They were affordable, knowledgeable, and very willing to work with my needs and my budget. They were able to obtain the permits that were needed which is an important and valuable service. They also took care of the structural engineering that was needed to make sure that we had sufficient support for the deck. Their showroom is very helpful. There are samples and some mockups of decks, railings, lighting, etc. There are lots of options and the staff was great about explaining the options but not pressure-upselling. I felt comfortable choosing the materials and extras with their help. After the project was finished, there was one support post that didn't look finished to me when I looked at it from our dining room window. All Decks was great about coming out. After seeing and understanding what I wanted to upgrade, they were able to install a matching trim piece that made the post look complete. The deck has been installed now since Oct 2024. It still looks great and I couldn't be happier.

When we decided to expand our 12' x 16' deck out and to the sides, we began calling around for…read moreestimates. We heard from the son of one of our neighbors about a guy who did his deck, who was reasonable and ethical. We contact Northwest Custom Deck and set an appointment with him within the week. Chris, the owner, met with us and thoroughly discussed what we wanted and how he worked, giving us realistic ideas of what to expect and a very reasonable quote compared with others we'd obtained. We told Chris about our previous nightmare experiences with contractors, and he was very reassuring about his company and workers. Six weeks later, work began. It took two weeks from start to finish, which included taking a 6-foot fireplace monstrosity down, building the joist (the bones or framework) for the deck, laying the decking meticulously including the "picture frame" , building two stair sets and installing them, and then completing the railing. Chris' design for our deck was beautiful, and he made suggestions along the way for us, completely explaining everything. His work crew, Spencer and Sam, were diligent, meticulous, polite and clean. They were easy to have working on our back deck right outside the windows. They also redid some poor construction done on the original decking that left the deck unlevel, restoring it to building code standards. We could not be happier!!! The design, the workmanship, the communication, and the final product. A 16" x 36" deck, is everything we hoped for. Our next-door neighbors liked the deck so much they hired him to expand their deck. I really can't recommend this company highly enough! These days, it's rare to run into a company that cares so much about their workmanship and charges reasonable prices.

He also patiently worked with us to help decide which composite to use for the staircase surface. Wasili then send us a very fair bid. After he sent us photos of other houses for which he did similar work, we accepted his bid. Wasili came out to our house the very next day, dropping supplies off and starting demo. When he did that, he also went above and beyond. He suggested two upgrades to the work he bid on, offering for free to provide am additional cross-brace and to use composite for the risers as well. Naturally we accepted the upgrades. He got the work completed in 2 1/2 days. Everyone who's seen the work has complimented it. If we have future projects, we'll reach out to Vertex first.

Our townhouse rooftop deck replacement was supposed to take 4-6 business days, but instead took…read moreroughly 4 weeks, and in the end, it does not reflect the amount of money that we spent on it. We were on a deadline, as we were moving out of the country and needed the rooftop deck replaced before we left, so that we could rent out our townhome. We paid a deposit of 50%, and were assured that the materials (all of them) would be ordered and the job completed on time. The demolition of the old deck went smoothly on August 11th, but then there was a delay getting the materials, which did not arrive until August 28th, so over 2 weeks later. We were understanding, as delays happen, but during this time we had no access to our rooftop deck as the wood had been removed. We also had no access to our off-street parking area for the duration of the construction, as this is where the materials and tools were stored. Once the materials were available, they were delivered, but no work was started that day. Once the construction finally began, only one person was sent each day, so the work progressed very slowly. Additionally, not enough of the correct color of material was ordered, so we had to make a choice between a longer delay while more was ordered, or having two different colors of material on the deck. As we were under a time constraint, we chose to have two different colors, which looks strange but we felt like we had no real choice. As the deadline of when we absolutely had to have the project done approached, we made it clear that we were dissatisfied with how long the project was taking, so Martin had 3 people show up so that more could be accomplished in one day. This felt frustrating for two reasons: One - he could have had more people working on our project the entire time which would have made it go much faster, and two, because it was so close to our moving date and the work absolutely had to get done, it feels as though it was very rushed and does not look as professionally done as it should. Some pieces don't line up well, and overall, it just isn't what we thought we were paying so much for. From start to finish, what was originally quoted to us as a 4-6 day project actually took 4 full weeks, and after all of that, we were not satisfied with the result, but had no recourse because we are now out of the country. Martin was nice and communicative, but I cannot recommend his company to others. It was already an incredibly stressful time preparing to move abroad, and this construction project made it much more so.

These guys showed up on time, worked hard, and were generally polite and professional. However the…read morequality of the work leaves a lot to be desired. On a small deck, I've already noticed at least 5 boards that will have have to be replaced as they are cracked, or poor quality. The baluster(Vertical 2x2's below the railing are cut to completely different heights, and separated by odd widths. Top Rail has already split, and installed incorrectly leaving gaps beneath it on the supporting rail. The most concerning is some of the supports were installed off center, and not level, or splitting entirely. I worry about safety.
