He denied that, and only that, but he just told me to deal with it. I begged him for months and months to get back in as soon as I got back in, he started doing a bite adjustment on the wrong tooth for about 20 minutes. All of my teeth are way too low now I've been going to prostidontist paying Bay Area prices. I could strangle this person if it was legal. My husband changed to Dr. Mesbah in 2023 believing Dr. Mesbah was still a practicing dentist. Unfortunately, at the end of 2024 my husband found out that Dr. Mesbah has not been seeing patents for probably at least a year. Towards the end of 2024 the actual dentist (who I cannot find out who he is) told my husband he needed work on 5 teeth. Two of the upper front teeth needed filling due to soft spots. My husband was told by the front office person the total bill would be over $5,000. My husband decided to get a second opinion and was told work on three of the teeth was not needed at all and would have been unnecessary. When my husband finally got in touch with the dentist office it was with Dr. Mesbah's son. After trying to have a conversation with Dr. Mesbah's son, the son got very rude and hostile. I started to see DR. Mesbah in 2016 and found him to be very nice. He works slower than some dentists but that okay. He was very nice as was his wife who is the hygienist. I left in 2021 due to personal reasons and tried to return recently. When I called, his son answered the phone. I asked if he was a dentist and he told me that he just cleans up around the office and does a lot of things. Friendly but a little cocky on the phone which surprised me. He told me that the dental assistant would be calling me on Monday to set up an appointment. He also mentioned that his father is not there as much. I did not receive a call so I called back twice and a young lady answered the phone. I told her that a tooth from my denture had chipped of and set up an appointment for Wednesday of that week. She called back for a half hour delay because the dentist was running behind. That too was okay. When I arrived i had to update my info. I saw a nice looking young man behind the counter kind of bouncing around with a friendly smile and he told me that he was Dr. Mesbah's son. The assistant took me to a room and told me the dentist would see me shortly. well. his son pops in and tells me that they will not fix my tooth because I didn't have the dentures made there.( he didn't tell me that on the phone.) He told me that they could make a new denture for a certain price and I was okay with that but just needed this fixed for the holidays and a surgery that was coming up.He was not a dental assistant although he told me to take the denture out of my mouth and handled it. He said that he know a lot about dentistry because he grew up around it. ( I grew up around law enforcement but it didn't make me a police officer) so what is his point. He would not let me finish a sentence. He was rude, cocky and a know it all. He wore a surgical cap and scrubs which I found odd for someone who cleans up an office. He seemed to want to be a very important person telling me that the dentist would tell me exactly what his had said. He said that his father DE Mesbah his retired and hasn't worked for a year and a half although his name is on the door. I asked twice to see the dentist. I was stalled off. He did tell me about his personal life. Married. didn't know if his father would be a good grandfather and that his mother was not ready to be a grandmother. This guy is almost 40 years old and giving me all of this information. He said that her was the only child and it was hard because he had to do everything. lol. He did say his mom and dad were nice but customers took advantage of them. I came to the conclusion that this young man has an axe to grind, perhaps took over dads office as a manager of sorts, disliked older adults and loved to throw his weight around. I went up to him and told him that I would be leaving as I would not stay where I am not wanted. He said, okay. Wow. what a change from his father and mother. I did tell him that he should be ashamed of himself. I told him about my dental problems and my dentures and was questioned. Not the same place at ll. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

Another review ....on Mercedes the hygienist....I was told how bad my teeth was and I needed deep cleaning every 3 months , well went to new dentist and my gum pockets didn't match Mercedes... Now go every 6 months and this hygienist put fluoride varnish on my teeth to help protect my teeth . My gum pockets measured by Mercedes was wrong on purpose. She was horrible at my last clean ..she let my face get wet and let my mouth fill up with water . I could tell she was agitated at me for not giving her way . I found out she's married to Dentist. Dr.Mesbah is an EXTREME PERFECTIONISTS, this is why I give him 5 stars. I was a registered dental assistant for over 23 yrs in San Francisco. It took me many tries to find a good dentist. He has passion for the well being of a tooth,and patient. I can tell by the way he uses hand instruments not just a drill. This tells me he is a craftsman, dentist today do not use hand instruments to remove decay much. I'm very happy with this one of a kind dentist. I'm on my 3 crown from him and I know I've needed them for