While trying to manage my moms transition from the hospital to a skilled nursing facility, my own leave of absence from work, and missing my last child's last football game and all the other senior year activities - I was overwhelmed. I also needed to choose the right paint colors to make their home as attractive to buyers as possible, which in the best of situations is challenging, but I was in a serious pinch. Thankfully, God IS good - all the time! I walked in to JC Licht because they were the closest store to my moms SNF that sold BM paint. Ada (not sure about the spelling, sorry Ada!) approached me and I told her the three paint colors I thought I was looking for - but I really had not had time to consider how much natural light or lack there of, or how the colors would look with their hardwoods, or any of the other dozens of things that can make a paint color "all good" or terrible. She listened to every bit of information I could give her, and confidently told me the paint color and trim color I needed. And she was 100% right!!! She also helped me think through all of the other items I would need, helped me choose the right caulk, make sense of what tools I really needed (as well as what I didn't) and set up an account for me. I thought we'd be out by the middle of November, but as October moved into November, moved into December, I realized that she was right again! I needed one, it cost nothing and saved me a bundle! This young woman knows her stuff and she was SO much more than kind in her assistance to me. JC Licht Vernon Hills is fortunate to have such a competent - no skilled - no gifted! sales person working for them! Thank you Ada!!! Their house finally made it onto MLS Dec. 30th and it looks beautiful, thanks to your help! You are a remarkable young woman, and I realize that to you - it may seem like you did an old girl a small service, but I was SO overwhelmed, and you cleared my confusion, saw EXACTLY what was needed and guided me perfectly! Our project consisted of extensive drywall repairs after trim and chair rail removal. Painting, Wallpapering a 25ft stairwell, stairway railings, door painting and of course ceilings and trim. The photos don't do the job justice as we had work upstairs, downstairs, and even a repair job to the side of the house from water damage. Steve's employees were extremely skilled, fast, neat perfectionists. They weren't beginners or summer college students. They were very experienced at what they do. The price stuck at exactly what he quoted even though there were some adjustments here and there. The wallpaper job was exemplary and we were very particular about that aspect because it was custom wallpaper and very expensive. Steve is not a pressure salesman and he just does what he says he's going to do, and the work was perfect and fast. Jack was the only vendor that I started communicating with, but somehow he was able to see that 3 other companies wanted to offer an estimate for the work. Jack sent me a message that started with the questions he has such as address and style of wallpaper I wanted installed. Within the same message Jack then said "I just looked and you have 4 quotes, so this isn't for me". I found this to be very rude. Jack was the only vendor that I was conversing with. He must not understand the website that he is part of and that other vendors are seeked to quote for a job request. Jack passed up new business and I felt he was rude. Even though I have not spoken with other companies at this time it is very standard for a consumer to receive more than one quote, and companies such as Hanlon should not be offended by that, or make potential new business feel offended.
