We used Ragin' Uptown Charters on Saturday evening, 10/21/17 to bring our out-of-town guests and kids from a hotel in Ballantyne to our son's Bar Mitzvah party in Uptown and then back to the hotel after the party. We contracted for 2 of their larger party buses. The drivers showed up on time and we're very professional and courteous. The only issue we had was no air conditioning on one of the buses and the other buses air conditioning was that great. Thankfully it wasn't that hot out! I'm giving this company 4 stars because of the a/c issue. Otherwise I would give them 5 stars! I would totally recommend Ragin' Uptown Charters and use them again! read more

Urban's Dictionary defines "raging" as "Partying, getting retarded, getting f***ed up." Pardoning the antediluvian expression for the intellectually challenged, this definition in no way is an accurate description of the service rendered by the obtuse and downright rude individuals at Ragin' Uptown. I traveled across the country for an extremely well-organized party this past weekend, and it was immediately clear that the weakest link was this party planning company. To wit: we were not allowed to drink on the party bus. If one cannot drink on a party bus, it simply becomes a bus. I did not travel across this sweet land of freedom to be told, "no." That is why we hosted our own Amerexit vote 240 years ago. Secondly, the coachmen went to the incorrect marina initially. While I had never been to Charlotte nor its environs before, this was not the tour I had really wanted of the MSA (metropolitan statistical area). Thirdly, upon arrival at the second marina, we were treated to a live performance of the frisking scene from Jean-Claude Van Damme's classic Double Impact 143 times. As a general purveyor of the arts, this may have been welcome had it not infringed further upon the aforementioned "raging." Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the bar service was nothing short of phlegmatic. I waited nearly 40 minutes to be served, being passed over for other more recent arrivals at the bar by the flustered publican at least three times. I assume that is why they work on a boat and not at Label. This is, of course, after the bartenders locked their own keys inside of their register. Suffice to say, I had an amazing time in spite of this collection of unprofessional pettifoggers. Thankfully, we had not used them for a wedding or something of great import, lest we might have missed the event and been woefully underserved after watching the nuptials. This review says nothing of the way they treated the party planner, which is abhorrent from everything I heard and saw with my own eyes. I wish I had more hands so I could give this company four thumbs down, but it seems like the word is already out about the way they do business. Steer clear. read more

I absolutely love this company! I have used them for 4 years and always have the best experience! The owner is super friendly and helpful and the bus drivers are the nicest people. Lori is the BEST! She always goes above and beyond to make sure we are happy (and safe). One year my phone somehow fell to the bottom of the bus (through a recently broken cup holder) and while we were at a vineyard she drove to a Walmart/target and bought tools to dig it out. Another year my friend left her purse behind, so Lori dropped us off at our next stop and returned to get the purse herself! The last year in my twenties - I had to celebrate with a bang... I know 29 is not a BIG birthday but why not have some fun. I gathered the troops and 30 of us headed on a big party bus to see Zac Brown band this past weekend. I was a little scared after reading some of the reviews on the internet about Ragin Uptown but after talking to the owner Jeremy and the girl in the office they were so nice and seemed very organized....and I am happy to say we had a great experience...Our driver showed up 10 minutes early and was very friendly. We got home with no problems and everyone had a blast. You can't beat it for the price if you have a big group of people. Bring your own CDs and the driver will be happy to play them for you and bring enough coolers for the night (we used the coolers for extra seats as well! read more

I'd rather ride on the raft fastened by Tom Hanks in the movie Castaway than ever step foot on Ragin' Uptown's sorry excuse for a "yacht". If you enjoy being patted down like a member of the do not fly list going through TSA, a poorly stocked bar, and getting lost for hours while soberly riding on a "party" school bus without air conditioning (in the middle of June)-- then get ready for the ride of your life! Thankfully, my friends and I were able to overcome the adversity that Ragin' Uptown put us through and still have fun. Although, I may need to seek therapy after our Captain announced that three of my friends and I were the sole reason that the boat was "sinking". Here's some advice for the owners of this Company: if you don't like to party, don't own a business called Ragin' Uptown that specializes in Party & Event Planning... just go home and hang out with your cats and watch Netflix. Post Note: In several reviews I noted that you all keep locking the keys to the boat in the register. This seems like something that should happen once, maybe twice. Ladie's "Pajama Party" was a huge success! The driver was courteous and a lot of fun!!

