We enjoyed our stay at the Elegante! We only stayed one night as we were only driving through but it was comfortable and clean. And the hospitality was a 10! Everyone was friendly and kind, even the ones who had to work Thanksgiving day/night. The rooms were spacious for the four of us and we got a good nights rest. In the morning we all enjoyed the complimentary breakfast before we made the rest of the drive home. The bar/common area feels like a mountain lodge. There is a large hearth and TV which is a great place to relax. My husband has stayed at the Elegante in Lubbock a few times, which has also been a great place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay!! My family enjoyed everything! Cozy lodge feel decorated for Christmas with a fabulous breakfast buffet, made to order eggs, omelets and waffles and so much to choose from on the buffet. The fire pit out back is warm and great for seeing the stars. The service was wonderful at check in, bartender and servers at breakfast. Great cocktails at the bar and we even saw wild horses from the patio. Highly recommend!

Would have given a 1 or 2 star but the people who work there are super friendly and nice. The facility is run down. For example, our shower had mold and the sink stopper didn't work which meant no draining until it got fixed. Took three days to get fixed. The pool area is starting to fall apart with plaster pealing. A high point is the breakfast area. They do a great job and even have a cook to make some eggs, how you like it. Management needs to take a look around and ensure the facility continue to decay.

This was my second stay at the Lodge and it was wonderful. The front desk attendants were very helpful, the room was spotless, and breakfast was delicious and the chef and woman bussing were friendly and accommodating. The woman who was the bartender the evening I ordered I ordered beer was aloof and inattentive and her sour disposition was hilighted by the professionalism and warmth of the other hotel staff. I noticed it was just with my group. The rooms are comfortable and were set up so it was easy to work in the evenings. The fireplace is relaxing and being able to sit outside looking at the course was so peaceful. My colleague commented that he enjoyed watching the deer being moved off the golf course. If I'd been there with more time I would have taken advantage of the beautiful outside facilities. The golf course looks stunning. Breakfast was delicious. I realized too late the 1st morning that there are omelets and eggs made to order and the second day I was in a rush so ate from the freshly prepared food in the buffet line. It was great to be able to eat quickly and get started with my day. It is a real breakfast, not continental only, and I appreciated being able to have real eggs, fruit and saw tamales that I missed out on (next time!). Staff was great about suggesting restaurants to choose from, and one night we brought a pizza back to the hotel so we could work in the lobby as a group. I anticipate additional travel where I would be staying in Ruidoso and have every intention of staying here again! The photo attached to this review was the morning view from my room.

Trash that has been there over 16 hours.

We get checked in and walk to our room to be surprised with trash sitting outside our room on both sides. I reported it to the front and no one ever came to gather it. Pretty disgusting!!!! Since we are in the middle of a pandemic the pool had restrictions. Only 16 people for 1 hour. The woman running it wouldn't let more than 10 and was a bit rude!!! At about 8 we started hearing the room next to us start fighting and slamming things. We ignored this until about 10-1030 at which time I called the front desk. She claimed maintenance would come check it out. Obviously this never happened as they continued to fight, slam doors, and what sounded like hitting the wall until 12-1230. I have a four year old and it was a Sunday. Front desk could of done something about this. This is not a cheap hotel but they surely do act like they are. The "breakfast" was okay but like I said they want certain restrictions for the pandemic but want everyone to share the same milk jug. Final straw, bar is supposedly open for happy hour from 5-7 (I believe) for happy hour and then until 9 for regular priced drinks. Bartender said she wouldn't stay open that late. They offered wings and pizza. Wings are frozen and cooked with the pizza. Pans looked dirty. You weren't allowed to have your own drinks while the bar was open. I do not recommend this hotel for the price.

First time here very friendly staff,we felt welcomed, rooms are huge very clean , pool Jacuzzi was Fabulous, breakfast make to order eggs , best part Super soft Biscuits and gravy, buffet Kept full . We were on third floor best Unexpected part , opened the blinds and saw a herd of elks laying out in Pasture. About 8am the herd headed to another area crossing the parking lot , Definitely worth the stay.

This is a very well taken care of resort. A little outdated decor is a reminder of the late 80's. Nice indoor pool and golf course outside of the hotel. I enjoyed the 3 mile walking trail and the many Elk and trees. Alfredo the Chef did a fantastic job with taking orders for omelette and other custom orders. I will re visit soon!

Ruidoso Lodge Cabins, oh how I would love to go back!…read more While we were there, we stayed in one of the Hidden Canyon cabins, which was so wonderfully remote. Tucked away between the foothills of the mountains, we got to experience a peaceful, quiet long weekend. There are only two other cabins on the road that ours was on, so the quietude really was palpable. In the mornings (we got up before our neighbors, apparently) it felt like we were the only two people in the whole world. Even though it was chilly, we would go out on the deck to enjoy our morning coffee (for him) and tea (for me) while listening to the creak of the trees, the chirp of birds, a distant woodpecker hunting for breakfast... it was just so lovely. Actually, the in-your-face nature reached a whole other level when we had a moment interacting with the local deer population. We were on our way to the car to head towards town, when we suddenly realized that there was a herd of deer wandering towards us. Not wanting to scare them with the car door sounds, we just stopped and stood completely still. We had expected them to just continue on their way, but they actually decided to stop and check us out. A few of them actually came right up to us and (I swear, I couldn't make this up!) licked our hands! (For the "pics or it didn't happen" people out there, please do see the pictures I've uploaded. Told you-- I couldn't make this up!) Regarding the cabin itself-- the amenities were everything we could have hoped for. The kitchen was immaculately cleaned and ready for us to make a meal in, the bathroom was lovely with its skylight and river stone shower, and the bed... well, it might have been just about the most comfortable bed the husband and I had ever slept in. Not kidding! Honestly, I can't do this place any justice by writing about it. You'll just have to go take a look at the pictures, or better yet, go stay for a weekend yourself! It really is an amazing experience.

