Medicare associate corrected her on her assumption & told her she had to rescind it not I to protect my rights. So what happened to my filing an appeal with the insurance. It was never mentioned. As to after care I am on my own.

I was her patient for a few years as her office was close to mine. While my needs were simple she…read morewas Okay, however when I needed a crown she failed at every level. She is rude and arrogant. The crown she fixed broke in two months. The next one she fixed was metal-fused and a nice shade of blue (I was against it but she promised if I didn't like it she'd redo it "with no questions asked," so I agreed.) When she fixed it I hated it -- who wants to have a blue front tooth? I asked her to redo it, as she had promised but she refused. The lab was fine with making a new crown at no cost but she said no and even wrote me a letter in all caps, saying I should find a different dentist. I wish she had told me that before I paid and endured all the unnecessary discomfort and pain. She said a regular crown wouldn't work due to how I bite. So I found a skilled dentist, who turned out to be great as well as compassionate. She listened, understood what I needed and fixed a great crown -- unlike Howatt's botched job, I've had the new crown for almost six years now and haven't had any problems with it (besides paying twice for it as Howatt refused even a partial refund, which hit hard since I was back in school at that point). My advice is --avoid her. I would never go back nor recommend her to anyone I care about. In addition to her lack of skill, Howatt has a very entitled attitude and some serious ego issues. Just look at all the fake filtered 5-star reviews with comments like "It is very encouraging when I hear my dentist say, and I quote, "We must be economically responsible about this procedure and for that matter any procedure we perform. Is it necessary at this time? Let's discuss the options." WOW!! Dr. Howatt is the dentist I want on my side when I'm trying to be responsible about Health Care and the rising costs of Health Care." She told me there are other patients that need my appointments more than me. That was not true. She was rude and unprofessional. I just realized that I started this review back when I was pregnant in 2014, but never ended up…read moreposting it... so here we go! I said it once, and I'll say it again... Dhay is AWESOME! I can't imagine in what shape this preggo body would be in if it wasn't for her treatments. I started experiencing a lot of back pain during my second trimester and a friend referred me to Dhay who came to my rescue. I made an appointment and she was able to see me right away and was super flexible with scheduling. She has after-work hours and the location was easy and convenient to get to. The only thing that was a bit frustrating is dealing with my insurance company. Dhay was considered an out-of-network provider which means they do not cover any of the cost of treatments, but Dhay diligently followed up with them to try and make things work for me so I could pay less for the treatments.. at the end of the day, the insurance company didn't cover any of the costs, but it was still SOO worth it paying out of pocket. Highly recommended! I wish I was still in NY so I can use her again with my next pregnancy!

I started with Dhay in my third trimester…read moreof pregnancy and must say it was worth all of the time and effort to trek into the city from Brooklyn to see Dhay. I was reluctant at first to get prenatal massage because a friend who was pregnant had once said "What's the point? you immediately go back to being achy and creaky again". Boy was she wrong and I was sorry I had waited until my third trimester to talk to my doctor and get referred to Dhay. After a 90 minute massage (always coupled with a mini-session to discuss how I was feeling and at home exercises and remedies) I left her office feeling great for the day and was sure to get a good night's rest, which when you are coming down to the end days is priceless. And sure my friend was right in the sense that within 24 hours my body had assumed most of its tightness, but to have that tightness be relived for an entire day was wonderful and more importantly only allow it to build up for a week, prevented further pain and aches. I also worked with a personal trainer and would share my progress with Dhay, she had great advice that also helped inform my work in the gym. I truly have to say that because of my work with Dhay, I had a very happy and healthy third trimester and an incredibly easy labor, even for a second child.