We held our entire wedding day - ceremony and reception on the Carolina Grace in June. It was beautiful and could not ask for a better experience. Helen, the captain, and entire crew were more than accommodating on our special day and made the entire event one to remember. They know the lake so well and knew exactly where to dock the boat for the most beautiful ceremony and all our guests could not stop saying what a unique and wonderful experience it was! Thank you again to the entire crew and Kim for arranging. 100% recommend Tara and her food prep/service team who made the tastiest custom menu for our diverse set of guests. I had a fabulous 50th bday celebration cruising on Lake Norman with you guys. The staff was very professional. We were supplied with (2) party buses to transport my guests to and from the Marina . The captain was awesome. We had such fun smooth cruise on the yacht. Plan to book again 2020!!!! My guest and I have outstanding memories!!!! read more

If there was a way I could rate this less than 1 star I most likely would. I am in sales and account management in Charlotte and the manner in which they treat their customers is unacceptable and difficult to comprehend. I believe it's important to point out that we had previously used this service for over 5 year for multiple events each year and have given them close to $40,000 in business. We will now take our business elsewhere. Here is a summary of the issues we faced most recently on their bus/yacht experience: *Our buses left 30 mins after the scheduled departure time *Our drivers took us to the wrong destination, wasting another 30 minutes *We spent 30 minutes on the dock waiting to get on the boat as we were searched and frisked.... So in total probably 1.5 hours of time was wasted *The bartenders were extremely rude, flustered, and ill prepared to serve 143 people. They locked the keys in the cash drawer *Drinks are no longer allowed on the bus *The conditions of their "yacht" and buses are awful. Major repairs need to be made. *To elaborate on the "yacht". The captain made an announcement that he needed everyone to move off the back of the boat as it was taking on water and we were running the risk of sinking. *On average we waited no less than 15 minutes for a drink from their bar. Poor planning and execution from their management team. To my shock, none of these issues were addressed post event and a credit was not issued for the poor experience. Again, as someone who makes a living in sales and account management they choose to operate their business in a manner than goes against the basic principles of how to treat a client. read more

Very poor communication. Very difficult to get anyone on the phone. This is a second job for the owner, and I don't think that they have any full time employees. They called me the day before my wedding to tell me that the buses would be smaller than originally promised. I got a lot of complaints from guests reported that the buses were overcrowded and very hot. read more

DO NOT RENT HERE FOR ANYTHING!! There are other party bus and boat rentals around. Jeremy the "owner" talks 1,000 miles an hour like Matilda's dad who is a used car salesman just to get you all confused. He promises everything but does not deliver. And when you try and call they will tell you they will have someone reach out right away, but it will take two weeks. You'll get an EMAIL(not a call) and EMAIL from "Roman" who doesn't know which end is up. They stole $500 from me and won't refund me any money at all after they screwed it up. They will only tell you they will give you a credit towards next rental that I know good and well I won't be renting with them again. Seriously look other places or waste your money. A 3 star on yelp is a no go! read more

On-time pick for getting us both to & from our destinations. Bus was clean and driver was courteous. I would go a different route if wanted something more formal, but for my ladies-nite-out, it worked out wonderfully. The mentionable cons were that we were not able to hook up our music to the bus' sound-system and that my guests needed to help with directions despite the driving using a navigation-app (missed a couple turns). Ragin' Uptown provided shuttle service for our wedding on 10/28/17 and I was very pleased with the service we received. They exceeded our expectations and I would use their services again in the future. I would recommend this company to anybody looking for a reasonably priced / dependable transportation. Jeremy was great to work with to explain all of the services / options offered. He was flexible with our needs and responded quickly to emails / calls. Run. Attended what was supposed to be a very nice party on one of this company's yachts and upon arrival I was frisked. So were the other 100+ guests in attendance. Like we were some hoodlums. Never mind the fact that this ate into our time we were paying for being actually on the boat, not the floating dock. And the man searching me peered into my bag that contained only a wallet, phone and sunglasses and told me he knew these were the "decoys", to suggest I was trying to smuggle something nefarious inside. Their bartenders were no different. I asked for a certain kind of vodka to be used in my drink (that was right behind her). She rolled her eyes and poured what was in her hand anyway. Never once saw her pour a full shot, and I was handed HOT beer cans that had been dropped and were dented all over. Very, very rude. Keep your money and stay away from this company. Don't throw it at people who treat you like you're ISIS when you're paying them $40 for one 6oz liquor/mostly water and ice drink and two hot beers. read more

This company is incredibly disorganized. Their communication is very poor and they do not keep to their word. If you look at their facebook page, there is a complaint from a customer and Ragin Uptown comments back with a terrible response. They do not treat you like a customer but instead like an annoyance. If you are looking to have a relaxed time, use a different company. read more

