I went to Dr. Amin six or seven years ago to get checked out for a medical issue that other doctors…read moreand specialists could not diagnose. Recently, my Mom went to Dr. Amin for the first time with an issue that required an infectious disease doctor. Note that Dr. Amin now works only 2 days per week and is at a different location than the Oswell St. location listed here. Dr. Amin was the head of the infectious disease department at KMC for many years, and has decades of experience in this specialization. When I went to Dr. Amin, He spent more time with me on the first visit than almost all the doctors I have seen in my lifetime. He was very thorough asking questions, reviewing my past results and summaries, and coming up with a testing plan. He ran tests on just about everything possible. Although he did not come up with the "smoking gun", I was happy with the care that I received. I did go to an imminent infectious disease specialist through Cedars Sinai, and after looking over Dr. Amin's tests as well as the others, said that only one other possibility should be checked. She said that she knows Dr. Amin and that he is tops in her list of ID specialists in Kern County. When my Mom was referred to Dr. Amin by her primary care doctor, I was very pleased. Again, he spent considerable time asking questions, looking over previous results, and doing a thorough physical exam (which her other doctors have not done other than simple checks). The blood work he ordered was very comprehensive. We see him again on Wednesday of this week for his report of findings and possible interventions. I know he has worked very hard throughout his career, and is now probably enjoying semi-retirement, but I am so glad he continues to practice medicine for those folks like us who really need him. This new location for him seems to be well-run and the staff so far have been helpful, courteous, and professional.
