiful little coffee shop. The owner and her husband obviously enjoy what they do. The ONLY place in this town to get **official** Starbucks....pretty much what you can concoct in a corporate store, you can have whipped up here plus. I ordered a venti XYZ soy extra hot no foam and that's what I got. The owner told us SB corporate grandfathered her in long ago, but she can't really "advertise" per se, you know all those persnickety corporate rules. Lol. But Hubby and I were able to get our SB fix just the same. I didn't try using my SB gold card app, we just assumed not to. The decor is rather elegant, although we felt very welcomed, it was casual comfortable. We visited during the holidays so we enjoyed their Christmas time lighting. Owner said hubby makes all the pastries and baked goods.....lucky lady.....lol. Our treats --we had that big buttercreme frosted mnm topped cookie and the cinnamon-coffee muffin--both were fresh, moist and tasty, so good with our coffee drinks. I've been stopping in for coffee @ R & R Bakery for years. Today I ordered coffee during a "down time" & began a conversation with an employee. After I received my coffee the manager called the said employee and scolded him. My understanding was that employees are not supposed to visit with patrons. That is the last time I go for coffee at R & R Bakery. I'll not put one penny more into that restaurant. Not appropriate to make sure the employee was disciplined in front of customers. read more

Excellent service, really nice people that work there. I go in solely for Starbucks. They are licensed to sell everything that's on the Starbuck's menu. Yes, I know they opened a new Starbuck's in town, the place was built in an awful location, the service has been horrid - getting orders wrong and having to go back in to get it fixed. Go to R&R and they get the order done right, every single time and they don't have a huge line of people waiting and great attitudes from all the workers there. read more

We read about this coffee shop in a travel magazine thus we just had to stop the next time we were in Marshall. We entered town in mid morning from Interstate 20. A word of caution, we have never seen so many stop light cameras in a small town as we saw getting to this restaurant. Certainly not a good image upon entering this small town. There were so many, we almost turned around to exit the town. We just do not approve of these money grabbing electronic gadgets, however we kept in mind our coffee shop destination. The coffee shop in just across the street from the courthouse and when we entered there were no other customers however this changed as some additional customers started coming for lunch and to go orders. The place is very tastefully decorated with small tables covered with a deep maroon cloth and artificial flowers decorating every table. Dark wood on the ceiling and floors gave the place an elegant feeling. There is a coffee bar in the back where you place your order. You also cannot miss the pastry counter just to your left. I was startled by being given a Starbucks paper cup then I noticed the coffee was Starbucks, the coffee menu was similar to Starbucks and the cups were Starbucks. Just had to ask, since I was under the impression that Starbucks had no franchises (per se) and was told here was a working arrangement with Starbucks since there were no Starbuck stores in Marshall. We enjoyed a apple- pecan muffin along with our coffee. The muffin was moist, fresh and delicious. This place is a real asset to any downtown. read more

Several co-workers and I stopped in here for lunch last week. One of my friends ordered the grilled chicken salad - it was beautiful - had dried cranberries, walnuts, and served on fresh baby greens. I looked yummy - she said it was great. I had the roast beef sandwich - which isn't something I would normally choose for lunch- but the menu stated that it was the restaurant's most popular lunch choice, so I figured I should try it. The roast beef was good, served on a homemade bread which was so very soft it nearly melts in your mouth - it was a jalapeno infused bread - so tasty! They tasted like pillows of heavenly goodness! And they were buttered and toasted before assembling the sandwich - wow!! This sandwich had a tasty guacamole spread and melty pepper jack cheese as well - the flavors just melted together. We also had the tropical iced tea - also tasty. This place also boasts serving Starbucks coffee. They have all of the usual specialty coffee drinks, which smell divine when you walk through the door of the restaurant. As I said, we met here for lunch, they are only open through the early afternoon, so make sure you stop in for lunch or for coffee or any of the beautiful bakery items (their cookies are HUGE!) They aren't open for dinner and the owner told us that they don't rent the restaurant out for events - the decor is comfy elegant so it is a real pity. A Marshall version of ladies who lunch tearoom lunch place. Light sandwiches and soups. Most folks seem to like the food more than I do. They sandwiches are all made on bread that is apparently baked at the bakery. Frankly, I find most of the breads too sweet and lacking in texture for my taste. But other than that, and being rather small, they're not bad. Soups are generally better than the sandwiches, but again, the portion that comes with the sandwich is smallish (and should come before the sandwich, to my mind). But not a bad choice if you're not too hungry. read more

R&R is the only place in Marshall to get Starbucks coffee. Their muffins and sandwiches are great. The owners of this restaurant are great people and always great you with a smile. I've probably eaten here 100 times. This is where the locals eat who don't want fast food. Enjoy! read more

This place is great! I wish I could give half stars, because I would definitely give 4.5. The coffee is wonderful. They use Starbucks coffee which is made right there. The food is average. Nothing over the top, and nothing underappreciative. The entire atmosphere is great! Dark wood floors, and nice linen tabletops. Love their scones and the huge cinnamon coffee muffin with a cup of Starbucks coffee, the only place in town that serves Starbucks. The roast beef sandwich is great, too. The atmosphere is comfortable and elegant without being stuffy. The owners are almost always around and available just to stop and say hello. It's only open until 3:00 in the afternoons and on Saturday it closes even earlier. Closed on Sundays. It has a lovely window table side view of the courthouse square and it's a nice place to just sit and relax any morning. read more

R&R is one of the only places you can get Starbucks within a 30 minute or so drive. Its a quaint little coffee shop and bakery that is also a good place for a lunch date or business meeting. They offer a variety of vegan and non-vegan bakery goods, sandwiches, etc.. As a vegan, I'm glad to see Marshall and R&R offering a second menu to cater to our dietary restrictions. The only downside is that they close at 3pm. Would be great to be able to hit this place up right after work and snag a coffee before going home. read more
