Something to note is that there is only one park, so big dogs are combined with small ones. Theres a small obstacle course for dogs to jump and run through. And for the humans, there's also a few benches on the side to sit at.

There are four big pine trees with separate retaining walls around three of them for owners to sit down. With it being so close to the bay, there's often a nice breeze that goes through the park. There's no divide between small dogs and big dogs, so it's best to just keep an eye on your dog, and many owners around here are usually respectful. The street parking immediately adjacent to the park is free, however, it has a limit of 30 minutes, and the parking meter workers are strict on it if they're around. I bring my dog here around lunch time because those who live/ work in the area tend to bring their dogs during their break time and my dog gets his socialization time. They close 8am-11am MWF for maintenance/ cleaning. Currently, both gates are broken so it's not as secure as it should be, and who knows when the city will actually fix it. There're a few agility structures and a water dispenser. The children's park itself looks pretty cool for kids with a lot of structures with slides and swings. There's also another separate area with fixed exercise equipment that looks well- maintained. The water feature in the park is a water feature, not a pool.

When looking for an instructor, there are a number of things to consider. Ideally, they should be technically proficient in what they are teaching AND able to convey it in a way that people can understand. Clark Gracie excels in both these areas. Not only is he a world-class competitor (taking 3rd in the 2011 World Championships as a black belt) but he is a detailed orientated instructor who seems to genuinely care if the students are understanding what is being taught. It is often said that "there are black belts....and then there are black belts", well Clark Gracie is the latter, a world-class black belt that if you ever have the chance to train with, do it. read more

I've had a great experience training at Clark Gracie La Jolla. Not only are the students and teachers dedicated and skilled, but the school has a friendly vibe that is welcoming for beginners as well as experienced fighters. Rafael, Eduardo, Allen and Bill are experienced and knowledgeable professors, but what I really like about them is how they genuinely care about seeing their students grow and improve in Jiu-jitsu. first of all, clark is just such a nice guy! i met him else where and he invited me to take a free class at his studio. most the students are white/blue. he charges (at least when i was there) very reasonable prices. it's also in a nice facility. everyone's cool, it's a friendly environment. read more

I'm pretty sure every kid had the same huge smile plastered on their faces and it was so cool to watch. I saw my kiddo having so much fun I thought, "I can't tear him away from this" and I sat down and joined a few other parents who were also sitting down (no doubt having come early like myself thinking this would be a mellow come-and-go gig). What followed for almost an hour after that was watching the kids play games, move around and stay active and lots of cheering and smiling. Heck, I even wanted to join in on the fun at one point! I was truly blown away with the level to which Shigong and his team planned and executed a fully -themed event that was fun, educational, and active. Never in my parenting history have I seen that event done so well.
