Not impressed by first visit. Went with a group of 9 for lunch. We had a reservation. We were not the only group, but I believe, the largest. One server in the entire restaurant, and he was also the bartender. Too much for only one person to be able to manage. By the time half of us were able to place our drink orders, the other half had already ordered and been served their drinks. Caesars were mostly ice, with very little "Caesar". Two of us were excited to order liver, bacon, and onions as we rarely see it on menus. Plates arrived with liver, (garlic?) mashed potatoes, one piece of broccoli, one piece of cauliflower, and extremely undercooked carrots that neither of us could eat as they were so hard. There was only a very passing acquantance with onions, with only a couple of visible bits of onion in the gravy on my plate. Both plates were delivered with steak knives. My slices were very thin and extremely tough. When you can barely manage to cut through a thin piece of liver with a steak knife, that's a problem. The woman beside me, who had also ordered liver, thoughly enjoyed hers, and said it was tender and delicious. I will agree with "delicious", as I couldn't fault the flavour. Mine, however, was far from being tender. I had to fight to cut through it, even with the steak knife. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal. Not sure I would try Railside again if ever in the area. read more

Our bus group had lunch at Railside on Thursday before a theatre date. After a prior unsatisfactory experience there my expectations were not high but this lunch was lovely! Salad, entree and dessert were all perfectly prepared and nicely plated. Their small serving crew were all amazing, providing a 3 course lunch to over 100 theatre-bound patrons in under 90 minutes. One of our favourite places to eat in Port Hope. Prime rib roast is always good. Staff are always friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Great burgers as well. Reservation recommended on weekends but not usually needed through the week. read more

Portions were small, eggs were not cooked as asked, weird kind of margarine on the toast did not melt even though the toast was warm. Also the home fries had a gross kind of onion gravy on them. Do not recommend this place for breakfast. read more

No one tells you that you have to order as you walk in door .. So the place we're you order your food is so stupid there are 10 people in a line and no walking room . Amazing local restaurant! Absolutely love the food, it is GREAT every single time. I will definitely be going back very often. Super courteous to all customers and all staff are very friendly. They do as much as they can to ensure all the customers needs and wants are met. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because: they have two sections, one is a formal dining area and the other is kind of like a walk in to order. Both are lovely, the food is great, however they don't have as much alcohol selection in their walk-in section. This place is a safe bet if you're in the area. There are two restaurants - a more formal dining area and more of a diner area where they take your order at the register. Both have pretty standard options. The deli has good sandwiches and breakfast options with classic sides like caesar salads and fries. You can't go wrong with a classic triple-decker club sandwich, my personal favourite. The dining area is greek themed. Again nothing special about the food it is just good quality with wholesome ingredients. I have had steak with rice and potatoes as well as the souvlaki. It all takes great and service is friendly. If you're in the area I would recommend it if you want good wholesome food without any bells and whistles. This place is confusing for some, because it has a top notch casual restaurant, open for breakfast lunch and dinner. AND it also has a dining room fir dinner with some of the best food and service anywhere. The chicken parmesan cannot be beat. read more

Came here with friends to a birthday. They go here all the time and told me it was the best steak ... My mouth was watering about steak when I arrived... I love the atmosphere about this place... Quiet and a lot of light. Not like the noisy and dark steak place we know that starts with The K . The prices on food and drink are awesome. However, if you order a steak here and want it blue rare it's not going to happen... My wife likes blue and I like rare... Mine was medium cooked and hers was medium rare... Very disappointing... I told the waitress this when she asked how all was... She did not really respond much she was a very good waitress working in a place that could not cook steak...yet this place was supposed to be known for steak... Our friends who brought us were embarrassed they had spoken to us about great steak from this place and knew I had not had steak in months... Long story short I would go back there again and tell them I wanted a blue steak hoping it would come out rare... But what would my wife say to get a blue one??? A bit of a let down for real steak lovers ...I do gotta say the price was way better than The K but then the steak was not as expected... You get what you pay for?? Then most places would do something to get you back there but no offer was made... I had an interview with the manager Maria for Sunday January 15th. She really wanted me in on Sunday and told her I had plans with my parents in Mississauga weeks prior to her call, as a birthday celebration for my boyfriend and I. So I told her I would try and make it work and asked if later evening would be okay (7pm). She wanted me to touch base and I had called her several times Sunday to confirm the time I would be back, cut my entire evening short by many hours, rushed back to Cobourg, just to hear NOTHING from her. I wasn't able to get ahold of her until Wednesday January 18th where she had told me she was sick and then mentioned she hired 2 other girls but would still like me in for an interview so I would be "in the system". Seriously unprofessional!!! STAY AWAY, if this is how she handles employees and potential employees I can only imagine how that restaurant is run!! read more

Very nice place to go for informal dining, or formal. The upstairs area has a very nice menu and table service, while the lower area had some gosh-darn delicious meals. My wife and I love this place. read more
