I worked with Christian, Michael, and Bob from the Bob Melone Team for my mortgage. It was my first home purchase, so I of course had all sorts of questions. Everyone was incredibly helpful in walking me through the process, answering all my questions, etc. I also appreciated the fun video updates throughout the process (they made everything seem a little less stressful), especially the episode of "Mortgage Survivor." Had a buyer trying to go through Radius Financial and they kept just delaying everything- starting at 6pm the night before closing- even with a mortgage commitment- they kept saying they needed one more thing until finally asking for something that couldn't be done by a person who's job title wouldn't allow them to do it. Everything they asked for was provided and if it was a test for something like water- that passed. VERY unprofessional I would tell everyone to never use them. read more

I had the worst experience with this company, they charged me a lot of money and said they would refinance the loan at no cost later and when they offered to refinance my house they tried to charge me a lot more money and offered me a higher interest rate than other banks. Radius had a malware attack and my social security number was compromised because of it, the worst part is, I wasn't notified for eight months, since then I've had several fraud inquiries on my credit report. My fico score dropped 25 points because of this. read more

I personally had a horrible experience with them- that's just me personally and may not apply to you. Relentless and borderline harassing with their quest to gain information- to that point that my accountant, office manager, anyone tasked with getting them this information they try to pry out of you- told me they were absolutely horrible, pushy, nasty, and unpleasant to work with. I feel like I got a bad rate, but you get stuck and locked in with them until it's too late. I genuinely wish I went with someone.. anyone else.. dealing with them was a nightmare. So unpleasant. The argument that "anyone will ask for the same information" I learned is NOT true! The way they push, insist, tell you to clarify things over and over and over again- is awful. I would just do anything to go back in time and use anyone else but them. I can say they were the one unpleasant thing, the one thing that made house buying awful, and the one thing that made me and anyone else who had to give them info- want to go back and just keep renting. Do yourself a favor- run away from them, go somewhere else, they will treat you disrespectfully, push you to your limit, make you miserable- and I had plenty of money, good credit, no issues. They just crush you into submission with nonstop pushy emails asking for the same things hundreds of times, arguing with you, making you miserable. Use anyone else. read more

Hi, my name is William A. Pearson, Jr. I am very disappointed in the experience I just went through with the Atlanta Metro Office (Cummings, GA). The lack of communication amongst individuals within the company and the lack of communication with the customer (myself) has left a very spoiled taste in my mouth. To have the amount of hands involved with my file has led to long times to get information, lack of information provided, and has shown poor management, disorganization, and poor time management, and poor leadership. The experience of emails from individuals I was not aware of popping up in my email was very aggravating due to no one informing me ahead of time, the individual would be contacting me. With so much going on in the world today with fraud, to have a person contacting you whom you have not worked with, never heard of, and being asked for information which has already been provided leads one to wonder if there is some type of scam going on. As a first responder, I deal with customer service on a daily basis. One thing with the customer service industry, a person providing their service need to understand they are the servant and they are there to serve the customer. Not asking individuals who were already working on the file if they had information you needed and one deciding amongst themselves to reach out to me placed me in a position of uncertainty. It also wasted valuable time. On top of that, the information requested I feel should have been asked for early in the process. Speaking of process, the ability to provide professional service was hindered by the inability to ask for essential information up front. I feel a company providing this type of service (mortgage loans) should provide a package to the customer which states and cover everything a customer may need to know and/or turn in. To come in towards the middle and/or end of the process asking for information makes the customer endure unnecessary stress. If you provide the customer with any and everything they need or information they may not need does a few things. 1- it makes the process go smoother; 2- the company at that time has assured themselves they have covered all the basis (crossing all "T's" & dotting all "I's). 3- It provides the customer with valuable information they might not have known before starting the process. Now, because of miscommunication, not going the extra mile or just refining ones position by being creative and not just settling for the norm, has caused me to loose my earnest money, the money spent on the appraisal, and the home inspection. I work to hard to go and throw $3500 away when certain things could have been done to prevent this in the beginning. I don't have $3500 to just throw away. All parties are not at fought, but then again this is poor representation as a whole. I don't know how are if this can be rectified. I worked with Samantha Steinhage team at radius. To be honest, I was hoping for a more personalized experience from radius. Especially as a first time home buyer, I wished my experience the Radius team was that. I felt that I was always being pushed on the the next person without proper introduction. I only ever talked to Samantha once, prior to her maternity leave. The team was not very reachable via telephone. Whenever I called the office to speak to a team member, the front desk would transfer me and often times it would go right to voicemail. Through discussion with my real estate agent, many of the other mortgage brokers they use, often give their person cell phone numbers, to be more reachable. This is clearly not the case at radius, I never got a personal number from anyone. There were also many times where I received an out of office auto-response from team members, which was not very comforting when it was an urgent issue. read more

