Well our HVAC saga continues but hopefully on a better path…read more This process as my reviews describe has been a challenge but I will give kudos when due. Arlinghaus has decided to change out the outdoor unit increasing size thus matching what was replaced. This is considerable expense to them but was the honorable thing to do. Hopefully this will be the final. Update to this review. In the end, Arlinghaus made a mistake sizing our replacement equipment up front but has gone a long way correcting that mistake in the end which is what really matters!

But the thermostats installed have never worked right. We've complained about them and had them out to check them and program them multiple times. Only one guy understands them so most of the techs made it worse. He got them to sorta work, but he revealed that they reset to defaults if the power goes out. They finally agreed to switch them out a week ago. Tech couldn't do it. Now there's a problem with the wiring. We've had no AC or fan for a week. We've called every single day and can only get their call service. They had to cut a hole in our ceiling to run duct work. They had a contractor repair it. The repair fell apart in months. Nobody EVER returned our calls. We finally had to pay our handyman to fix it. If they ever finish the job I'll let you know how their work is.

Customer service was absolutely fantastic and Tyler W. was accommodating and gave us clear explanations as to what was wrong. We received a text message with a picture of the employees so we knew who to expect and what they looked like. Arlinghaus has to send another worker out to discuss prices on a new furnace. Tyler was able to get our furnace working temporarily as we look into buying a new furnace. It cost $89 for him to come out and diagnose the problem. They will remove this from any extra work they may need to do. Unfortunately, in the end we could not afford even the lowest option they had for a furnace. They use a top furnace line brand and are more expensive then the national average. This was the only draw back for me that it was to expensive and I did not want to enter into a loan for a $7,000 furnace when the average homeowners pay is $3100. Regardless, they were transparent and did not pressure me into anything we didn't want to do. I highly recommend Arlinghaus for their professionalism and honesty with their customers.

My system was running well and did not need any service, when the Technician left, my system was not operating the same as when he started, My Central Air was not cooling my house and the system blower sounded different. I have lived in my house long enough to know how it sounds and feels, The person who worked on my system created the problem in order to create a service call and an unnecessary bill for a problem that he inserted. This is not the way to maintain customers or good reviews. If your service is not broken, the service person should not be out generating revenue. I was very concerned when he was measuring the amount of Freon as I heard a loud hiss as the vapors were being released. BTW, the same service person bypassed a safety cut-off device in my furnace last winter and, I had to buy the electrical device and reinstall it for the safety of my home. I am very dissatisfied with their procedures.

He also tried to tell me that my family and I were drinking contaminated water because my " geothermal system and hot water heater were incorrectly hooked up." I personally believe he is extremely rude and unprofessional, and does not have the knowledge when it comes to things such as geothermal. We had three separate licensed plumbers come out after David was here to ensure us that everything is hooked up correctly and to code - we are not drinking contaminated water. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. He exaggerated the amount of work that needed to be done, which would have cost me more out-of-pocket. Typical scammy contractor. 0/10 We ultimately got our deductible back from the home warranty company (after explaining David's lack of professionalism and his exaggeration on the work that needed to be completed) and chose a reputable/HONEST plumber for the job.

David Smith responded and took one look at the unit and said it needs replacing and is still under manufacture warranty and refused to touch. Therefore I had to pay another 150.00 for another company to come and light the pilot light. It turns out all Smith Mechanical technician had to do was just light the pilot. Also their customer service is horrible. I'm a senior citizen and it cost me $300 to get a pilot light lit. Avoid them at all costs.
