I had a lovely facial here while on vacation but almost felt like she was scolding me for having dry skin (I'm not used to being outside all day, in January, in Canada) and then at the end she really tried to sell me nearly $800 worth of products. Had a mani pedi and facial. The spa is tight, the sitting area was really dark and small with no cold water. The changing room is terrible ...lockers... one small sink ...two showers... no toilets really strange. My mani pedi was great! The facial was fine nothing great no hand warmers no warm table it really was basic with a capital B. The spa immediately was up selling me on the hammam lierally five minutes after I arrived. I found that to be pedestrian. I was asked to take off my necklace for my facial and I hesitantly complied. BIG MISTAKE. The estatician didn't put it anywhere and didn't say hey place it here so I had to put it on a random cart. As a result I left it behind. I didn't realize it until later that night. I immediately called the next day and of course they didn't have it and I stopped by later the next day but no go. when I mentioned I shouldn't have taken it off the receptionist said oh ...but it's better its not good to get the products on it. I scheduled the Hammam (Turkish Bath) on my Birthda. I have to say I was disappointed at the fact that my expensive watch was stolen from my locker. I did not think that this would occur at this so called luxury spa. My locker was on the very bottom left hand side, and I could not see the numbers to well, so I did not lock my locker ( my fault). I did not notice until I left there that my watch was stolen. I had called later that evening and the Reception stated it was not there. I was really upset because it was the principl, I know that it can be replaced but it was special to me. I would of never brought it with me to the spa, but we had afternoon tea at the Ritz so it was right after. read more

I was here for a mani-pedi this afternoon and was really happy with how it turned out and the service here. It's a nice environment, and my nails turned out beautifully. Unfortunately my toenails were not quite dry enough when I left and one got ruined by my shoes. (This was not really Rainspa's fault, they made a good effort and I only had limited clothes.) When I got back to my hotel and discovered what happened, I called them and asked if there was any way to get them touched up. Even though they were busy and didn't really have anybody free, they found a way to squeeze me in and fix my nails just a few minutes later. I could't remember the exact shade but they helped figure it out & they turned out looking great after all. I would highly recommend this location. They were friendly and accommodating even though it probably would have been reasonable for them to give me a "too bad, so sad." There were no problems with speaking English here. read more

I have been here a few times for last-minute much-needed massages and have always been happy with my choice. The spa is inside hotel Place-d'Armes. It's a nice place, typical of a spa: smells good, has relaxing music with a tranquil ambience that makes you want to whisper everything. The staff is always very courteous, helpful and nice. I have had a different massage therapist everytime as it's always been last minute. Every single one of them have always been very professional, efficient of my need. The massage therapist I had yesterday was Diana (I dont remember other names because it was a whole back) and she was very attentive, always making sure that the pressure was ok for me etc I definitely recommend this place read more

Lovely therapist, Michaela (?) she had wonderful touch, is kinesiologist. Most comfortable massage table ever, like a Casper memory foam mattress topper. Wish I could have stayed to do hammam, but had dinner plans. Next time I visit, I'm definitely staying at this hotel, charming and in excellent location. read more

This spa is located on the third floor of Hotel La Place D'Armes. This is one of my three favourite hotels in Montreal. Gorgeous exterior, friendly and helpful front desk staff, located in Old Montreal, three minutes from the metro, and nice rooms (get one with a brick wall - much cozier.) In terms of the co-ed hammam (steam room), I give it 5 stars. The steam and temperature levels are set perfectly. Since it was a weekday afternoon, we had the hammam to ourselves. Nice. From what I remember about the massage, I give the massage therapist 5 stars. (I fell asleep halfway through.) I simply wanted a relaxation massage and told her my likes (medium pressure and long, flowy techniques) and dislikes (using elbows or that chopping motion) and she delivered. Then during the massage there were several times when she did a technique that I liked and I would ask her to do it some more and she was very accomodating. The annoying and inconvenient thing is that the reception and treatment room are on one floor... the hammam is on another... and the changing rooms on yet another (you actually have to use the elevator.) Finding a good massage therapist is difficult, especially given it such a personal preference and every massage therapist has their own style. Being local to Montreal I've tried many spas and massage therapists at each spa. I've been to Rainspa several times and have enjoyed the experience (especially the hammam), but this time was so different. Laurian Alexandre is a young massage therapist and has been practicing for only 6months, but has such great technique and really knows how to work on pressure points. It's exactly what I needed after a stressful few weeks, traveling for work and adjusting to the cold weather. I highly recommend asking for him if you're going to Rainspa. I think I have found my massage therapist! read more