horrendous communication. we found our less than 12 hours before our closing that they had made a mistake, and our closing was in jeopardy. they pushed it back a few hours, which is annoying, but such is life. 2 hours before the new closing time, they said that it's impossible and we have to put it off until next week. all of the utilities had been transferred into our name. we had contractors coming to quote and install a fence, our belongings were on the way to the new home. now we are in limbo with no where to stay tonight. I am providing two stars because the President of Radius in Norwell , I believe did try very hard to resolve the multiple errors made by the mortgage broker out of the West Springfield office. Tom Higgins was also extremely helpful, courteous, professional and polite. From poor communication (claiming documents were missing and repeatedly not following up with my accountant as my accountant asked but contacting her once and claiming she spoke to her several times, when she did not.) Telling me repeatedly pages were missing from tax returns but yet not identifying what pages were missing when two entire forms were sent by the accountant to the mortgage broker. Telling me repeatedly "after these 4 pieces or 5 pieces are submitted, we are all set". Then calling me up two days later and asking for new pieces of information that had not been mentioned. Claiming that there were no extra points for the loan , when there were, after I specficially asked if there were points. "We don't charge points". Having a closing date delayed 5 days as a result. The delay in the closing date resulted in the moving company , the gas company, the electric company, the cable company all having to be contacted and new dates given. Hanging the phone up on myself and my parttner. I believe that midway through the loan process, the mortgage broker, became overwhelmed working with myself and my partner and exhibited significant changes in her presentation, affect and personality. I did initially tell the mortgage broker, my partner was in the process of selling his condo. I was helping my father sell his house where I have lived for 11 years and that the house was in a trust that needed to be dissolved and that we were purchasing a new property. From the getgo I was as clear. If the broker felt that she was unable to work with us , she should have had better insight into her own limitations given the fact that I outlined what we were dealing with. In addition I told her I was dealing with a parent who was experiencing significant cognitive deterioration. It was incumbent upon the broker to refer to us to someone who was a better match if she had too much on her plate. Her conduct was unacceptable, disrespectful and unethical. I conveyed and shared my concerns about her hanging up on the phone with the President of Radius and the situation improved once I identified these concerns. However, given what an unpleasant overall experience this has been and mind you , my credit is stellar and one of my scores is 806, I cannot even begin to fathom what a travesty and potential nightmare Radius would be for somebody who has less than stellar credit. At various points I felt and still feel that the experience with Radius would proably be comparable to or fall somewhere between having a triple root canal and absess addressed without pain killers, waterboarding or possibly a difficult pregnancy. The answer to terrorism from a policy perspective is not drones...it is subjecting enemy combatants to a loan through Radius Financial.....So I strongly encourage anyone who is significantly masochistic or just traumatized....if you really have low self esteem and need to feel less than worthless by all means initiate this process. I don't have enough positive things to say about Radius Financial Group. They are truly top notch. If you value customer service, efficiency and competence, then this is your mortgage company. Bob Melone (loan officer) and his team (Lucy, Chris, Aubrey and Michael) are phenomenal. Not only are they friendly, easy to talk to, and patient --- they are knowledgeable and always there to give great advice. They will take the time to coach/walk you through EVERY step of the process. For one of the most stressful processes in life (buying a home), they make it seamless. We always felt like we were their only client! I will describe their approach in three words: partnership, personalized, and thoughtful. I was referred to radius by my realtor. I am so sorry I listened to her. I had been working with Quicken Loans and she said they were much better to work with. At first they were wonderful and based on my information I got a great prequalification. I was very upfront with them regarding my financial situation from the very beginning. Things seemed to be progressing nicely. Then one day I get an email from the assistant loan officer stating they were sending my loan directly to underwriting. It has been a one thing after the other. They are asking for unrelated information to the situation now. I wish they had been very upfront with me from the beginning instead of stringing me along and wasting my time!!! read more