a while. No regrets, I fully trust him and his assistant is as professional as he's is. The hygienist Mercedes is another perfectionist. I was visiting family in Modesto when all of a sudden my temporary crown popped off during lunch. My regular dentist informed me that this may happen and I would need to get it placed back in my mouth as soon as possible. My family members there go to Dr. Mesbah and they recommended I see him. I wasn't sure if I would be seen on such short notice. I was quite pleased at the front office staff and them making themselves available to me when I explained the dire situation as was in. I did spend about 10 min filling out paperwork which is usually the case everywhere and shortly after, I was seen by the doctor. He was kind and friendly and had my temporary crown cemented back with stronger cement to prevent it from falling off again which it did not. I had some cosmetic work done to my teeth which is dr mesbahs expertise. He did a very bad job. It was extremely ugly work that he did. It needed to be ground down and polished. The front teeth were the worst and the composite or whatever the material was all fell out. Mesbah and his wife did not turn in any of my work to the insurance to pay my share. So to make a long story short...i contacted the insurance company and he was given 30 days to respond to them after i filed a grievance and within that 30 days he was ordered to return to me $2150. I was given a check immediately. His wife called me to tell me that they were going to have to drop me as a client because i chewed candy at night. This place is a joke! Thry did some sneaky and shoddy work. No wonder he cant keep a receptionist. I guess they are trained that this is how to do it. read more

Dr Mesbah has been a godsend for my teeth. I had a lot of work to be done and it was mainly because i dreaded the dentist my entire life. Literally. My nerves would have me shivering the entire time work was being done. He always made it so the injections never hurt and made sure my teeth were aesthetically pleasing. He would always check throughout the procedures if i was ok. His dental assistant is awesome and always tries to work with you to make sure you're there for your appointments. If I could give one star I would for unethical practices. I made four appointments since we have new dental insurance. I went to my appt and even had started my treatment. I received a call last week asking if I wanted to move my husbands appt from July 20 to July 7 and agreed since he was having some pain in his tooth. I called the morning of the appt to confirm the time and was told it was at noon. An hour before our appointment I received a call from the Hygienist, which is also the dentist wife to tell me that she had an emergency and needed to cancel, so I said okay we can reschedule the cleaning but he still needs to see the dentist. She then told me well you guys need to find a new dentist ???? She said they didn't want to take our insurance and decided they didn't want to see any of us, not even myself, who already was in process of getting work done with them ( I already had three teeth done personally the week prior) I was confused and questioned her and all she could do was tell me I needed to find a new dentist. No notice. Nothing. I find this very unethical. My personal opinion is they did a pre authorization on the work I needed to be done for myself and they were not happy with the contractual rate the Insurance was willing to pay so they just decided to drop us all as patients and they didn't even care that I was in the middle of my treatment!! It isn't right to treat people this way. I spoke to the insurance company and they informed me it has been years since this dentist renegotiated their contract so that is why they didn't get going rates. This isn't my fault! instead of talking to me and working something out they lied about an "emergency" and dropped us all from treatment. This is wrong. My husband even rescheduled his work for this appointment. Stay away they don't care about others and are willing to lie about it. I'm so disappointed. read more

I was a patient at dr mesbahs office. Him his wife and his assistant all ran a scheme through the insurance company and myself. I notifed the insurance company delta dental because i had asked his office many times to show me the difference from their price compared to the insurance pay. After a few months mesbah did send me some information that was not what i asked for. I spoke with delta and asked them about there services and what should be paid. We both discovered that he owed me $2,150.00 dollars . Delta gave him 30 days to pay me or they would drop him and file a greivance. I got my money back very quickly. Then i received a phone call from his wife stating that they were going to have to drop me as a patient because they had told me i wasnt to eat any more candy yet i continued. She said good luck and i hope you find a nice dentist. LOL. I was referred by delta dental to see dr. Nepo. He is an excellent dentist and i highly recommend him. I spent about $10,000 in mesbahs scamming office. I then needed to go pick up my records for the new dentist and saw the girl that works for him both as an assistant and receptionist leaving for lunch I started up a conversation with her and she walked so fast