I hesitated for a few days but pulled my receipt and decided to post. Busy night, but the "misses" were to many to ignore. Ordered Duck Wontons & a plain burger with a slice of raw onion. 20 minutes later server tells us they're out of wontons, need to select an alternative. Food comes out almost a hour after getting our table. Burger bun was ICE COLD, literally, top & bottom, that cooled the patty. Had others verify I wasn't being too picky. The raw onion on the burger cost $1.00, four rings of a purple onion. Fries, a $2.00 up-charge from chips were cold, soggy, limpy and clearly died waiting for the replacement meal (which lacked seasoning) for the out of stock Duck wontons. Tab came and included a charge for the out of stock Duck wontons. Had to track down our server, point out the error and wait for a corrected tab. Disappointing for a spot that we frequent. read more

We've visited twice and have enjoyed our experience overall! The kids absolutely love the yard games and the quarter machine--it makes for a fun family outing. Our only suggestions are with the food and service. We tried the Mango Habanero and Spicy Honey bone-in wings, and we were hoping for a lot more heat. My husband especially wished they were much spicier, as both flavors were pretty mild. We also had some issues with communication when ordering. It would help if the wait staff were a little more attentive to customer requests and modifications to orders to ensure everything comes out as expected. Overall, it's a fun place with a great atmosphere for families, and we'll definitely be back. We'd just love to see the spicy wings pack more heat and the service become a bit more attentive. read more

We were there on a busy Saturday night. I get it, there's lots of people. We sat down and it took 15 minutes for someone to even look at us. Then another 10 minutes to order drinks and food. We were 5 people that don't drink alcohol. It took some time to get the drinks. It took an hour and half to get our meals. Simple salad, wings and burgers. It should not have taken that long. The server did not even come around but once. People around us seemed to be getting served their alcohol and meals. While waiting the music was super loud, 80 dB! Came up north for the weekend and this was our dinner of choice. Mission has been around awhile and has good vibes, friendly staff and great dependable food. We started with their spicy cranberry margarita and it was perfectly balanced between sweet and spicy. I love when a marg comes in a pint glass so I don't have to worry about knocking over a marg glass! We had the buffalo cauliflower bites as a starter-so yummy and fresh. We asked for ranch and blue cheese and they were both a great addition. For dinner, we had a burger, tacos and the pizza fries. I had the street corn burger and it was loaded with chunky sauces and perfectly meaty crispy fresh fries. Really reasonable prices and a nice clean place. Def recommend! read more

Started off just fine. Did some pole tabs. Then I won $220 and as the lady was paying me out, she says in front of everybody you know it's common courtesy to tip at least 10%. And all my years of doing pulltabs I have never had anyone say something like that. I wasn't even done signing my ticket yet so I did not have a chance to even tip. How tacky and unprofessional is that to be begging for tips. I always tip. I went on to play more and won even more and I did not tip because of her unprofessional behavior. Then we find out after 45 minutes that our ticket never got entered so we waited over an hour for our food! We live locally we have frequented here many times. We're in the food industry as well and we own our own food business but this is probably the last and final time we ever come here. I believe the owner needs to be here every day, especially Monday through Friday. Just disappointed because this place is not up to what it used to be. I understand employees are hard to come. This place is a fun up north bar with bartenders that will make sure that you have a good time. The service is great and they have some interesting drinks that are generally good but a little expensive. The highlight of the food was the Chislic (tasty tender meat, nicely cooked with a zippy sauce). We had several burgers and they ranged from pretty good (Western) o Ok (the double meat, bacon and cheese one) to not very good (the Thai one). The fries were crispy, the salads large and fresh. We didn't have the pizza which I have usually like here. Nothing wrong with this place, but there are similar places with better burgers around. read more

Great bar to visit to start off your cabin trip. Brick oven pizza is what people talk about here! We decided on the chicken wild rice and the greek pizza pi. We had a group of 6 adults and ordered 14 inch pies. It was plenty for us and we took some leftovers back. I liked that they offered different flavors. Overall people were happy. We also had duck wontons - they do have a lot of cream cheese in them. So if you really like cream cheese, this would be a great appetizer! My favorite was the wings! We ordered the stinging honey garlic and Thai dry rub. For those who don't like a lot of spice, the stinging honey garlic is good. But I like a lot of spice so the Thai dry rub was great! Just a dive bar in the up north of Minnesota. Pretty typical for the area except maybe the food. This is a true gastro pub with a full menu of classic American Continental fare. All of it well made and generous portions. The draft beer selection is limited but still exceptional with no less than 3 IPA's and all the other usual suspects. But, if you really want to know why this is a cut above the other dive bars in MN, it's the pizza. The staff are the nicest, most attentive people anywhere but that's par for the course in Minnesota. Everybody's nice here. What's crazy exceptional is the pizza. We had a "Mission Tavern" and a "Lobster" pizza with Gluten Free crust and they were the best pizza ever. I mean they were exceptional by any standard. If Michelin gave stars for pizza, The Mission Tavern would have one. Ok, so, it's really not just a typical dive bar in Minnesota so do yourself a favor and make your way out here ASAP! read more

Came in on a rainy Friday night close to 5pm and it was great to see a full house. We grabbed a hi top table and watched the place fill to almost max capacity. The bar top was filled with regulars and the dining room tables were occupied by three large parties. The severs didn't seem rattled and all looked in complete control. Our service was friendly and prompt and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time considering the restaurant's volume. The inside is clean and updated with 5-6 TVs for everyone to view. The food is rather vanilla. It's a pedestrian menu which is appreciated for a lake country bar/restaurant, but all of our choices were uninspired. Based on other reviews we ordered the cheese bacon logs. It's a rolled up grilled cheese with maple syrup. Very reminiscent of something a drunk college student would assemble from a limited pantry on a minimal budget. We ordered a pizza based on the number of pizzas coming out of their pizza oven. They looked absolutely delicious but the appearance trumped the actual taste. It was very doughy and lacked sauce and flavor. The chicken wings were decent but fyi they charge $$ for an extra little ramekin of dressing. (Lame) All in all its a perfect location for many lake weekenders and I wish the new owners much success. I will come back next season and give the food another try. The service and staff were noticeably competent which is 1000 times improved from the last establishment. I came to the Brainerd Lakes area for a vacation. I was losing hope that I would find a decent restaurant. I drove past this place and saw that the parking lot was packed. I went in and had dinner and it was fantastic. The service reminded me of back home in Vegas. I realize this is a tourist area and that help is hard to come by but The community needs to set standards for what they will tolerate in a restaurant. Mission Tavern is a good one. read more
