Very unprofessional - had a scheduled apartment tour with Cristina and she never showed up. Another broker, Adam, was showing other apartments and informed me the scheduled apartment was no longer available. Cristina failed to inform me of this and I showed up for our appointment to see it. This is extremely unprofessional and shows clearly poor communication and lack of simple consideration for prospective renters' time in this already hectic market where every minute spent counts. read more

If I could I would give it a zero star. It was such a headache working with them. They lied to us many times changing stories. First they said we can install a split AC, and right before we were about to sign a contract they said we cannot. Then, they told us that we can put flower pot holder outside the window, just so they can tell us no again after we have already put our deposit down. We were being tricked to buying a newly renovated place, but just to find out the renovation on our place was so crappy, lots of unsealed areas that we had to deal with roaches, and we will be moving from apparently a newly renovated place less than a year of buying. read more

I was initially a bit wary of Dynah because of the bad reviews, but she ended up being great. I have zero complaints. She was incredibly helpful, showed us places that exactly fit what we wanted, was prompt about helping us apply, etc. She gave us a one-month fee, which is what we wanted, and she was able to negotiate the monthly rent and the lease start date for us. No other brokers were able to negotiate the lease start date as much as she was able to, so we really appreciated that. She never changed her fee after she promised us one month. We also talked to several tenants in our apartment building, and they all said they love the building and that our rent was reasonable based on their own rents. She found us a place that another broker (one from a top-rated realtor firm that does amazing work) said was a gem and couldn't believe existed. My two roommates and I are very pleased with what we found and with the professionalism and promptness of Dynah and Rachel Realty. read more

Never, ever work with these people. They are the bottom of the barrel in the real estate industry. They lied to me and my family both in person and in writing multiple times as well as just used us as a pawn to get higher offers. The worst was when they gave us a lease to sign, with a move-in date, and then just ghosted us. We found out the next day, via a Trulia alert, that thy had given the apt to someone else. They will two time and double cross you at the drop of a hat and don't even have the courage to tell you. Stay away at all all costs. read more

This place is horrible and tried to extort key money from me. The only reason the scam failed was because of the broker's complete idiocy. Dynah Kent was the leasing broker for an apartment I rented. She advertised the apartment on Streeteasy as "no-fee", but after I applied and paid a $300 application fee, she told me that there was a broker's fee after all -- there was some confusion about price with the landlord, and the landlord will not be paying her fee anymore and it was up to the renter. I never signed any fee agreement with Rachel Realty, yet after the leases were signed and my landlord told Dynah I could have my keys, Dynah refused to give me the keys or a copy of my lease unless I paid an additional broker's fee. What was more appalling was that I had learned my landlord was already paying a broker fee, contrary to what Dynah had said before. After the lease signing, I was alternately harassed with threats from Dynah that the apartment would be given to someone else unless I paid, and pressured to walk away from the deal with an application fee refund. I also got lots of excuses like "It's our company's policy that you have to pay and I have no power to change it." I left the office without the keys or lease. After a while Dynah called me back and let me have my keys without any key money, most likely because she realized what she was doing was really illegal. Besides the illegal stuff, I don't think her behavior was professional or competent at all. She is a terrible speller and rudely pushy. When we were setting up a lease signing and I told her from work that I couldn't sign the lease that same evening, she texted me, "It's crucial we sign lease today. May I pls know why u can't make it today?" Never mind that it wasn't crucial at all and that it's none of her business what I'm up to for the rest of the day. read more

Rachel's Realty disappointed me. The agency focuses on the UWS, but they seemed to have a limited assortment of apartments (or a lot of the same type of apartments--over-priced and depressing). Communication with the broker was erratic, and she often couldn't tell me what the fee was on an apartment when she showed it to me. read more

The real estate agent, Dynah, was professional and thorough and was able to find me a rental. However, she played a bait and switch with her broker Rachel with me on the fee. First I was promised 8 1/2%, then it was 12% but at the last minute Dynah said her broker insisted on the fll 15% fee. If you use them, get their fee in writing! read more

Rachel Realty is the best, and we wouldn't consider going to anyone else after our experience with them. We were so pleased with the service and consideration we received, which is why I find the other reviews completely mystifying. We were lucky enough to find Rachel Realty when we moved to NYC, and then we reached out to them again later on, when we were interested in some of their other offerings. Our brokers Danniel and Marie were kind, accommodating, attentive and so sweet to us during both moves. They stood out in stark contrast to some of the other brokers we met with when we first got here, all of whom ranged from pushy and manipulative to downright sleazy, which is why we went straight back to RR and to no other agency when we were thinking about upgrading. Danniel and Marie checked in on us throughout the process to explain the next steps, what we needed to do, and help us out. They didn't force any pitches or pressuring sales tactics on us at any point, and they went out of their way to answer all our questions and address any concerns we had.
