We were with a group of six adults, each of whom wanted a different pizza topping. One great reason for ordering at Rafferty's is that they have several small size options. I wish I took pictures of the food we ordered! I was so impressed with the flavor and selection of the pizzas!! What a great place to take a family out to. We tried the Rueben and BBQ pizzas as well as the wings and all were a hit. Can't wait to try more sometime. Seemed to be one worker greeting/ taking orders and another cooking in the back. Today was the first time we've been disappointed at Rafferty's. We have been coming here 8 years. Always the best pizza. The pizza today was loaded nicely with all our fav toppings but the flavor was so off. We presume it was the sauce. Just can't really pin point it so had to be the sauce. Great place! Great pizza, good service, and a nice little bar with a decent variety of beers. Pizza is a wood fired hand tossed crust that's crispy but also a little chewy. Toppings all have good flavor. The wife and I can Tak down a large and not feel like we need take a nap afterwards. It's not a heavy overloaded with cheese pizza like some places. Absolute hole-in-the-wall pizza place but the pizza is surprisingly quite good in a way that you would not expect from the look. They do a hand tossed thin crust pizza, very similar to a Neapolitan-style with having some chew in the middle and crisp outer crust. It's not quite like you'd get in Napoli as they don't get the same degree of char, but if you like that style I don't think you'd be disappointed with what they're making. We had a half-Margherita half-pepperoni (I wanted to try the two very different approaches) and I really liked both. The Margherita was amazingly well done for a place that's normally slinging pies in a very American "toppings, toppings, toppings" style. Minimalist sauce that tasted of fresh crushed tomatoes and basil, fresh mozzarella, and full basil leaves, exactly as it should be. On the flip side, the pepperoni had a different, more typical "pizza" sauce and the kind of mozzarella you'd expect on American pizza. The crust surprisingly worked very well for both styles. I know it'd be sacrilege but next time I'd probably like to get the Margherita with pepperoni and take the best of both worlds. Anyways, I don't think you can go wrong getting pizza from here. While I'm not a huge fan of pizza, Rafferty's proved to be a breath of fresh air. We were recommended by our local host family to try it out and among the other similar options of burger and sandwiches, pizza seemed to be the most appetizing genre of meal... This place did not disappoint, we were super grateful that it offered fresh options, such as the super tasty summer berry salad (man we were craving veggies) and the vegetable supreme pizza. One unique topping of the pizza was the fresh scallions which I've never seen on pizzas. We liked it so much we decided to come for a second meal in this short trip. read more

Please allow me to start this review by saying that the staff was great. Very friendly and service was fast. But, this pizza is simply not good. The crust is cracker thin, the sauce is bland, there is zero flavor to the cheese and it is cut into a million pieces. The 14in pie came with like 16 slices. I'm not from Minnesota, so I don't know the MN standards for pizza, but cannot imagine that this is up to par. read more

The salads are also huge and great for sharing. We got a custom calzone and it was very tasty, but does take longer to come out than pizza. If you're looking for tasty, well-priced pizza that will be served to you quickly in a casual setting, this is probably your best option in the area by far! Rainy day at the cabin called for some late night pizza to-go! Order was ready as scheduled when I arrived, and staff were very friendly and thanked me for the business. You know, I've been coming to northern MN for 43 years and this is my first time at Rafferty's, clearly a classic much beloved pizzeria, et al. nestled in between all the cutesy shops on the main drag in Nisswa. This is one of those places where you have to be observant and learn the local way to do it. Grab a menu off the wall and find a spot either inside or outside. Or go order at the counter window. But maybe grab a spot first, just saying. Our food took a normal amount of time for what we expected from a thin crust pizza. And we had taken a number, 27, and sat outside. Oh, we had self serve soft drinks. I don't normally drink soda anymore, but every now and then with pizza is nostalgic. Pepsi products. We had a coupon from our mini golf round down the street for free appetizer with a large pizza. And we took advantage. They had only carb heavy apps, which sounded good, but cheesy bread with pizza is too nostalgic for me. We opted for the boneless chicken bites with buffalo style sauce and ranch we got for a dollar upcharge. Not bad, I would like to try other sauces too. The buffalo sauce was good, tasted like Franks. The pizza crust was heavenly. I think everything else was great too, and the fresh mushrooms! Thank you! All the ingredients were fresh tasting and delicious. Sausage, black olive and mushroom. I voted for pepperoni too, but got vetoes from the kids tonight for some reason. But it looked great on all the other pizzas I saw. Plus the speacialty flavor all looked great seeing other people enjoying them. We go up toward Walker and makes it the reason we have never been down this way before for pizza, but now, the whole family will find out it is worth a day drive for shopping, mini golf, and the pizzaaaaa. read more

This is a popular spot for locals and vacationers alike. Located in Nisswa amongst old novelty shops and annual turtle races. Many of my friends and extended family stop here every cabin-trip up north. This place is always hopping! Order at the window with a menu, and seat yourself with a number. We split a 10 inch Jamaican Jerk pizza between two, although, this size will easily feed one as the crust is thin. It hit the spot after drinking all day over Memorial Weekend. Living near the city, this is not the most amazing pizza I've had, but for the area it is likely pretty good. With a name like Jamaican Jerk I was expecting something a bit spicier, however, the only spice I was able to discern was touch of cayenne or chili powder (I'm sure you could tell them to spice it up more for you). I will say, the ingredients were incredibly fresh! The tomatoes tasted as though they were straight from the vine, and I wouldn't doubt they receive some locally sourced ingredients from very nearby farms. read more

The place is about as fancy in the inside as it is in the outside. No frills and outdated. It feels about as small town as you can get with seating yourself and order your food at the bar. But, the prices reflect this which makes it fair and the food came out very quickly. Additionally, a very nice man brought out pizza and was so friendly. That really goes a long way! We ordered the Caesar salad and baked potato pizza. To be honest, I wasn't impressed with either. But again, I didn't pay that much for them so it wasn't a total loss. Next time I come to Nisswa I will give it another try. I think there is potential in the menu! read more

While we were in Nisswa we decided to stop here for lunch. I was really excited because it had such good reviews, and I am super picky about my pizza. It took a while for us to get our pizzas, which was a big deal because we were all super super hungry! So expect this when you come during prime eating times. We ordered a margarita pizza, pig in garden pizza, chicken alfredo pizza, and a large make your own. Overall, the pizza had good flavor and looked wonderful. What we didn't like was that is wasn't crispy enough on the bottom and the pizza wasn't hot hot like it just came out. Those were our only complaints, but the flavor was good. We also tried the cannolis because I had to. They were disappointing. I wouldn't get those again. They aren't homemade from scratch. Out of all the option for pizza up north, this is definitely my favorite though! I would come back again. I also want to mention that the workers here were all super friendly and had great attitudes! We ordered the chicken wings and the taco pizza. The chicken wings were pretty good. However, the taco pizza basically was just lettuce and tomatoes. There wasn't much meat on it. If I ever came back, I would definitely not get the taco pizza. If you're gonna come here, order a different pizza. read more
