On a motorcycle ride going from California to New Mexico Highway 50 decided us to stay ELI Nevada if anybody is coming through this town, stop off at this restaurant food is legit. I wish I could eat other things off the menu. I had the center pork chops they are excellent. but their pulled pork looked amazing Everything looked great. Their burgers look great too. RACKS is an absolute gem tucked right in the middle of Ely! Their dog-friendly patio is so pleasant and spacious, surrounded by trees and shaded by nearby buildings--such a comfortable spot to relax with your pup. The menu is huge, but if there's one thing you absolutely have to try, it's the peach wings. I can honestly say they were out of this world--so good that I would happily travel 4 hours from Vegas just to have them again. That's how unforgettable they are! On top of the food, the service here is wonderful. Every server we interacted with was so kind, sweet, and even asked to pet my dog, which just made the experience feel even more warm and welcoming. This review is a few weeks old but I want to make sure I post a review on this little bar & grill in Ely, NV. We were traveling through Ely on the way to Utah and checked Yelp for a place for lunch. Being a small mining town, it looked as if most places were closed on the weekends but Rack's appeared to be open so we headed strait over. The restaurant appears to be a locals spot but I'm going to assume by the reviews, it may have as many travelers who visit this establishment. The restaurant is small with taxidermy on the walls and plenty of gambling machines at the bar. They have a nice patio out back as well. I didn't see any seating outside but it was cold so I'm not sure if they add tables in season. Danielle was our server. She may be the only server and was handling she entire restaurant and bar that day. Danielle was very friendly and attentive. To start, we ordered the fried pickles. They were plentiful and super hot and crunchy. Just what you want in a fried pickle appetizer. My husband wasn't very hungry so he ordered the salad. It was just a plain salad but it was fine. I ordered the rueben sandwich with fries. I thought it was very tasty. Bread was toasted just right, kraut crunchy, meat delicious. I'm all about a good Rueben sandwich. Fries were hot and crispy. We discovered Racks on a previous visit to Ely, and it's still our favorite place to go whenever we're in town. We love the vibe of the bar, and the menu is surprisingly robust for such a small, out-of-the-way pub. Despite its being a bar, it's perfectly appropriate for families looking for a casual place with lots of kid-friendly options. Prices are reasonable and the portions are plenty big. Don't let the exterior fool you. Racks Bar and Grill is like a good book with a bad cover. There is nothing necessarily wrong with the exterior of this place, only that the entrance is ordinary and looks like a door into a regular bar, and a regular bar this place is not.. I am a frequent visitor to Ely and on this trip I decided to check out this place. My meal was delicious and very satisfying that I slept like a baby after dining. It was Happy Hour when I arrived so I got a little discount on my beers. Service was great too as well as the music! Looking forward toy return to Ely. read more

Came on a Sunday night for dinner and there was good crowd watching football inside. We elected to sit outside on the back patio since it was such a nice evening - the patio is spacious and very nice. No craft beers and the only IPA was Lagunita's. My bride ordered the pull pork sandwich ($14) and it was tasty, but there was some not so great pieces of pork in the sandwich. I went with the Blackened Chicken Breast entree ($22) and it was solid. I heard about this place through the Basque Adventure Challenge with Travel Nevada and am glad we visited. This is a bustling cozy place with energetic loyal, local customers, and vibrant staff. The food is delicious. Sports and news on the tvs, drinks flowing in the afternoon. It's a fun spot! If you're not familiar with rural decor, don't be alarmed there's taxidermy on the walls. We found this little gem by the reviews online and it was close to our hotel! We were greeted right when we walked in super friendly and the service was fantastic. We choose a table outside our drinks came fast and the waitress's were always checking on us i got the club and my friend got the garlic parm wings both were delicious. I would have gave 5 stars but the menu online is not the correct menu and they were out of banana pudding! When I'm back in Ely I'll definitely go again! read more

Food was average, but I couldn't finish my salad as it was drowned in dressing which I had asked for on the side (one of the mess ups). Best place in town if you are travelling with your 4 legged family members. They have a welcoming patio on the backside. Service is excellent, the staff was warm and friendly. My challenge is the food. The tavern battered cod appears to simply be frozen heat and serve fish. The chicken fried chicken also appears to be frozen heat and serve. While the servers say the potato salad is home made it tastes like the Resser variety you get at your super market deli. The gyro meat was decent however I have never had a gyro with dill pickles. The one thing I would suggest is the Flatbread pizza both the chicken pesto and pulled pork pizzas were good. I would return for the pizza and friendly servers. read more

My wife were looking for someplace to go as we were only in the area for the night. Looking on yelp, we chose this spot! We walked in and noticed the seating was kind of tight, but they did have a large patio as well. We found a spot on the inside and started cruising the menu. We noticed that they had TouchTunes jukebox as well. We started playing the jukebox and there was a commotion about who is playing the jukebox and why it was so loud. Kind of interesting. Waters were brought to us and we waited for the waitress. She took our drink orders and took off. And we waited. She finally returned for our order which we gave her. I ordered the Nevada cheesesteak with a side salad and my wife, the blue moon burger with, french fries. Our drinks finally came out and we waited. Our meals arrived, but there was french fries in place of my side salad. We waited until the waitress asked us how everything was and I mentioned to her I ordered a salad instead of french fries. A salad was brought out to us relatively quickly, it was extremely pedestrian. My wife's cheeseburger had a huge amount of blue cheese on it. So much I added it to my salad. I must say the Nevada cheesesteak was delicious! It would be my recommendation. That said, with all the waiting and the incorrect order, three stars at best. read more

