The dad of a close family member passed away unexpectedly. We sent the "Beautiful in Blue" floral arrangement to the Duksa Family Funeral Home at 20 Bonair Ave, Newington, Connecticut. In this arrangement, the serenity of the colorblue and the purity of intention symbolized by white, let our family know that we were sending our calm strength to them during these difficult times. Beautiful blooms included blue hydrangea, crème roses, white lilies, and alstroemeria, along with yellow and white chrysanthemums, eucalyptus, limonium, and more, beautifully arranged in a dazzling cobalt blue vase. We read the reviews for the various local florists, and after reading the reviews, we selected "Dillon-Chapin Florist". I called the florist by phone, and I wanted to be sure that an arrangement could be sent on the same day for the wake service that would start that afternoon, followed by the funeral the next day. I was asked what I was looking for, and I went onto the web site and selected a tall elegant arrangement, so I could share specific flowers and colors that I was considering, along with our sympathy card, because there did not appear to be enough room on the card section on the web site. The florist created a beautiful, thoughtful arrangement that accurately reflected the occasion's solemnity. Dillon-Chapin Florist gets top praise for attentive customer service, timely delivery, and understanding my personal preferences during a difficult time. The florist was willing to incorporate meaningful flowers and colors to personalize the arrangement, making it a fitting tribute to the deceased. I very much appreciated the florist's empathy and care in creating an arrangement that was at the wake, the church service, reception after the burial, and the family's home after the services. The florist created the floral arrangement with attention to detail, beautiful colors, and fresh flowers in February 2025. The sympathy arrangement was stunning and arrived on time at the funeral home. It was exactly what we needed to express our condolences during a difficult time. My family stated, "Your floral arrangement is magnificent, and the funeral home staff even commented on how beautiful it is. Thank you so much for your efforts in creating a floral arrangement in an array of colors that represented the impact that the deceased had on so many family and friends with his work over the years! While the flowers were lovely and I feel the price, including free delivery, in-line with what I've experienced in other cities, I was dumbfounded when I received a pic from my gf of the flowers in her her office a day before her milestone birthday -- a day before the delivery date I indicated. I would not think this a detail a florist should overlook, which was disappointing. On the positive side, when I contacted them about the error, they sent her another arrangement -- unfortunately that arrived at her work after she'd left for the weekend. I ordered a funeral arrangement online and the arrangement they did/delivered was no where the design they had published on their website. Additionally, the arrangement listed as Heavenly Angel was supposed to cone with a small cherub/angel nestled in the arrangement and it was missing from the arrangement. Last but not least, the arrangement itself can be deemed as mediocre. Will not recommend this florist to family and friends. read more

I recently sent flowers from Rae's to one of my dearest friends in Newington who lost her brother. Here's the thing I live in CA. I called explained the situation, that I couldn't attend and I wanted to convey my love and condolences through the arrangement. The person who attended to me over the phone said "don't worry we will take care of it." Not only did I hear from my friend who lost her brother, but many other mutual friends reached out, and they all said it was the MOST beautiful arrangement they'd ever seen! I placed an order to be delivered. Got an email that not only do they not have the same arrangement I already paid for, but cant deliver it on that Sat but can deliver on Friday. Bottom line, I got charged and they NEVER delivered the flowers. I called left three messages, emailed several times, but nobody every returned my email or call. I now have to dispute the charge with my credit card. Very frustrating - no matter what, even if there was an emergency, it's been a week since I placed the order, and no returned calls or emails. On 7/17/20- I Googled my local florist for their number, and an ad popped up with identical information as my florist, (family business for decades, free delivery, etc., in this huge bold ad, with a phone number not even belonging to my florist, but not knowing that- I called it. A woman by the name of Darcy answered the phone. I started to thank her for a recent arrangement that I had received a few days ago.(again thinking it was my local florist) I proceeded to tell Darcy that I was calling to order a " new baby arrangement." After a few minutes of complimenting their expertise, and telling Darcy how I wanted to "keep the business in town, meaning EH, NOT Newington." Not once did she tell me that I was not talking to my local florist. I was totally misled leading me to make make an expensive purchase for something I was promised but never received.( such as a stuffed animal promised to make it a "baby's arrangement") I had called back 1/2 hour later with a question about the message on the card. A gentleman told me "No, he couldn't check because it was on the truck." What arrived could have been for a birthday, house warming, or anniversary-nothing special. Haste makes waste. The arrangement was delivered- it was not free, and I was charged $10.00. Not to mention that New Britain, Simsbury, Windsor Locks, Berlin, Plainville are all FREE DELIVERY, but not Middletown. It arrived with a card from Raes? I thought my florist had FTD'd it-still not catching on. But whoever it was, it was a vase of flowers, not worth $100.00, and no baby stuffed animal, or anything indicating our special occasion. On Monday 7/20/20, I called my local florist to complain that the arrangement wasn't anything special, for a first time child/grandchild for a delivery fee, and no stuffed animal as promised. They knew nothing about it. The conversation was with Raes, and no body else. I was misled and never corrected. I had another adult hear this whole conversation at the initial call to place the order. What happened was each time you Googled my local florist- Rae's Dillon ad pops up with a phone number! No chance for the other florist at all. Then to obviously not be talking to who I think I'm talking to,! And to deliberately not correct me, making it a vague conversation or say the least. Apparently, as I was told Google can manipulate such things. News to me but not right. It has now been corrected. Your number should not be popping up under someone else's business. I also tried to stop payment on this horrendous purchase. My bank honored it until they called to tell me they couldn't do it because it was a debit card purchase. Even better news. Just a terrible experience on a happy occasion. read more