This is the first time that we have been back since the flood. This place is very sad and depressing. They not spending anything on taking care of the yard, no flowers, no upkeep on the cabins. 4 Stars - A High-Desert Blackjack Fever Dream…read more There are casinos, and then there are casinos that feel like a mildly hallucinogenic roadside poem written at 7,500 feet above sea level. This is the latter. The blackjack tables here are loose in that beautiful way that makes a gambler feel briefly chosen by the gods. Chips slide, cards slap the felt, and the dealers and pit bosses carry a refreshing lack of casino stiffness. Nobody's breathing down your neck like a tax auditor of sin. The vibe is relaxed, almost conspiratorial--like the whole room knows we're all here for the same ridiculous dance with probability. Two dealers deserve special mention. Makaila runs a table like a jazz drummer--smooth, quick, unflustered. June, meanwhile, is a delightful menace. She enjoys tricking players into thinking she's pulled a blackjack. She'll pause, squint, grin, and for a brief moment the table collectively experiences a small existential crisis before she reveals the truth. It's performance art disguised as card dealing. The hotel itself sits out in Mescalero, right beside Ruidoso, overlooking the calm waters of Mescalero Lake--a high-desert lake that looks especially poetic when the mountain air hits your lungs like cold champagne. At 7,500 feet elevation, the place has that crisp alpine quiet that makes you feel like you've wandered into some strange mountain monastery... except the monks are holding blackjack chips. Inside, the casino is modern, comfortable, and easy to navigate. Outside? The parking lot is a bit ugly--like a sun-baked asphalt lizard. But it's shaded, which in the high desert counts as a civic virtue. The crowd is mostly reasonable. Sure, every casino has a few characters who appear to have been assembled from spare parts and bad decisions--but overall the patrons were friendly. I even noticed quite a few young women comfortably playing at the tables, which usually means the atmosphere hasn't drifted too far into creep territory. The rooms are spacious and many have great views of the lake, which adds a peaceful counterpoint to the card-table chaos downstairs. And if you're the adventurous type, there's a disc golf course nearby plus plenty of walking trails along the lake. It's a nice way to clear your head after battling the dealer and the laws of mathematics. One practical note: Hydrate like a camel preparing for a desert opera. The air here is dry enough to turn a raisin back into a grape. Would I come back? Absolutely. Between the mountain air, the laid-back blackjack, and the occasional theatrical dealer mind-game, it's a wonderfully strange little high-desert gambling outpost. Four stars. Bring water. Bring luck. And keep an eye on June's face when she peeks at that second card.

We traveled from out of state for a family vacation and specifically chose to stay at this hotel to support a local business rather than a large franchise. One of the reasons we selected this property was because it openly promotes itself as a pet-friendly hotel. We also paid the required pet fee for our dogs, with the understanding that they would be welcomed as long as we followed your policies. which we have. Throughout our stay, we were repeatedly told that complaints were being made about our dogs being noisy in our hotel room. This was very concerning, as we have never had issues with our dogs at any hotel in the past. They are well-behaved, quiet, and sleep in their kennels when we are away from the room. Our dogs were also with us for the majority of the day and were not left unattended for extended periods of time. The only incident that occurred was when a room cleaner knocked on our door, which caused our dog to growl, which is a natural response to an unexpected knock. Our dog did not bark, and the situation was quickly resolved. This isolated moment does not justify repeated complaints or accusations of ongoing noise disturbances. Despite paying a pet fee and following proper procedures, we were made to feel as though our dogs were not actually welcome. We were effectively made to feel that our dogs should not be left alone in the room at all, even while properly kenneled, which is unreasonable for a hotel that actively advertises itself as pet-friendly. What is even more troubling is the unprofessional conduct displayed by the manager, Michael Lopez. He instructed one of his employees to notify someone from our room yet again about these alleged complaints, and that person happened to be my 15-year-old son. Addressing a minor regarding a guest complaint is completely inappropriate and unacceptable. Any communication regarding concerns should have been directed to an adult.Because of the repeated accusations, the inconsistent treatment regarding your pet-friendly policy, and the stress this situation caused our family, we have decided to end our stay early and will be leaving one day ahead of our scheduled departure. This is not how we expected our family vacation to end, and it is extremely disappointing. We made a conscious decision to support a local hotel, expecting better customer service and professionalism. Instead, we were met with repeated accusations and poor judgment from management. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted by how this situation was handled. I hope this complaint is taken seriously and that appropriate steps are taken to address the unprofessional behavior and inconsistent enforcement of policies so future guests are not treated the same way.