Decent spot on the Main Street in Ely...food was okay and prices were somewhat reasonable...the pulled pork nachos were large enough to share but the pork wasn't hot, or even warm...the macaroni and cheese balls were decent as well...the beers were cold but were overpriced imho, 13 each for lagunitas, even though they were the larger size...the service was good enough and the ambience leans to a hunting atmosphere as this is that part of the state, hunting channel was on 3 of the 4 tv sets as well....nice outdoor patio, fairly large but it was a bit windy so we sat inside... really not too much in Ely so this appears to be a go to spot for locals...RECOMMEND based on lack of other legitimate options...more of a 3.5 * than a 3 or 4.....like I said, very limited options in this town.... read more

If you're in Ely, this is a great place. They have a great menu with a wide selection of pub food. We ate there three times and had wings, flat bread, gyro, and a Ruben sandwich. All were very good. Rack's is sort of more of a bar than a restaurant, but they do have some very good food. We just needed dinner during an overnight as part of an extended road trip, and the reviews here looked good so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! The service was prompt and friendly, they have both indoor and outdoor seating, and there's a pretty good amount of variety on the menu. I had the Rack's Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich, which was very good. The meat was tender and smokey, the sauce was a little sweet and tasty (they use Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce), and the pretzel bun was a nice twist. The fries were basic but good. My wife had the Chef Salad, which was a little on the small side so I would say it is more of an appetizer than a main dish. Still, the ingredients were fresh and good. We arrived pretty early for dinner because we were tired from the road, so the place was pretty quiet. But I am sure it gets busy and perhaps a little rowdy during prime time. Definitely a great option in town for good food and good service. And they have some great beers on tap too! read more

Some might disagree but there are only really a couple of good places to eat in Ely that aren't chains, ethnic or in casinos. This is one. Right on Main Street downtown you've got to look for it but it's right there between two taverns with plenty of signage. The room is nicely appointed with the bar/kitchen along the wall and several high and low top tables. They call it a sports bar, and it has several TV's around, but when we visited this time they were all showing hunting shows. If you're not a hunter and object to trophy heads of the various wildlife animals hanging everywhere (Racks - get it?) it probably isn't the place for you. They're also not shy about sharing their political views on various signs and stickers behind the bar, but that's pretty standard in this part of the world. In the summer the patio is open, which is really the place to sit on a nice day. Every time we've been there it's been packed. Mostly with locals which is a good sign. They have just about every kind of bar food here including huge sandwiches, some entrees, and pizza. They also have some specials but it doesn't appear they change too often. Food is what you come here for and everything we've tried is good and plentiful. Service was about what you'd expect here; kind of harried, but it's always pretty busy so expected. Prices were standard these days; about $50-$60 for two including a cocktail. If you're new to Ely or just passing through and want a casual lunch or dinner this is the place to go. read more

My second time here in a time span of about six years. Wanted to come back here, so walked the mile or so from the Bristlecone motel right down Campton street. The owner was cooking up a BBQ special which was a chicken and rib combo, but opted not to eat that much food. Several people around me were raving about it. I ordered the Stinging Honey Garlic Chicken sandwich with a side salad. An excellent choice for sure. The sauce on the sandwich was amazing. Just be sure to ask for some moist towelettes as it is a tasty sticky meal. Perfect sized portion, and the side salad was a great compliment. This is a full bar, so plenty of adult and non alcohol choices. If it's nice, they do have a back patio for outside seating, which is pet friendly as long as the pet is well behaved. read more

This is a local bar and grill found on the main street through Ely, NV. It had decent reviews and was recommended by the hotel staff as a good place within close walking distance. Their menu had a nice variety of dishes to choose from. We started with a basket of onion rings. Crunchy and yummy! When I expressed doubt about them being served with tartar sauce, our server included some ranch and fries sauce as well. I ordered the pastrami on sourdough instead of their bun. They were happy to oblige and it was delicious. Lots of meat and cheese, with the bread crusted nicely with butter. My husband got the Reuben and it was loaded with meat and sauerkraut. We both opted for the side salad for an upcharge. That was fresh, but nothing special, with a tomato wedge, a cucumber slice, and a slice of buttered bread. We stopped on our 9-hour drive from Bryce Canyon to Sparks, NV. Wanted to support local rather than Mickey D's or others. We were so happy with the friendly service. Our server was spot on. Loved the food. My hubby had the pulled pork (per server it's made in house and takes 24 hours to make-but be sure to ask cuz they do more than just cook it.) Hubby loved it. I had the BLT. TONS of really good bacon (hate when places scrimp on the bacon) and my bread looked like it was toasted on a griddle with butter. Too yummy. And the fries were fabulous. I like fries that aren't too thick, but crisp and perfectly cooked. These hit the mark. This is a sports bar I would say. Four TVs with football on when we were there. Local dudes enjoying themselves. The place isn't too big. Noticed they had four tables outside for good weather days. Had lots (maybe 6 or 7) stuffed Mule Deer on the walls with impressive 'racks' (antlers), thus the name. Also, two antelope on the wall above us.