My friend and I were in Montreal on a girls'/birthday weekend. Having very little information about Montreal, I did a little research and found this spa. We got the "Treat for Two". And it was a wonderful, mind-blowing experience. My masseuse was Robert - he was calm, knowledgeable and very professional. I was left like a boiled noodle after he was done. What a great feeling - an hour long massage- to have all the kinks worked out of you. Next experience was the "express pedicure". I'm sorry to say I can't remember the techs' names. They were great ladies. There was no rushed feeling. They were absolutely meticulous. Our last stop in the spa was the hammam. It was quiet, humid, and just like the rest of our day ...relaxing. Was really looking forward to this spa that I had booked with my mother for her birthday. We had actually picked the hotel just for the convenience of the spa bookings. We had booked two, 90 minute massages (ie not cheap) and the spa was EMPTY. Still we were charged an extra $20 for the steam room, despite the fact the woman who checked us in had no idea where we could put our clothes. We were not offered so much as a bottle of water. But the main event - the massages - were absolutely terrible. Like the worst we have both ever had and I cannot believe anyone would feel differently. Weak pressure, strange technique and just overall counting the minutes until it was over. When we were done they literally could not have cared less about our response. The employees of Rainspa are very professional, the service is great. The price is not as expensive as other spas in Montreal. You could come when the spa opens up and spend your day there till it closes. The steam room is amazing, massage is great as well. We spend about 4 or 5 hours in this spa, back and worth into the steam room, and out drinking free tea( they also have water mixed with cucumbers, and strawberries, and apples on the plate for their customers as well. I had a full body massage, and my wife had a manicure, in all we really enjoyed our stay there. Thank you guys for a great time that we had. read more

Montreal is REALLY cold in April! Desperate to escape the cold, we decided sightseeing was overrated and came to the Spa instead. This place is great value. Cost less than $300can for a couples massage 1hr and Couples 30 min pedicure plus use of the Hammam. The massages were both excellent and the pedicures were good too. Somethings to note. The layout is cramped. The changing rooms are TINY. Three women it was more than full. The relaxation area is not very relaxing. It is also very small and has benches rather than loungers. We were lucky as it wasn't very busy while we were there so we just lounged on the benches, wouldn't be great if there were other people about though. Check in was a bit confusing, didn't really know what was happening. Receptionist thought we were a different couple, quickly sorted out though and we got changed and headed to the Hammam. Which was great. Overall I think this place is excellent value. Services were great. Staff are friendly. Spaces are small, but if they were larger and more luxurious you'd pay twice the price. read more

This is one of the nicer spas in Downtown Montreal. Located right in Old Montreal, it just as easy to combine your spa trip with a hotel night stay at the Hotel Place D'Armes. With a really comforting Hamaam Room, the spa offers many kinds of treatments. One that I particularly loved was the Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment. Prices are reasonable and it's a friendly environment. If you can, combine the spa appointment with a night's stay at the hotel. It will definitely spoil you and want you going back. If you are in Montreal and need to be pampered, treat yourself to a visit to the Rainspa. Have the hour-long massage and the Dead Sea Mud Wrap. This was absolutely the most relaxing experience i have ever had. I personally think that you should ask for Isabelle. She went above and beyond. She even heated up the mud and gave an additional massage. It didn't hurt that she was one of the sweetest people I have ever encountered. Follow the mud wrap up with a stay in the Hammam (a Middle-Eastern style scented sauna, complete with herb teas and a place to rest and cool off between visits). DO NOT FAIL TO TREAT YOURSELF TO THIS EXPERIENCE! To die for! read more

