I was pleasantly surprised with this place. The service was great. I felt like I was being served by my friend and not a stranger. It's a cute place with an old fashioned atmosphere, like stepping back in time. I'd still call it a hole in the wall but those are the best!!!!!! The pie was THE BEST part of this lunch!

Sandwich was great, really held up even though it was cornbread. The soup was hearty and delicious. A welcome respite from greasy food on the road.

Cute place within walking distance of my hotel. Like most of the town, it's an older building that is dated, but clean and quaint. I arrived at 11:28 with one couple ahead of me and the door opened promptly at 11:30 where we were sat immediately as at least 20 other folks began crossing the streets to come in. With 75% of the businesses here being closed the first part of the week, this is obviously the "go-to" spot for a lot of the locals. Kitt herself waited on me and I was sat and had my food in about 5 minutes. I had the cheeseburger on jalapeño with a small side of frito chili pie. Both were good and the perfect size meal for lunch. But when I saw that they had key lime pie, I had to try it. Most places will just add lime juice to a cream cheese base which is always disappointing for me. This, however, was the custard-like texture with actual KEY lime in it that I'm always hoping for. Right on the edge of too tart but not, balanced with the sweet, and a hand formed crust. This is the BEST key lime pie I've personally ever had.

I love supporting hole in the wall, local, mom and pop shops. As soon I arrived, I learned that this restaurant had a twist on their sandwiches - all the bread was cornbread. I didn't even know that could be a thing! I decided to go all in and try it. Why not, right? I was pleasantly surprised at the food. Not great, but not bad for a sandwich either. My only other complaint was the portion size. I would have ordered two sandwiches to get full. -1 star for the food not being great. The dessert was okay. Would have been much better if it was truly chilled. I came in on a Saturday afternoon, and they were not too busy by time we ordered our food. After we put in the order, the staff only came back to our table once or twice. No refills, and I had to get their attention to get the check. -1 star for the lack of service. I wouldn't go out of my way for this restaurant, but would try again if the BBQ next door doesn't meet my fancy.

This is my fourth trip to Caddo lake and I still haven't eaten at Kitt's Kornbread. Well, this weekend just happened to be the EAST TEXAS BURN RUN, a biker rally benefiting children burn victims. Folks, there was an easy 2 to 3 thousand bikes there. It was amazing. So many people coming together to benefit the children. Anyway, by the time we looked at bikes, visited the vendors, and talked to who knows how many people, it was time to eat. The line at Kitt's was out the door and down the sidewalk! But we waited, and waited. We're finally inside and at a table. Their selection of combo meals is excellent. All sandwiches are on Kornbread instead of bread. Different, but good! We did the Sicilian with broccoli salad, the Club with frito pie, a turkey wrap, and chicken and dumplings. Everything was delicious, definitely 4/5. There probably 20 different pies, but we're too full! Next time. Go to Kitt's!

We've been here twice in our four days in Jefferson. Excellent lunch and the pies/cobblers are amazing.

The restaurant is very simple. There is nothing fancy about the ambience at all. It's just downhome country. You order at the register and then grab a table. We got there just before the after church Sunday rush so we were able to find a table easily. Shortly after we got our food, the line was out the door. The food came very quickly. They call your name and bring the food to the table. I had a two meat platter with turkey and brisket. The turkey was tender and just slightly smoky. The brisket was excellent. I forgot to ask for lean like I usually do but the brisket was not overly fatty. The meat was very smoky, very tender, and very flavorful. The portion was generous for $18. I would guess half a pound of each meat (?) The sauce on the table is a bit sweet and tangy. The BBQ beans were excellent. The potato salad was good but needed salt. We all enjoyed our meal. Even the kid, who is super picky, ate a bunch of brisket. It was a good choice and I definitely would eat here again if we came to Jefferson City.

Oh well, we stumbled into Taste of Caddo and were glad we did and that they were open because we were hungry! It's a decent sized small establishment with maybe 15 tables. The decor is East Texas/Louisiana which goes perfectly with the name. There were 6 of us, we were staying in RVs at the state park but wanted a break from doing our own cooking. The server seated us quickly and we soon ordered drinks. A few minutes later after the drinks arrived we put in our food orders. I decided to have a good old fashioned hamburger, they called the one I ordered a Swamp Burger but there was nothing swampy about it. 1/2 lb of meat, cheddar cheese, grilled onions and mushroom son a brioche bun and served with a good size helping of home made fries. My wife opted for lighter fare with the Chef Salad. Both of our meals were great and our friends enjoyed theirs as well. The place is quite casual and I imagine popular with locals as well as tourists. They were in no rush to get us to vacate our table, we finally had to ask for checks. Our server said, "just meet me at the register" so we lined up and paid our bills. When in Jefferson, give Taste of Caddo a try, they are doing a great job of serving up good food and hospitality.
