Canyon Carpet One Floor & Home

Canyon Carpet One Floor & Home

On the day of service, the technician didn't show up and we received no phone calls. I then attempted to call and received their answer ring service where I asked for a call back. Today, a day later.. I had to call them (again). I was told they missed my appointment and didn't come. Very unprofessional. Very disappointing

I'll start by saying I'm satisfied with the final product of working with Canyon Carpet One. I had…read morevinyl and carpet installed in my condo and both look excellent. Manuel and his coworker installed the vinyl, and they were professional and respectful of my home, as I was living through the renovations with family and pets. As a young woman, I rarely feel like I have such respectful experiences with people renovating and repairing my space so I really appreciated this. However, the lack of communication between the employees of CCO is an issue. An ordering fiasco with the carpet resulted in my vinyl arriving long before the final carpet could get ordered (I picked two colors that were both discontinued). Not a huge issue ultimately, just a bit of a delay. Beyond the confusion with the manufacturer, I was called more than once to say "we're coming tomorrow" with no regard for my schedule. When Ted called to see if I could have work done on the following Thursday, I told him no but Friday would work. He said he'd see if he could move stuff around and he would call me back. A week passes with no call, then on Thursday I receive a call from the office saying "We'll be there tomorrow for your carpet!" When I expressed surprise and frustration that I had received less than a day's notice, the woman I spoke with responded with a snotty "Oh, sorry." After the carpet installation (different installers from the vinyl), I found scraps of carpet left in closets, trash from the workers, and several nails sticking up from the transition between the carpet and vinyl. When I called to express my concern and get someone to repair it--as everyone in my home had stepped on these nails accidentally--no one contacted me until Manuel, my original installer, called me at work two days later saying "I'm at your door. No one is answering." because Ted told him I would be home, despite me only expressing frustration and a need for change in my original call. I never gave my availability. I know renovations aren't fun to live through, and I know projects such as these get delayed and extended constantly. That's the norm, but the disorganization and challenging customer service is not. As a big supporter of local/family-owned businesses, I wanted to work with CCO, and in the end I'll say I was fine to do business with them. I'll reiterate that the final product looks great, but I could have done without the extra headache of surprise installation scheduling.

Western Design Coatings - Vinyl Chip Floor System

    Western Design Coatings

On June 6, 2015, Western Design Coatings gave us a bid to resurface a home concrete job that they…read moreoriginally installed in 2005. After ten years, the coating color in front had faded considerably from the sun and needed a refresh, and we asked them to also place the overlay on our pool deck which required that we drain our pool. The work went without a hitch and they finished in about week and we were relatively pleased with the work. However, after the contractors left, we noticed a thick layer of concrete dust had settled into our pool from Western's grinding work. When we asked Western to come out - specifically, we asked the owner, he was clearly annoyed - as if it was our responsibility to clean their mess. That began the spiral downward. Western came out early Saturday morning with a spray washer and shop vac. When they loosened up the dust into what was now a concrete slurry, they simply dumped the white slurry over their own concrete work and into the ground surrounding the pool. It was a muddy, white mess. Then, while cleaning the overlay, we noticed that it sounded like the overlay was coming unbonded from the concrete below. To help Western with this, we sent a brief video clip and photo of the unbonding area. Western then ignored our emails. When we pressed further, we stressed that if Western felt it wasn't an issue, that we wanted to hear that. Instead, the owner came out to our home, listened to our concerns and then said, "you told me to come out here for this!" (note, we didn't "tell him come out" we simply asked his opinion of it.) He shouted that we were wasting his time for a "$3,000 job" (we paid almost $4,000) and he didn't touch the issues. Unbelievable. When a customer has a reasonable concern and asks questions regarding the job in a respectful manner, you treat them like garbage based on the dollar amount of the job? We will never, ever recommend Western Design Coatings to anyone and recommend that all Yelp users steer clear of this unprofessional company owner.