I can honestly say that I don't know if I would have been able to get a mortgage with such a great rate anywhere else. Michael Johnson and the team working on our mortgage were always very pleasant to work with, and always kept us well-informed on the process. I had always been wary of the mortgage industry, but working with Radius truly laid all those concerns to rest. They made me feel comfortable and as the process went on, I became more and more confident that they had everything under control. This is a direct result of the grace and aplomb with which Michael and his team always showed us, even when there were complications in the home-buying process. We had delays in our mortgage process due to a septic needing to be replaced before we closed. We had originally locked in our rate at 3.25%, but had been told by many others that because of the delays the rate could be in jeopardy (at our closing rates were at about 4.5%). Michael was able to assure me in short order that the rate would remain intact, even though we were closing over TWO MONTHS after the original closing date. I can't even express how grateful we were for that. Radius saved us a lot of money and headaches in this process, and to me that was invaluable! Buying my first home through this company was a nightmare. My loan officer was fabulous and very helpful but the ones in control of the "yes" and "no" parts were horrible. They did everything they could to drag the process out till the last second. We had moved from another state and thought we would be homeless before begrudgingly getting approval. I would never recommend this company to anyone, even if you had perfect credit simply because of what they put us through. Even when I called corporate for help, it turned out the guy I was seeking help from was the one manipulating my whole case and making it harder. Never again. read more

In my opinion, they are definitely motivated by commission and have little regard for home buyers with significant money tied up in escrow. They are very disorganized and have front line employees pretty green in home lending. We just can't figure out how our loan became so complicated that requests for new information came within an hour of us missing P&S deadlines. Fantastic credit, 35% down and a 30 year uninterrupted work history were not enough to close on a simple loan without major problems. We own 2 homes we bought with mortgages and paid off but just never knew lending through brokers such as Radius would throw such a wrench in the home buying process. They missed just about every deadline we had on our new home purchase although we had given them everything they asked for within hours of the request. Any push back and pressure we put on them for putting our escrow at risk was met with a pretty care free attitude when they were communicating with us at all. To spite us for questioning their sloppy and incompetent work they let us sweat if out the night before the closing without a HUD statement or even a revised closing time as they clearly were not to able to meet the early closing we had agreed upon weeks earlier. Thankfully, we had great attorneys to keep them honest and to head off problems with the seller's attorneys as they arose. After this stressful and horrible experience with Radius I think using a local savings bank for mortgages is the best way to get better mortgage rates and truly professional service. read more

We came very close to missing a closing - and losing a large deposit - because of radius, even though we have real estate investments and have been through plenty of mortgages and re-financings etc. And we have "Excellent" credit. I was referred to Bob Melone at Radius Financial. He left me a message to talk to his assistant if he wasn't avaliable. I ended up talking to his assistant Aubrey who took all my information for a VA loan. She said she would call me back and I never heard back from her. I called her a few times and left several voicemails checking up on things and my calls were never returned. Every time I called they said she was unavailable. Being "unavailable" seems to be the norm there. I finally gave up and went with a different mortgage company and I couldn't be happier with the mortgage I received. I wouldn't recommend Radius Financial to anyone. I don't know how they stay in business. read more

It was our second mortgage loan through this company in three years. First house: bigger house, bigger loan and smaller down payment. The second loan was not another charm. Second house: slightly smaller, slightly smaller loan and bigger down payment. The second loan process was one of the most UNPLEASANT and STRESSFUL experiences of our personal financial lives. We knew this was a large company. There were some good people but the few people that were calling the shots, were so unprofessional and unresponsive. The closing date was postponed and we loss our locked in rate. The pre-qualify process was a breeze. It was done over the phone and email and completed over-night. Our first and last mistake. The loan process was a nightmare but we had committed our loan request through Radius so we were at their mercy and we were in for a bad roller coaster ride. We gave them all the documentations they asked for within two weeks of the P&S signing and the loan officer told us everything looked good. We waited and waited without a word from them for about two weeks so we called them to find out the delays. They never told us of any issues but asked for more documentations; some that didn't exist, redundant documentation, or documentations that were completely outside the scope of any loan application. The underwriter wouldn't approve the loan until he was convinced the sun would rise the next morning. This wasn't our first mortgage loan process. We've gone through several and nothing so negative and frustrating can be compared. We, both, have above average paying and stable professions, long work histories, good credit histories, more than comfortable savings, collateral assets plus a confirmed 20% down payment. We never thought this loan would be so difficult to secure but this deal appeared to be in jeopardy and the seller's new house was contingent upon the completion of our closing. The seller and we had a lot to lose. The loan commitment was delayed without any explanations. After another two weeks of unreasonable demands, Radius did provide a limited commitment to a loan, but it was contingent upon more documentation. If we could walk away from this, we would have. We got approved the afternoon before the day we closed. The seller's deal was on the verge of falling through if it went pass another day. The seller incurred storage penalties, we ended up with a higher interest rate costing us more tabled money, our move into the new house started in December, which caused more difficulties because of the harsher weather and it felt like we were bent over and dry probed with a full size mag light. Needless to say, we are in the process of refinancing for a lower rate through another finance company. So the repercussions of the Radius nightmare continues to ripple through our bowels, costing us more thousands of dollars. We have locked-in for the same rate we should've gotten from the Radius loan. Radius is hit or miss. We experienced both ends and that left a bitter taste. It's a gamble dealing with Radius. We will never use Radius again and wanted others to know this company was a complete and utter disappointment this final time. read more

