Traveling from Houston to New Orleans, Lake Charles makes a great stop for lunch. After a Google search, Buffi's looked like it had potential. Pretty easy to get to when traveling east on I-10. We found easy parking, Buffi's is at the corner of Broad & Bilbo Street. Great vibes right from the get go. There's a pretty mural on the side of the building, great photo op for those that are doing it for the 'Gram. The interior is cutely decorated, black and white checkered table cloths. It's self service at the counter. After looking over the menu, we decided on a small bowl of Shrimp & Corn Chowder along with a full size All American Peauxboy. I'm not a corn guy but my wife said the chowder was delicious. The Peauxboy was fantastic. If you would have told me the bread was baked an hour before I ate the sandwich, I would have believed you. This is a cute little place worth the short trip off I10. We all had the remoulade shrimp po-boys. The "reauxmoulade" sauce is made in-house and is delicious, I bought some to bring home to Texas. The bread was outstanding, warm and crunchy. The shrimp was done well, but we all agreed the sandwich would have been better served warm. We bought the caramel cookies which we shared and enjoyed. This was our first of many to come times at Buffi's Peauxboys! What a great experience, we walked in and were immediately greeted with a smile and what to expect. You walk up to the counter and order, there is a big bulletin board with the menu written on it or you can get a paper copy. Everything we ordered was so fresh and frankly Cajun done right! Found this little gem on yelp and it did not disappoint! it's in a more historic looking area of lake charles- super cute inside- casual which is exactly what we wanted on our road trip- local spot with delicious local food! Excellent southern hospitality to go with it!! Now let's talk food- we tried the reauxmeloude shrimp peauxboy with the sauce on the side which i think was perfect because it wasn't as messy so it's a nice option. We also split the cabbage soup and the shrimp chowder soup- the cabbage was the winner between the two- more flavor. We split the 12 inch sandwich which was so good that we probably could have eaten another one. The 4 kiddos split a 12 inch shrimp all american which was a good size for them. They do have a kids menu but we wanted them to experience the local food and they love shrimp. i was going to buy some cookies but found out they use spray butter/not real butter to make them so decided to pass. I wish they wouldn't use the styrofoam but i understand the practical part of it- however, paper cups would also work super well which would be my personal preference. in addition, i didn't see a baby changing table in the bathroom which would be helpful for many. Went here for lunch bass in yelp reviews and they didn't disappoint. They love boys were the best. We order shrimp remoulade and crawfish boil. Both were great. The crawfish had potatoes and corn like a boil on the bottom on the bread and the shrimp remoulade was delicious too with a drink a chips. This place does Cajun right! I hate when places claim to have Cajun dishes and they have no spice or flavor. You will find spice and flavor here! I really love the crawfish poboy and the kickin chicken poboy, both have good spice to them. Their cookies are also amazing. We ordered a Shrimp Remoulade Peaux Boy and expecting a small sandwich, we ordered a shrimp salad as well. Let me tell you, this was not a California sized sandwich, it was a monster. Fortunately they cut it in half so my wife and I could easily enjoy it. It was glorious in its flavor profile. We slammed down the sandwich and found ourselves too full to eat the salad. The salad turned into breakfast for us instead of what was offered at the hotel. The shrimp were seasoned with Creole spices. What a way to wake up. lol. The salad was also large, it had egg, tomato, cucumber and a lot of cheese as well as the shrimp. Very cute, little hole in the wall po boy shop. We were traveling back home, and were hungry as heck so we popped in. I got the shrimp remoulade and the hub got the boudin po boy. The shrimp was good. They were boiled instead of fried which was interesting. The remoulade was a liiiiiittle overpowering, but still great. My husbands reaction - "this is so f'n good". I found it on Yelp and thought the entire drive there that I'd be dining on an All American Peaux Boy but the minute my eyes saw the Crawfish Boil Potaeaux I fell hard. I had to have it and boy did I get one -it was HUGE! The potato had to be two pounds and topped with spicy boiled crawfish, corn, sour cream, chives, and a heaping helping of seafood sauce. I had the other half for lunch the next day. The Service The girls on staff were sweet and helpful explaining items as my party had questions. She checked on us for refills and brought boxes when she saw we were struggling. This place is incredible! It's so cute on the inside, and the employees are kind, helpful, and efficient. We loved our sandwiches. The rolls were super fresh and crispy on the outside without being tough, and they were PILED with shrimp. I loved the boiled shrimp po boy because it came with red potato inside and really dank zesty seafood sauce. Stop by at the recommendation of a friend. The restaurant is very cute and quaint. The tables were labeled with various streets which the staff were so helpful pronouncing for me lol. We got in right before the rush, so it was quiet. Our waitress was helpful with our menu decisions and the wait wasn't long at all. There were several groups that came and order takeaways. Peauxboys can be order as a six inch or footlong and look every bit worth it! I had the crawfish boil potateaux and ate every bit of it, skin and all! Just looking at the picture has me craving one. Stopped by on a road trip based on yelp reviews and were not disappointed! The staff were extremely thoughtful, the atmosphere charming, and the food spot on! After 2 bites of the cold shrimp remoulade poboy my 5 year old said, "I could definitely eat here again!" The 8 year old struggled with sharing the rich gumbo, bought for the car, with us. For us the extra effort to eat local, even on a 1000+ mile road trip, made the next hours of our journey so much nicer. read more

Nice staff and quaint/clean place and went for a poboy (usually go to Darrel's) and got the small shrimp with reauxmoulade. Sandwich was good and so was reauxmoulade but wasn't enough of either and bread was a little tough. Otherwise a few more shrimp and reauxmoulade would have trumped the bread and made the sandwich memorable. Missed it by that much and when i go back will ask for extra reauxmoulade and try with tomatoes! I would recommend and is conveniently off I-10 if traveling past Lake Charles. read more
