Fortunately, fate intervened, and we were able to plan for me to pick up two 4 piece dinners, and get it home on a cold, winter day. My wife called in the order ahead of time, asking for it to be ready by a specific time. My order was ready, right on time. A four piece dinner is comprised of two pieces of white meat, and two of dark, along with a good portion of fries, a vinegar based cole slaw, and a nice biscuit with a home-made honey-butter that made it taste really good. The chicken is hand-breaded for each order. The cole slaw is made fresh. The fries are made fresh. The honey butter is made fresh. FRESH. I know, what an odd concept in fast food where they mostly take pre-made stuff out of the freezer and put it into the fryer. This is real fried chicken. The sizes of the bird pieces are average (not Wal-Mart "average" which isn't average, but REAL chicken average), and were more than enough to make sure we weren't hungry afterwards. Some tips: 1. Turn the corner if headed eastbound, and park in the lot east of Lothson's. 2. The hours are the hours. This is a one woman shop, and they open for Dinner at 4:30 pm with the LAST ORDER taken at 7:00 pm. 3. Get there a few minutes ahead of schedule to pick up your order. 4. To avoid waiting too much, call in your order if you can. For "to go" dishes on a cold night like this was, the owner put a plate on top and napkins in the bag, and then stapled the bag shut. 30 minutes later after driving in my car home, the chicken and fries were still nice and hot. You want it hotter, put them in a cooler with no ice to better trap the heat. If you are local, you won't need to do this.

It's clear, and they love chicken. I mean they REALLY love Chicken! First off, they are FAST. They were very busy - almost every table filled and they kept filling after people left. After we placed our order, our chicken (two Baby Bird meals) came out HOT and FRESH within around 7 minutes. With my appetite, the Baby Bird is the right size, and I have a big appetite for their chicken. Service was great as well - our drinks were checked, and the server was very pleasant. TOYS, as a theme catches your eye and your fancy, and provides a sense of comfort, really. If you're of a certain age, you HAD some of these pieces when you were a kid. I certainly did. But what links Toys, Bourbon and BBQ, I have no idea. Perhaps if you hit some fine pre-prandial herb it might make sense. I can remember that state of mind from my hippie days, and I think I may be on to something. The Q here is superb, at prices that will make you clean your glasses to make sure you saw it correctly. The perfectly-seasoned rib rack is HUGE (see photo below), with the right amount (and right flavor) of smoke. The pulled pork and brisket is the same quality. The sauces taste home-made and if you like it HOT, the ghost-pepper variety will not disappoint. Someone in this kitchen knows what they are doing. There are a few miscues (not enough to put me off my feed, but I report it all nonetheless): The Slaw is a little underseasoned. Hit it with some salt and it's great. The vaunted "spicy potato salad" isn't exactly a "must-have", I'd stick with the regular "mustard-style" tater-salad. There's a pulled Chicken which I haven't tried yet, but there isn't a bone-in BBQ chix option. I'll bet they'd knock it out of the park if there was one. And then there's the bar. A heroic variety of Bourbons, and the guy who curates the collection (I think his name is Phil) really knows his stuff inside and out, even if he looks more like a farmhand than a Bourbon Sommelier. They also have a smashing selection of Irish Whiskies. Note Bene: Make sure you have a designated driver. Trust me. In and amongst the toys, all this great booze is offered for sale. They also have a variety of THC-infused beverages on the menu. With this excellent Q, the mind boggles. Plus...toys. As far as Circuses, the service is homey and efficient, with sports on the TV, and picnic tables as a seating choice. A fine feed indeed, and it doesn't do that bad of damage to your pocketbook. We've always wanted to find a place that was in the same league as the Q joints found in the South, and I think we hit on a winner here. Worth the drive, that's for sure. Epilogue: Here's the wicked pissah: For a while, South Moon was open not more than a mile from Stately Breakwind Manor, here in the far southwest Chicago Burbs; in a building that until recently never had a winner in it. Mainly a takeout place with limited counter seating,each meal is prepared fresh. Jerk Chicken,Curry Goat and Oxtails are just a few of their Jamaican dishes. We tried their Veggy Patty and Chicken Patty. Flakey crust loaded with flavor. I didn't care for the chicken patty as it was chicken curry which I'm not a big fan of..wish it would have been listed on the menu in a different way. Ordered a side of their spicey jerk sauce which added additional flavor ....bonus! Also had their Medium Jerk Chicken platter with sides of red beans and rice and sweet candied yams. I think these discrepancies could easily be fixed, and might prevent some confusion/disappointment among future customers.
