Since moving to Redding 4 yrs ago, my husband and I have had to change dentists 3 times!! We had a wonderful dentist in the Bay Area, but found it hard to find a good one here.....until I went to Dr. Barnhart. First off she has an amazing personality and everyone in her office treat each other with kindness and respect. You can feel it when you walk in! There is no ridiculous upselling of products or procedures (one dentist tried to get both of us into braces during our 1st visit) and she's very progressive with the latest machines, techniques, etc. I was even able to talk my husband into giving her a try and he is very happy as well. Very unethical office now and I have gone here since 2019, Barnhardt is no longer there. I went in for a 1 year old crown this dentist set that the seal was causing pain. I have a 30 year old crown that has never done this so I feel they are not performing quality work. I was stood up and the entire staff was standing around talking because they had canceled all of their appointments as the "stand in" dentist didn't come in that day. I rescheduled and went back and was told that the premium insurance I have always used there was no longer accepted in fact they stated they were "out of network on all insurance" and that I had to pay cash up front before being seen. This is an indication of something has gone wrong with this office, so I canceled and am billed $100. Glad to pay and will never go back. I do not recommend this business. read more

This place is the most funky, & more importantly, unethical Dentist office I have ever visited. The actual dentist barely sees you as the dental technicians do all the work on your teeth. I was in the dental chair for 4 hours getting a filling re-done, and my mouth hurt for 3 weeks afterwards. Most of the time I spent in the dental chair was waiting for the next person to come. They told me I needed a root canal, but when I went to a specialist, he said I didn't. Then they kept billing me for procedures that I had already paid for. Do NOT Recommend this place under any circumstances. read more

The entire office, staff, and Dr Barnhart are amazing. They promptly got me in when having an issue and fixed it as soon as they could. They followed up several times to make sure everything was ok. Had the best dentist experience yesterday. They have the cutest therapy Frenchie, who made my day, but all of the staff was so kind and calm. I'm scared of going to the dentist even just a cleaning but Dr Barnhart and her Hygienist yesterday made the experience so good. I appreciated that she didn't try to bamboozle me into any extra unnecessary work on my teeth but helped me find solutions to reverse the issues I'm dealing with and a solution to the problem before digging into my teeth and charging me lots of money. Let me start out by saying that it had been quite a while since I had been to the dentist, I was nervous about what the dentist would say and embarrassed about how long it had been since I had last gone. Not looking forward to my appointment was an understatement. Now having said all that, the staff in this office are amazing. They are friendly, compassionate, knowledgeable, and thorough. From start to finish they were awesome, check-in was quick my exam thorough and everything was explained to me along the way. Dr. Barnhart was compassionate and gave me options, she didn't attempt to push me into anything I couldn't afford or didn't feel comfortable with. As an added bonus they have Fendi, the therapy dog. Went to Dr. Rachel Barnhart for a second opinion on a root canal. I am embarrassed by my teeth and how long it's been since I've seen a dentist and the entire staff, including Fendi the pug (therapy dog) made me feel right at home and EXTREMELY welcome! From being greeted at the front desk by the office manager Courtney, to ending my visit and paying my bill with Michelle. I couldn't have been more happy with the service no matter how hard I tried. Sam was very professional, detail oriented, as well as informative during my cleaning and told me every step what was happening. I was not hit with any surprise costs and I cannot wait to go back and work with the entire staff again to get my teeth/mouth in order! read more

I was absolutely impressed with my two visits. The staff is very friendly, inviting and caring. Not to mention they may have the cutes puppy in town that brings many smiles! I got my regular cleaning and was very satisfied! They took a good amount of time to do a detailed cleaning and I was very comfortable. Dr. Barnhart bought Dr. Parmely's practice at a time when I was disputing charges to my account. Since Dr. Barnhart purchased the accounts receivables of Dr. Parmely I sent a letter explaining my dispute and requested a written (or email) reply. Her only answer was from the biller who said "Dr. says you have to make the account current", which I did without receiving any response to my letter. Six months earlier I had scheduled a cleaning appointment and I followed through with the new office. Upon arriving I was told I must have new "full mouth X-Rays". I said no, I just want the cleaning. Dr. Barnhart said that "the law requires us" and I asked her if Dr. Parmely had been violating the law since I only had partial X-Rays on file and she said yes. I don't believe it. If every returning Parmely patient is required to have full mouth X-Rays it would be a big revenue generator to help pay for the practice purchase. I have no idea how good a dentist Dr. Barnhart is but as a business person she has failed I my trust. There are many excellent dentists in Redding and I will take my business elsewhere. read more

They said it was a scan my insurance didn't cover. They couldn't even tell me what it was because it was covered. They scammed me $600. read more

Such a beautiful and clean office! All the staff is friendly and helpful from the moment you check in to the time you leave. The girls up front and the back office staff are genuine, fun and informative. It's so nice to finally have a dentist in the Redding area who is kind, gentle and honest. Dr. Barnhart and her team go above and beyond to make their patients feel comfortable and welcome - from offering an extra pillow for comfort in the chair to offering a blanket for warmth. It's clear that the doctor takes pride in her work and doing the best job she can. I'm so thankful to have a dentist who has the patient's best interest at heart, who takes the time to explain treatment and who just wants to do the right thing. When you meet the doctor you'll know instantly that dentistry is her passion. How refreshing it is to have your dentist actually love what she does! Took my three year old daughter to see Dr Barnhart today for the first time and it couldn't have gone better. The dental hygienist Candy was incredibly patient with my very nervous little girl during her cleaning and X-rays and Dr Barnhart made my her feel very at ease while making her a balloon animal. I went to Dr Barnhart because I lost a filling and being somewhat new in town I was unable to get an appt anywhere else. By the time I left her office I'm scheduled for 3 root canals and 2 fillings. That first visit cost me over $300, x-rays and a temp filling.They sent me to another new dentist in town for the root canal. That first visit was over $150 -nothing done yet. Estimated cost remaining..close to $8,000. Which was discounted because I have no dental insurance. I've never heard of anyone getting a root canal without first experiencing some kind of pain or at least some discomfort. So I went to an older established dentist here in Redding for a second opinion. I actually only need ONE root canal. That's it-only ONE!! Dr Barnhart was going to remove the roots of 2 otherwise healthy teeth. $8,000 of my money-that should be a felony! My root canal actually had complications and my total cost is still only $1,300. And that's with a specialist. The dentist who saved me STILL hasn't charged me ANYTHING! BOTTOM LINE: I do NOT recommend DR Barnhart OR The new dentist who has an office across from the VA on Hartnell. The established dentist in that office is retiring. His choice of a replacement is a poor choice, he went along with Dr Barnharts scam. I'm still shocked that this happened. I expect it at an auto repair shop-but a dentist?!! read more
