We contacted RV Rapid Repairs, who diagnosed the problem as a faulty step controller and told us they needed to order the necessary part. We were leaving for the Florida Keys for a few days, so we agreed to meet them again on our way back through Miami. We had no issue with the delay while waiting for the parts. A technician met us as arranged and replaced the controller. We paid around $450 for the controller and labor. However, the electronic step still did not work. Because the step was inconvenient but not critical, we waited until we returned home to have a local RV technician look at it. He determined that the controller needed to be replaced, ordered a new one, and installed it. The step immediately began working properly. What concerned us most was the controller that RV Rapid Repairs had supposedly replaced appeared to be a used part. The part they left on our motorhome was old and dirty, with paint on the wiring, making it appear as though it may have been the original controller installed when the motorhome was manufactured. At the very least, it clearly did not appear to be a new replacement part. We understand that repairs don't always go as planned, especially with electrical issues. What we cannot accept is being charged for a new part when the part left on our motorhome appeared old and used. Based on this experience, we cannot recommend RV Rapid Repairs. We were extremely disappointed with the service and have serious concerns about the honesty and quality of the repair we received.