i would have had to run to catch her. Thats when i assumed that all 3 of them were in on it. The last 3 months i went there they had hired 3 receptionists and none of them were there for very long. They probably didnt want to have to do the bookwork and knew better than to stick around his office. Thank you for letting me share my worst nightmare, dr. Mesbah! I'm tempted to leave a lower rating since I waited with my 3 year old for almost an hour and a half without as much as an apology or explanation while we waited. Once we did go back the hygienist said the wait was unusual and she was very friendly with my daughter. The dentist was also friendly. They made it fun for her to be there. That being said the wait was inexcusable. They should have asked if I could come back in an hour or offered to reschedule. Also, I was only 80% satisfied with the dentist's exam and evaluation of my daughters teeth regarding her bite and how they are wearing. I'm not saying you should avoid them. I am a medical doctor and practiced medicine in Modesto from 2009 to 2011 and the best thing that happened to me that year was to ask one of my patients who she uses for a dentist. Her words to me were "if you are looking for the best dentist on earth, you have come to the right town!". She was absolutely correct and now that I have moved away and live in San Diego, I travel back and forth to see Dr. Mesbah and his wife, Mercedeh for all my major teeth care needs. It's a small family run private practice and I really appreciate the compassion, professionalism, and perfectionism that they offer. I have had a lot of traumatic experiences at the dentist's office before Dr. Mesbah, but after having had this doctor work on 6 of my teeth, I have NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY PAIN or discomfort, and have come to the conclusion that he is a true gem and worth the long travel. He is a perfectionist and his crowns are a work of art that only God can tell apart from real teeth. It was my first time in the office. I arrived early to fill out paper work and could hear people talking in the background, but no one came to greet me at the front desk for at least five minutes. The dental hygienist Mercedes who I believe is the doctor's wife gave me papers to fill out and told me to initial and sign for informed consent which stated that I give consent for any changes in treatment plans including root canals and restorative procedures as necessary and give permission to the dentist to make any/all changes as necessary. I told Mercedes I don't feel comfortable signing this because I'm just having a teeth cleaning, exam and X-rays today. She said well in the future if you need it you need to sign it now. I said well if I need those things in the future then the dentist can inform me of this and I will give my consent (that's why it's called informed consent.) She then said the dentist is very busy and wouldn't be able to and that if I didn't sign it I couldn't have my teeth cleaned there. I told her as an RN I would never make someone sign something that they weren't informed on or felt uncomfortable signing. She said I could not have my teeth cleaned there and that I should leave. So... that was my experience at this office. Extremely unprofessional and I think that is illegal to pressure someone into signing "informed consent" with no information. read more

I've been going to Dr Mesbah for a couple years now, and have to say I've never been more comfortable with a dentist! I am a grandma, raising my 7 year old granddaughter. I'll share that there was no prenatal care and a very poor diet until she was 3, when I was awarded guardianship. That said, she has very bad teeth, resulting in several fillings and even a baby root canal. But (and here's the important part) she's not afraid of coming to Dr. Mesbah! I also recently had to have a root canal for the very first time and I had heard all the horror stories. But you're know, I can honestly say I've STILL never even felt the shot of novocaine from him! I have been going to this dentist for several years. I have always had a very pleasant experience. The staff is very friendly and treats you like a person instead of a number. Both my young children love Mercedes as she makes them feel extremely comfortable and always makes sure they understand what she is doing. That is one thing that I love the most about this dentist. All the staff is super informative and you know exactly what's taking place, the dentist even asks if you need a break during a long procedure. I had an appointment for a cleaning on 10/21/2016. My Medicare Advantage Plus insurance benefits indicate that I must pay a $10 copayment per visit. It also indicates that I am covered for a prophylaxis cleaning, 1 per 6 month period, at NO CHARGE. Dr. Meshbah's office claimed that my payment needed to be $50; that they had raised their prices and were under "new office management rules." I said that I needed to contact my insurance company and did not have the cleaning. I followed-up and spoke with service reps at Delta Dental and Kaiser Permanente, my insurers. Both indicated, after checking my insurance program/coverage, that the $50 price was incorrect/inappropriate and that Dr. Rahim Mesbah's office is under contract and needs to follow the appropriate pricing guidelines. read more
