Got some rocket engines. They are fun people and very knowledgeable. And, as of now it's the only hobby place that's open in Salem.

I want to give a big shout to this shop before it decamps for Beaverton…read more Rune & Board came into Hillsboro at a time when Hillsboro retail didn't cater to anyone under the age of, oh, 55 and certainly didn't address the interests of broad swaths of the city's population. R&B made it clear that not only were there a ton of gamers in the area whose needs weren't being addressed whatsoever, but that a knowledgeable staff and a stable space were all that was needed to give that community a home. Also, to be so inclusive of women that my longtime gamer buddy's wife was stunned when she walked in and was not only one of several women in the building, but the only one not actively buying or playing... that's how you start to need double the space. I'll admit, I don't like seeing this place go and I'm not a fan of the trend I'm seeing. We lost the town's only bookstore to Beaverton. Retro Game Store's gaming club and Gongali also moved from west of 185th to Beaverton. If Hillsboro and Forest Grove can't find the space for businesses like these--the ones that actually build communities, create third spaces, and encourage people here to join in and become part of something--they're going to keep losing both business and interest to Beaverton, Portland, and other places that are generally more encouraging. Thank you for my cherished copy of King of Tokyo, more Warhammer gifts than I likely should've purchased my friend, and all of the hours you set up shop for your regulars and newcomers. You're some of the good guys in Downtown Hillsboro, and the place will be less welcoming in your absence.

I feel welcome and comfortable here. They have a bunch of board games, of course plenty of dice, a whole section for minis, and most importantly very friendly and helpful staff. It can get a bit loud when there are multiple events at the same time but that's the only down-side I can think of. Also worth noting, they are still requiring masks for customers, which makes the in-person gaming easier to attend (especially for those with immuno-compromised loved ones). Much appreciated!

They have a very up to date and comprehensive collection of modern board games in their library to play (think Catan, Azul, and Ticket to Ride). The beer, cider, and wine options are good, but only in cans (Block 15, Two Towns, etc). The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. And the snacks are reasonable and practical as well. They have full bags of popcorn, pretzels, etc (like grocery store sized) so you can buy one and share. It's also open late enough to have time to get a game or two in. The daily fee is just $5 / person to play and gain use of the massive library. If you are new to town or just on your own, they have movies playing and a large selection of graphic novels to check out. They also host "Learn to Play" nights where you can learn a new game at meet other people. The owners are super nice and are always willing to help with rules for games and picking out games to play. Note: There is a membership fee that is waived if you are a student or if you are sponsored by a member. My advice is definitely go with a member and get sponsored to get that membership fee waived. Lastly, the games for purchase are more reasonable than most Local Friendly Game Stores and they have a surprisingly good selection given their small space. Overall, Gamagora is a great option for some evening entertainment and doing something different on a date night. I have had nothing but great experiences there and will definitely be going back regularly!

An absolute must-visit if you like board games, card games, or tabletop gaming in any form…read more My friend and I have a tradition that anytime we travel, we hit up a good board game store and grab a small portable game for road trips. The selection here is massive and incredibly well organized, with something for everyone from casual players to serious hobbyists. There's also a big game room and playroom in the back that seemed to have some games and tournaments going on I loved the demo tables -- such a smart way to actually try games before buying -- and the staff were genuinely friendly and knowledgeable without being pushy. It's the kind of store you plan to pop into briefly and end up staying for an hour (almost).

Wandered into the store because I needed to kill some time before my lunch reservation at Paper Bridge. The store is so big, so spacious, and so well organized! There are so many different types of games, puzzles, cards, die, mini figures, etc. I loved wandering around and would get excited when I finally recognized a game I knew. There's a gaming section in the back which seems like such a nice option for people to try games they don't own. Staff were friendly, bathrooms were clean, and prices are absolutely reasonable (so I left with a couple party games).

A fun decor feature is their display of completed Playmobil sets on shelves around the perimeter of the north side of the store -- some of the sets our own grown offspring had as children. We found a few treasures to purchase, including a fun looking 1000 piece puzzle. The store staff were cordial and helpful, even if they were not going out of their way to greet everyone who came through the doors. One big plus for us, after walking around downtown Corvallis for a few hours, is they have public restrooms available! You have to ask for a key at the checkout counter, but the restrooms are very clean and well maintained; and for those with very small children, there are full-sized changing tables. We often find ourselves being sort of "restroom snobs" when it comes to shops and restaurants; but we find the condition of the bathroom is often an accurate indicator of the rest of the facility. Anyway, The Toy Factory is a wonderful little shop, and I highly recommend it.
