This is place is very expensive. They are highway robbers. This is not the way you make money. I ordered two beef samosas. The are very tiny samosas. I never saw those small samosas in my entire life. Price is $7.79 Plus other charges they charge. Going there is your choice. Please be careful when ordering. Let them show you the quantity and size. While working at Barbe High School. I decided to try this place while I was on a lunch break. I ordered the Gyro Mix $11.99 1/2 and 1/2 mixture of lamb and chicken gyro. My friends and I are south Asian, so we are very critical of South Asian food. Initially, we were concerned when there wasn't anyone dining in. That quickly changed. Almost 20 minutes, three or four parties filled the restaurant and we knew we were at a local favorite. The food was amazing! We ordered a dish of biriyani, the eggplant curry, butter chicken, chicken tandoori, the appetizer sampler, and some naans for the table. The food here is great! Husband ordered the lamb kabobs and they were unlike any we have had before. The flavor was very delicious and there was a seasoning we hadn't tasted before. I had the lunch buffet and it was loaded with different types of flavored chicken. My favorite was the butter chicken. I could have drank that sauce. The restaurant and buffet area was small and very clean, it smelt fresh and clean when we arrived. The seating was really nice and comfortable. The waiter was really informative and very nice. Great to see Indian option in lake Charles. We had the buffet during lunch. No chicken tikka masala but they do have butter chicken. Hard to tell the difference really. They had panner masala but the spice was not as good as the butter chicken. Buffet also had a couple non Indian items like hummus and baba ganoush. Buffet comes with naan bread which was super fluffy, more like pita. I loved the curry chickpeas! Price was high $15 for limited options on the buffet but food was delicious. While road tripping through Louisiana from Houston, TX, we decided to stop and grab a bite at Raja's before continuing onto NOLA. My family and I agreed that the food was pretty good- no too spicy and somewhat flavorful. Our favorites dishes were the Green Chicken Masala and Butter Chicken, paired with the delicious naan bread. Before leaving, we grabbed a cup of Chai to-go, which was a great way to end our meal. I'm in Lake Charles on deployment with FEMA. I'm here for three months, which gives me ample time to try all the different restaurants in this and surrounding areas. I haven't had a bad experience yet, but Raja's was so good, I had to leave a review. The food is amazing! It's probably the best Indian cuisine I've had since I responded to Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and ate at an Indian restaurant in Suffolk County, Long Island. Honestly, if I wasn't watching my weight and had more per diem, I'd eat from Raja's every day. The staff are exceptionally friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Thanks, Raja's! Great food if you're looking for a different kind of cuisine! It certainly isn't Cajun or Louisiana Southern but it's definitely good! The lamb dish is excellent! The eggplant and the okra dishes are great but very spicy which I like! They do have a buffet, I'm not sure about the hours but I have eaten the buffet and enjoyed the meal! As other yelpers have mentioned there was a layer of oil on top of both dishes. It made us feel like the sauce came out of a package. I really wanted paneer but it was discontinued on the menu. The waitress said she thought they might actually have some in the back so I ended up ordering paneer masala. My dish tasted sour and the paneer was the wrong consistency. I was able to eat most of my food. It wasn't rotten sour but almost like a lightly sour seasoning i guess. My husband got butter chicken. It was much better than mine, but still not to our liking. We love Indian food and have eaten it in many different states in the U.S. as well as internationally. We weren't familiar with any of the tastes that were displayed nor have we ever seen the type of rice they serve with the dishes. We are used to jeera rice or white rice but we have no clue what we were served. We will not go back. I made a mistake and took the photo from to far away but if u really zoom in you can see the oil on top of both dishes. This place was really busy with take out orders when we went. Worst "Indian" food I've EVER had. The chana masala (chole) we ordered came out looking a pale yellow and there was visible thick layer of OIL on the top. Color and oil were a turnoff but the taste was worse. The gravy had a sickly taste and smelled & tasted like meat (possibly because of using the same cooking pot for meat and non meat curries). We had driven out of our way to get here and it was the most disappointing (so called) "Indian" food I've had. They should just call it middle eastern and Pakistani cuisine so people who come looking for indian food don't go home confused, hungry and disappointed. I think the reviews are left by those unfamiliar with Indian cuisine, additionally its more of a mediterranean and pakistani cuisine place, many items on the menu are crossed off & unavailable. I wouldn't recommend the Chana masala or wheat naan/roti. We didn't want to order anything else because we were turned off by the taste and lost our appetite and couldn't get out fast enough. Chicken Tikka Boti was served sizzlng at the table. Disappointed that the underlying onions were burnt to a blackened charred unpleasant crisp. The chicken boti was very well spiced and cooked perfectly with a nice clean spicy edge. Accompanying rice was savory, but average. I will certainly be back. Very clean and very fresh food considering I'm at the lunch time buffet. Best time to go if you're like me and new to India cuisine, is at lunch so you can get a little taste of everything. I have been here several times and everything i have tried is really good. I really like their vegetable samosas, garlic naan, and butter chicken. I always get the mango lassi.... It complements the meal so well. The lunch buffet is great and convenient because you get to try a bit of everything if you don't know what you like. I've had Indian food in a lot of places across the country, and Raja's is among the best I've had. The food has the perfect amount of spice, and the Tabouli is a great side dish to cool the palate. And the naan was everything! I tried the garlic and the butter naan, and they are both really good. Other Indian restaurants I've been to don't serve garlic or butter naan.
