This resulted in a large quantity of the toilet water going into my storage room and causing significant damage to photo albums, paper records, etc. Your man returned to reinstall the toilet. This time the drain pipe the toilet attaches to got cracked. As a result, when he left, the nuts that secure the toilet to the drain pipe could not be tightened and the caps that cover the nuts were missing. In addition, the toilet was not caulked. They told us he retired and they were running things much better, etc. Although, they didn't give firm dates of service just a week of they claimed they would contact us the day prior to inform us an ETA. Instead, this afternoon, I received a text message saying a technician was in route to my home. I had to scramble out of a meeting to deal with an unannounced service and contact the place. I was greeted by a dismissive manager, Mike who began his communications with "Listen, here's the deal, if you don't like us or our pricing go find someone else." Transitioning away from a business you trusted for years is tough enough, but being met with that level of hostility and dismissive attitude is a hard stop for us. Oh and one more minor detail.....Their 113% PRICE HIKE (from $300 to $640) is bad business, plain and simple. When they came out to prepare the install, I shared my dissatisfaction with another septic installer's plan approved by the county (I didn't know any better). Eric the owner suggested a different approach, which completely met my request and got everything approved, installed and cleared up in short order - I was thrilled. The storms came in July and trees dropped everywhere, power was out. Our Electric Company came out to restore power and restring power lines where trees took them out. You would think they would see the Universal Septic sign I put right over the tank and field but they didn't, they drove right over the tank. I called Eric for help, he came out and saw the tank was crushed. He gave me a replacement estimate really fast, after all the communication was completed, he installed the new tank in just a few days. You can't ask for better communication, service and responsiveness. I had contacted 4 different installers and got a lot of delay, lack of return phone calls and over-pricing. I highly recommend Universal to everyone.

I asked if they could pump my tank that day and I mentioned it was 15,000 gallons. After a few questions from Chris he said it's probably only a 1000 gallon tank. Greg came out that afternoon and confirmed it was a 1000 Gallon tank, which saved me a $100, the other company had always charged me for 15,000 gallons. Greg worked real hard to pump it completely dry, it was a couple of years over due and had more sludge than it should have. I commend Hartland Septic (and Greg) for a job well done!
