Bought laminate flooring from REC in Johnstown, PA. Gave them the exact dimensions. 8 ft. X 18 ft. for a new sunroom. They told me I need 6 boxes to do the floor. We ordered the flooring for $777.00. Our contractor only needed 4 1/2 boxes to complete the floor. They would not take the unused box back. So they got me for $122.00 approximately. Be careful buying from REC. This place is a joke. My wife and I were in the store in January 2020 and picked tile for a backsplash in our kitchen. The person at the store stated that their tile guy (Joe) would contact us and come and measure to determine how much was needed and provide an estimate. The tile guy didn't contact us or show up for a month. He did come and measure and talk about the job around February 19th. Several days later I had to call REC to get the job estimate details. At that time I accepted the offer and gave the salesperson my credit card info and made a $500 deposit. The charge never showed up on my credit card so on February 24, 2020 I made a trip to the store. The person that I spoke with ran the deposit on my credit card and stated that the tile would be delivered in about 2 weeks. The governor closed all nonessential places of business around mid-March due to the pandemic. No one ever called or contacted us regarding our order. On May 20th after REC was permitted to open I again had to visited the store to find out the status of my tile order. The person I spoke with said that the tile had come in and the tile guy could do the job on May 21 or 22. Later that day I received a phone call from REC stating that they had opened the tile boxes and the wrong size tile was sent from Daltile. They could reorder the tile and it would take 2 weeks and arrive on June 3rd and the tile guy could do the job by June 5th. Three weeks later on June 23rd after no calls from REC, I called REC again and spoke with a person that stated he would contact the tile guy. When he called back he said that the tile guy could do it on July 2nd or 3rd. My wife and I were so tired of waiting not to mention very frustrated. I indicated that we wanted our $500 deposit back (which they had held onto since February 24th). I made another trip to REC for them to process my $500 credit. The person I spoke with was very apologetic (too little...to late). Not considering the delay caused by the COVID19 lockdown; the delay and lack of consideration and communication by this company is unacceptable. Holding on to $500 of someone's money for four months is ridiculous. No one calls to advise you of the status of your order or follows up in any way. I will definitely never do business with this company again and will spread the word regarding their slipshod attitude and operation. I would urge you to steer clear of this place. read more

Worst service! My boyfriend and I went to rec carpeting planning on buying a carpet trying to keep our business local. When we walked in the workers just stared at us so we wandered around. One of the ladies then came over and asked what we were looking for. We said carpeting. She pointed in one room and said that stuff takes 2-3 weeks to get in and she pointed to another room and said that's what we have in stock and walked away. We went back into the room with the carpet "in stock" all there was was a bunch of outdated carpets that we're barely big enough to do a bedroom and they all had sold on them. We just wandered around aimlessly hoping someone would help us and we got frustrated and walked out without anyone caring if they sold a carpet or not. No one even offered real help or said a word when we walked out. Rec carpeting gets a zero from us!! read more

Went in looking to carpet two bedrooms and look for LVT for our kitchen. The girls behind the counter were new and I remembered them both from working at the mall. They both were extremely helpful in helping us pick out the perfect carpet for both rooms & the flooring for the kitchen. They worked great as a team, and gave us much attention and some great ideas. There was so much to choose from, but they helped us not to feel overwhelmed. They encouraged us to take a few boards home to be sure of our choices. They were not pushy or high pressuring towards us. After deciding on everything we were taken care of by the two office managers who took our down payment and scheduled our install. Again very professional and very accommodating! Both groups of installers were equally nice and very professional doing their jobs. We love our new kitchen floor and bedroom carpet.
