We were vacationing in Nisswa and went to the Pickle to see what the Monday night meat raffle was all about. It was a fun, upbeat atmosphere with lots of locals. There are a ton of diveish bars in the area but the Pickle is special. It's got the dive feel but it's nicer. The staff is all super friendly. The drinks are cheap and strong. The food is exactly what you want here (Heggies and Giovanni's pizza that somehow taste best in a place like this). The fried apps are all good, try the crispy fried pickle chips and it feels like your at the State Fair. If your around stop in. Too loud for us. We didn't stay. No one came to serve us or ask what we wanted. Not our scene.

The service was atrocious. The bartenders kept telling everyone they didn't care about finding the Twins playoff game on TV even though asked by dozens of patrons who were there specifically for that purpose. They also avoided serving anyone other than their "townie" locals because they were going to be "off in 3 minutes. We sat at the bar for TWENTY minutes without being acknowledged or served. But anyone that came up to the serving station who was a local, he engaged in a conversation about the 4-wheeler scene of late. Do yourself a big favor and avoid this place. read more

Ya know, an awful lot of the people who come into the restaurant understand it's a tough labor market. We also understand things happen and an item or two may not be available. At the same time, regardless of the above issues, we expect some sort of pleasant greeting when we arrive. After all, we planned on spending money...in fact, all six of us were planning on having apps, entrees, and a few beers. We were there to support the business. But we walked out when some sourpuss server unloaded on us, in a miserable way, about not having more servers and not having a good number of menu items available. Talk about a buzzkill...she's an obvious pro at chasing (non-local) customers away. I'm not sure if I have ever met a more negative server. She appeared to be happy serving beer to a group of locals but beyond that, her attitude and interest in other guests was absolutely zero. Last year the food was just O.K. at best. This year, the attitude of the server made us all head for another restaurant. They'll be no 3rd try for the Pickle Factory when we return to Nisswa later this year or in 2022. There are plenty of other choices. Stay clear of this miserable joint. read more

My friend went in with a mask on. While in line, another customer (70 year old man) shoved her so hard that she fell over and called her "f*cking mask wearer" as she was the only customer wearing a mask. The manager then came out and asked what happened. When both my friend and the man told him, he said "well I'm getting two different stories so I can't do anything." You can't even make that up. So not only do they clearly not care at all about COVID protocol, but they're also apparently fine with old men shoving women to the ground for caring. Do not patronize. The pickle is the best. Lani is the best bartender. You have to come here every day of your life eat gizzards pickles and curds! Great hometown deal pickle is the number one bar in the area. Ahh the Dirty Pickle. At least that's what I like to call it even though the place is not dirty at all and I highly recommend it for a drink. The place is usually filled with locals, summer locals and vacationers. Prices are cheap and they have pinball. You can also get a Heggie's while you wait, enjoy some of the free popcorn. There is even a liquor store attached (could use more microbrews) but totally understand as it is one of the smallest liquor stores in the area. All that really means is something convenient and something for everyone. You can even partake in some paper crack (pull tabs) and support a local non-profit. read more

This place is good for drinks, but their full menu of frozen deep fried food from Costco is very disappointing. Had it not been for coronavirus times making dining a more difficult experience, we probably would have gotten up and walked across the street and gotten real food. Take the good with the bad. It's dated. The chairs are lumpy. Tables are chipped. Focus on the good. Decent beer selection (craft and domestics). Excellent prices. Good selection is either fried foods or pizzas. That's ok in my book; just know that going in. Here's where they get extra bonus points....service. The nicest people you will ever meet. Literally the worst/rudest customer service I've experienced. We were planning on having dinner, but after sitting down for 15 minutes the server told us she was getting off work and we had to order from the bartender. Mind you she walked past us repeatedly without acknowledging us never said a word about that for the 15 minutes we waited for her. Looking for an easy dinner after our first day at the lake. It should be noted that they have apps and drinks - no sandwiches. Which turned out fine. We got chicken strips for the kids and we had wings, fries, cheese curds, fried cauliflower and onion rings. Everything was hot from the fryer and excellent. Cauliflower was good, the wings were perfect. My vodka soda was strong but not burned. Definitely a "dive bar" ambience that was relaxed and casual. I would go back for sure. read more

Relaxing local bar, felt at home. Locals were friendly, bartenders took great care of us.

Service was poor and slow. We patiently waited at least 20 minutes for service. Finally, I went up to the bar and asked where I should place my order. The bartender said the waitress would come around shortly. A while later, the one and only waitress comes up to us and says "it'll be a lot quicker if you order at the bar." Well, ok then. They were out of almost every single appetizer we requested. The male Bartender made a comment that he "hates when people individually order from a group." He said it loud of enough for us to hear the comment. Not sure if they care about getting new customers at all but they definitely like the regulars - especially the old lady running around with homemade cookies. read more

Fairly attentive service with typical bar food. Breaded shrimp was pretty good, pizza was tasty but over cooked. Reasonable American beer selection, nothing special or extensive. Music was too loud, seating area was empty but still noisy. read more

A trip to The Pickle should always be on your itinerary when visiting Nisswa. It embodies everything an "up north" experience should be. Plus it has a cool name! Don't be surprised if you walk in and the floor is covered with peanut shells. Take a bowl, eat the peanuts, and throw the shells right on the floor! (Along with your losing pull tabs) While enjoying a cold adult beverage, be sure to try the fried pickles! Can't beat a fried pickle from the pickle. Had been looking forward to a fun evening in Nisswa on Black Friday for weeks. Stopped into the Pickle Factory for a couple of drinks. Left when we couldn't get waited on. I understand it was a busy night but only 2 bartenders on duty who clearly weren't interested in serving anyone but the locals. Had their heads down and wouldn't look up to see who was holding money. Waited on the locals on either side of us but continuously skipped over us. We finally got a bar-back to get us some drinks. Bought a home in the area this summer, but guess what Pickle Factory? Perfect place to go on a rainy day up north. Obviously, I would have rather been on the lake but since it was a rainy day, some bloodies hit the spot. The bloodies were just ok but all the drinks were inexpensive. I don't know if they have a full menu. But they do have Heggie's pizza, which is always a good lunch. read more

If you only want a drink, this place is OK. Food, order only if you have LOTS of time to wait for the food to be cooked. A group of 8 went here one evening. The waitress was wonderful and worked VERY hard inside and outside. I think she was the only one working on a Friday night. Great personality and delivery of beverages. The food other than pizza, is all deep fried. The food is made one order at a time, and brought to the table. The kitchen needs a lot of redo in order to be a restaurant.