I am so impressed by this spa! Another yelper commented that scheduling was a breeze - for us too! I called on a Saturday and had booked a couples massage for the Monday morning. We arrived 10 minutes early and were welcomed to water and fresh fruit, our massage therapists Sunita & Julia were divine!!! Actually, both my fiancé and I are still talking about them. We go to spas whenever we travel and go at least every other month here in Toronto and these ladies take the cake!! Highly recommended - I wish now we had done the 90 minute or added another service. NOTE: I read another review on another site that someone was upset that the massage therapist had put oil in her hair, I didn't mind one bit as the scalp massage is my favourite part - I suggest informing the therapist of any rules you wish her to follow before the appointment - but just an FYI the massage beds are ridiculously comfortable - like out of this world! read more

This was my first time at Rainspa and given the location and reviews, I was disappointed. Nothing made me think "I have to go back". I booked a full bikini wax and the aesthetician spread the wax in an illogical way, like a kindergarten art project. The wax wasn't warm enough, so the application was uncomfortable. My skin was just tugged at. Compared to all my previous wax appointments, my skin is more sensitive and irritated than it has ever been. My massage was great, but I was cold the whole time. I asked if it was possible to turn the heat up, but didn't feel a difference. There was cold air coming out of the window, the tables don't heat up and the covers aren't very thick/warm. Also, even though there was relaxing music, the traffic and construction noise overpowered it most of the time. I wanted to enjoy my experience here, but nothing stood out, just a basic spa. Maybe if I had chosen other services my opinion would be different. read more

Hi, I was at the Spa yesterday evening. It was fabulous. The owner was very welcoming, and I had Kelly work on my hands and feet. She is such a breath of fresh air. She spent an hour on my hands and feet, we had a great conversation, and she did an amazing job! At the end of my service, I was even able to order a glass of wine which was brought up to me, as i relaxed and let my nails dry. They went above and beyond with regards to client satisfaction. Even the Hammam, which is communal, felt private - thick with steam, you can't see your neighbours even if they're two feet away. An absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. First of all, they were able to accommodate my friend and I for a last-minute Classic package and hammam visit, and I was able to book over the phone very easily. Upon arrival, the receptionist was so incredibly sweet, giving us a careful tour and tips on using the hammam. The steam room was so relaxing, and the complimentary tea and water helped. My massage with Nicole was among the best I have ever received, and she was very conscientious about everything she was doing. Perfect pressure, able to respond to any directions given (like my request not to put oil on my scalp or face). Then BFF and I had our mani-pedis with Jana and Julia, and the time sped by - both ladies were hilarious and fun to chat with, and were very careful of any sensitive spots. They gave us great advice on sightseeing too! Finally, I accidentally lost my keycard, but the receptionist found a replacement right away to allow me back into the locker room to change and retrieve my things. Went for the "Treat for two" on the first day of the new year: 60 min Swedish massage, express pedicure, access to steam room. The massage was great, the pedicure was fun and the steam room was amazing. The therapists were very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxing. You can easily stay there for a while without being bored, they have water, tea and apples and a nice (but small) relaxation area. During the whole experience, we felt well taken care of. As our massage therapist said "There are no clocks at Rainspa". You can keep the slippers, which is fun. There is valet parking service at the hotel for 12 dollars. The only downside was when it came to paying. The receptionist wanted to charge us a good 100 bucks more than the actual price of the package. The package is around 150 and we were asked to pay more than 250 bucks. When we told her that the price was not right, she said: "Well, there are taxes and you had the optional aromatherapy oil during the massage at extra cost". We were very confused as to why a handful of aromatherapy oil would cost 100 dollars. She insisted the price was correct. We actually had to calculate the correct price in front of her, after which she replied: "Oh, I forgot to charge this under the special price of the package...". There was no apology from her end. Of course we ended up paying the correct price, but this encounter was quite a downer after the relaxing experience in the spa. To recap: The therapists and treatments are really nice and everybody is very friendly. I will most likely go back at some point. It's not the therapists fault they hired a receptionist who can't count. As a tip: make sure to double check the amount they want to charge you. ;) read more

We are in Montreal celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary with another couple. Decided to spend the day at The RaIn Spa. We both received 90 minute facials with a mani - pedi. I had the pleasure of having Agnus for all my services and she was amazing. She was professional, friendly and followed my cue on conversing or being quiet. The services were great and the only issue was the bench you sat on for the pedicure was pretty uncomfortable and awkward to get up from. I would most definitely return again- worth the $$$ read more
