For the longest time he would only eat one type of cracker and drink milk. We truly thought we had tried everything , we even did feeding therapy at home and drove all the way to New York for therapy, but nothing seemed to work. At first, our son started with once-a-week feeding therapy with Miss Nicole, who is very kind. She was the one who recommended that we try the intensive feeding program they offer, and we're so grateful that we followed her advice. Since starting the program, everything began to change. Within just a few weeks, they were able to help him start tasting juices, and in less than a month he began eating purées with a variety of flavors. The progress has already exceeded our expectations, and he continues to improve. We are incredibly grateful to Miss Shuba, who is always on top of everything for our son, and to Miss Lori, who is very approachable and supportive. Both of them monitor our son closely and respond to concerns right away, even at night or on weekends. Thank you also to Mr. Jorge, an incredible BT whom our son really likes. He is very kind and spends so much time teaching, guiding, and feeding our son while Miss Shuba closely monitors the process. And to Miss Sammy, a wonderful OT, our son is always excited for his sessions with her. All the staff are very welcoming and supportive. She understood every word but her expression was on a 9 month level. The office manager Jackie was incredibly helpful scheduling an evaluation even though we had to work with snow storms and my daughter being sick too. She has also been top notch filing all the claims with insurance. Jackie is also the nicest office manager and seriously runs a tight ship! Our therapist is Francesca and I cannot say enough amazing things about her. From the first session she was so warm, full of energy, and determined to help my daughter express herself and communicate with us. Francesca has gone above and beyond as well. She has met with our Early Intervention specialist after office hours and reached out to our preschool teachers as to how they can effectively get my daughter to talk more. Francesca has built up my daughters confidence so she feels better talking to us and others outside of our home. Great, I'm out of inpatient and on my way to outpatient recovery. Upon arrival I was given the new patient info form to complete. I have a fair idea of the PT billing amounts to an insurance company. You automatically have certain expectations. First I notice that the form is: off center on copy paper, re copied enough times that there are copy marks and smudges everywhere. Move on dude. OK. The form is one page and crowded, two pages would have been nice. Oh here we go ... try fitting your address et.al. in these spaces. Good luck. Just a first impression. I am going to say that the room is depressing. I am then directed to one of the small office rooms to speak with a Therapist. The conversation was probably about why I was there. I don't remember specifically. I do clearly remember that a one point he said to me "I don't think I'm going to like you.". That erased all of the conversation before and after. As I rise to leave, he hands me a page of exercise diagrams that can be done at home. The same over copied, off center, streaked appearance as the first paper. One call to the Insurance Company cleared up everything, I failed to appear at my next appointment. If you can change your plans on a whim and go around the therapist schedule and can tolerate constant cancellations, last minute changes to time and date, and last minute everything, then the therapist is actually pretty good.