There are much better florists who will be professional and responsible if things go wrong. This is not one of them. If you call, they will not call back. If you ask why 2 days passed without a delivery or phone call to tell you there will be a delay, they will be rude. The owner actually yelled at me. I recently ordered sympathy flowers online to be delivered to a friend who had lost a loved one. Their website boasted same day delivery, so I ordered on a Friday night, expecting that the flowers would be delivered on Saturday. I had no reason to believe otherwise. After not hearing from my friend on Saturday, which would have been unlike her to not thank me for the flowers, I had to actually ask her if she received them - she did not. On Sunday, I called the florist, someone picked up and stated she was the answering service (I now believe she was full of crap), I gave her my info and asked if the flowers were delivered. She said she would get back to me - she did not. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I called and left messages. Each time I called, a different voicemail message came on. Finally, after my final message on Wednesday, I received a call back. The owner came on the phone and said that he had been on vacation and just got back to work. That's great and all but here is my question: You have a business where people can order things online, where it is PROMISED that something will be delivered the same day. How can you just go on vacation and not think to take down the site, or put a message on there that says you are closed? What if I needed these flowers for a funeral? No message popped up when I placed my order saying that they were on vacation. The owner offered to send the flowers out that day (4 days later than they were supposed to be delivered) but I refused and asked for a refund. He also offered me a $50 arrangement in the future but I will not be coming back for more. If you are looking for a reliable florist, then this probably isn't it. read more

What I love about this florist is that they do not gouge you for delivery charge, which is usually a ridiculous fee. They are also very kind over the phone and for that reason I have used their services a few times. I had roses delivered to my family from a friend of mine, and they were BEAUTIFUL. What a stunning display that was obviously made by someone with expertise and not at the grocery store. The girl delivering them was very friendly as well! I looked on their website out of curiosity, and I was surprised by the great prices for the high quality of roses that I got. I was also happy to see that it is a locally owned shop. I will order flowers from there myself. read more

I was extremely pleased with the beautiful flowers I ordered for my aunt's funeral. The price was very reasonable and the flowers/colors were what I had asked for. Few months later we were in need of additional flowers for my mother in law's funeral. I felt confident that they would do a beautiful job. It was so nice that they remembered me and worked very closely with me to give us exactly what we were looking for. The flowers on the casket were beautifully arranged as were all the accompanying flowers - they were so well coordinated with each other (exactly as we requested). We received many compliments from family of how beautifully coordinated they were. I think the price was very reasonable compared to what you get at other florists. Also, you get to speak to the designers themselves so you can get exactly what you want. It is always good to keep in mind that you need to give the professionals some leeway also, because sometimes they know what will work best given different situations.