Everything was great, and that's coming from someone who is very particular. We were able to get on the boat early and decorate. We used our own caterers and everything was great. I wish I would have used theirs because I heard they are spectacular. Looking forward to the new yacht. Our party for our 16 year old was perfect. It rained, bummer, but as perfect as could be the skies cleared for about 2 hours for a perfect cruise. Then a cool mist fell over the lake and made for some priceless moments with all the teens dancing and singing in the rain. I would definitely do it again, maybe for Graduation. I had an upscale party crawl fundraiser event and I used Ragin Uptown as the transportation. The service was excellent. The bus was a perfect size. The event was a lot of fun. I have never worked with such a bad company before- good luck even getting someone to answer your call when you need assistance. I recently had a terrible experience with Ragin Uptown. We had a party on one of their yachts that a friend planned. Not ONLY did they not provide the yacht that was originally paid for, but they made us cut our numbers for how many people we could have on the yacht. Our "party planner" had to tell over 30 people they could no longer come. On our way to the yacht, our party bus got lost and took us an extra 30 minutes, losing more time on the boat. When we arrived, it took an additional 30 minute to enter the boat. The bartenders were TERRIBLE. They locked their keys in the cash register and could not handle bartending for a large group of people. There were only 2 bartenders when we had paid for 3. The bartenders were extremely overwhelmed and were very rude. I could go on but I think you get it. This company is VERY disorganized and tactless. read more

I've used this company in the past and the most recent experience was the worst. I had a really big event & they assured me they could handle the guest size and we did not get what we were promised and they showed up with buses with no air in the heat of July and also a bus that broke down. I tried to resolve this matter but never heard back from anyone other than, lies stating that all was well per the drivers. My guest were upset that was affected by the buses with issues & to make it right, I had to refund them for their experience. For this, I won't use this company, nor will I recommend them to anyone in the future. The courteous thing to do would have been to try to fix this situation and unfortunately they didn't. read more

Horrible experience had for a wedding in Charlotte. It was easily over 100 degrees and the bus had no air conditioning. Despite the pleas to open the windows there was no cooperation. I don't know how they can ever get a 5 star rating on here unless it was someone hired to do so.... please look elsewhere for your transportation needs. read more

Abandon Ship! As an avid seaman, I'd like to see this vessel and its owner walk the plank. I traveled three thousand nautical miles to get squiffy and sing some shanteys with my mates, with the Implication that our needs would be met by the Ragin' Uptown party company. Avast, our needs were knot met by the company's angry owner and his team of scalleywags. We had three buses to take us to port, one of which had no air conditioning. Spending over an hour with nothing to drink on a 95 degree day is not only not ragin', it's an invitation for a case of scurvy. In addition, the bus captain couldn't even find his bearings, and we found ourselves marooned in the North Carolina countryside, further extending our unfortunate period of non-ragin' and erasing my afternoon grog blossom. The owner refused to refund any of our hard-earned doubloons for our trouble and treated us as though it were our fault the bus driver was lacking in binnacle. Bad form! Finally dockside, I was met by a duo of very large men who tried to blow me down as if I were about to brandish my cutlass once on deck. I even felt a hand brush across my cat-o-nine-tails. Once we set sail, I hung my jib again as I saw the incompetent and uncaring bartenders, making me wait an hour at the bar before handing out warm brews with the speed and attitude of cabin boys fighting their first bout of seasickness. How were my fellow seamen supposed to get our due swill with all these delays? I couldn't fathom such an inefficient organization, and I often travel by boat in an era of cheap air travel and $2 gasoline. Since I can't give these hornswagglers zero stars, I will recognize the crew, some of whom were very friendly, as deserving of a star. The cantankerous bargemaster could not have tried harder to deliver a broadside to us and deep six our fun; luckily these swashbucklers still knew how to parrrty. Until Ragin' Uptown gets its ship together, I would recommend sending this company to Davy Jones's locker! read more

This is the most poorly run company I have ever dealt with. Everyone I have talked to that has planned an event with Ragin uptown has had awful experience, including myself. They will do their best to overcharge, over promise and under deliver. Kim and Jeremy are absolutely terrible at their jobs as well as being extremely rude and unprofessional. Everything worked out and my group had a good time. The order on the chairs was messed up and not what I had worked out with the rental people who work with Carolina Grace. They did try to make it right by using other seating I had not planned for. The only way to communicate with the event planner was by text which is not good communication when trying to plan an event, timing, confidence that we are on the same page, coordinate renting chairs/tables, and caterers. I still have not received my amended invoice. I would say the communication skills are very poor and I was left flying in the dark with a prayer that it would work out. I'm in sales so I know the importance of returning phone calls (or texting in this case) ASAP. The boat staffing, their recommended caterer all receive great reviews. read more

I would select negative stars if there was a choice for this company. My friend was almost killed on one of the party buses, due to the driver's inattention! After she was transported to the hospital the driver left the rest of the party at a bar and never picked them up. Biggest waste of $650, and the company never called to even see if my friend was ok or offered to refund the $650. read more