Not once did the paperwork match what was spoken and agreed upon. Watch out for customer service being used as bait. When competitor offered rates 1/4 - 1/2 of a point better, they tried to dissuade us from going elsewhere with scare tactics about what "word on the street" was about their competition. Not a single hard fact or evidence of hard fact to validate the claims; irresponsible lies also, as if people will not verify their claims. The guy tried to tell me that Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae (who ultimately buy all the loans - according to this guy) were nowhere near what the competitor offered us, and thus the offer was smoke and mirrors. The FM's Rates at the time were 1/4 point lower than that. "In reality, if that is their (competitor's) rate then that's my rate," he then said. So I sent him what his competitors had committed to on email. Radius never put in writing anything that was sold over a conversation. Went with a lender that all they did was put in writing the best offer and confirmed it with the rate lock and every document we signed posthumously. In my book these guys are predators, whose prey are those who fall for what they believe is someone who really cares about their precious investment. With customer service as the bait, watch out and stay away. read more

Do NOT get a mortgage with Radius Financial. Once you read the fine print, you will find ridiculous things in the mortgage agreement. For example, if you sign for a closed fixed 5 year mortgage and want out before those 5 years are up, guess what? You are screwed and they absolutely will NOT let anyone out of their mortgage for any reason at all. If I wanted to pay off my mortgage BEFORE the 5 year term is up that is not allowed. THEY WILL NOT LET YOU PAY OFF YOUR MORTGAGE BEFORE THE 5 YEAR TERM IS UP. That's right! If you won the lottery and wanted to hand them cash for the balance on your mortgage they will NOT accept it, whether you are willing to pay a penalty or not. The statements they send you that include a list about paying off or getting out of your mortgage are FALSE. They have zero interest in doing what is best for the customer, even if they get all of their money PLUS interest or penalties. Signing up for a mortgage with this company is the equivalent of becoming a hostage to them for 5 years. If mortgage rates drop during your 5 year term and you are able to get a better rate and better mortgage elsewhere...TOO BAD. What is worse is that there are NO EXCEPTIONS. If something horrible happens to you or your spouse such as serious illness or disability and you need to re-finance they WILL NOT HELP YOU AT ALL. They have NO COMPASSION and do not care about their clients at all. If Radius Financial is your only option for getting a mortgage, walk away and wait until you are in a better financial position to get a mortgage from a REAL BANK or CREDIT UNION who will treat you with respect. Life is unpredictable, things happen and we can have the best intentions and plans but sometimes horrible things happen to people. Radius Financial does not care about any of that. The ONLY WAY OUT OF YOUR MORTGAGE BEFORE 5 YEARS IS UP IS TO SELL YOUR HOME. EVEN IF YOU SELL YOUR HOME YOU WILL THEN HAVE TO PAY THEM A SEVERE INTEREST PENALTY FOR DOING SO. Signing a mortgage with this company was one of the biggest mistakes of our lives. When our mortgage is up, there is no way in hell I would renew with them even if they offered me 1% interest rate. This company should be ashamed of themselves for how they treat their clients. Horrible, terrible, awful experience that we regret every single day of our lives. read more

I was referred to Radius. We had called other lenders and were told we had some work to do first before qualifying. Which I completely understood- we had a lot of credit issues. The broker we were referred to was "on vacation" and we dealt with an assistant. They ran our credit and surprisingly gave us a qualifying letter. We had to put 10% down though. Which we ended up coming up with by selling some sentimental things and a gift. We fell in love with a house- and put in an offer. The process was horrific. Every day over 2 months was some kind of problem. Missing documents that were already sent, coming across something"not seen before" on our credit report now a problem. The assistant and the broker took an admonishing tone with every issue. It was torture. Finally, after paying $500 for an inspection, jumping through a million hoops, our loan was denied. After 2 months of being led down a path that we never should have gone down. This loan process really changed me. I actually have hate for these people. I'm not usually like that. But, working with these people was the worst experience I have ever had working with a business. After a month of bitterness, we did meet with another lender and have a plan and will qualify soon. But, I will never ever ever ever even think about using this company. They are downright mean - I was treated so poorly. I will continue and do tell people about my experience with Radius. Don't do it to yourself when there are plenty of other good lenders out there. I'm sure that Radius won't take responsibility for their side of the street. I'm sure it's all my fault, right? read more
