Waited in line for about 10 mins at the deli before some one came to help me. The girl acted like me ordering a sandwich was some inconvenience she even rolled her eyes at me when i ordered. I also ordered a cup for soup and she didnt even give me the correct lid for soup! If your out of the lids tell me not just hand me the wrong one. Im sorry, i work in customer service too. Get over yourself, help the customer with as much of a pleasant attitude as you can and send them on their way. Your getting paid to do this. read more

Update: A long time has passed since my last review and I've continued coming every two weeks, always attempting to figure out why other supermarkets have better and more efficient ways to handle similar customer lines. The same system is still in place. This week, it took me ten minutes to buy some cheese. There was only one other person ahead of me and he just wanted a sandwich. A woman who did not stand in line walked up to my side of the counter and was helped immediately, but ten minutes earlier I was sent to stand in line for 7 minutes at the sandwich end of the counter. This inconsistency and delay is what I described before. I could wait ten minutes if several people were ahead of me. And I could stand in line at the sandwich end if everyone was asked to do the same. read more

Variety!!! Variety!!! Variety!!!! I only want to review this place because I have recently developed an intolerance to dairy products and have found that Raley's has excellent alternatives for me and it is literally down the street from my house!! I have always been a dairy product fiend and my heart broke when I had to limit/stop eating dairy products. I was also skeptical of the soy, almond, rice alternatives. However I have been able to try many different products that have satisfied all of my dairy desires!! Raley's gets an A++++ for variety but loses one star because this location offers bags at a price. It is not expensive but I buy bags everytime I go then forget them at home. We shop here all the time and overall like this place. The produce is not as top notch as there reputation is but they always have what you need. You don't wait in line for very long and they always greet you with a positive attitude and a smile. We will definitely continue to shop here! read more

This is, by far, the best grocery store in the El Sobrante area. It has the best selection and the nicest employees. The natural foods section is really good too. When Raleys workers were on strike recently, I tried the new Safeway in El Cerrito (the one in the old Target store) and was really disappointed with the deli and bakery products. So glad to be back shopping at Raley's again. People say the prices are higher but I disagree--I think the quality is better at Raley's so you're getting more for the money. If I can buy a bad loaf of bakery bread from Safeway or buy a loaf of yummy, very fresh pugliese at Raley's that costs more, which is the better deal? I say Raley's. read more

Best place for deli sandwiches hands down (IMO). My regular order is low sodium turkey with bacon on soft roll with light mayonnaise and honey mustard and all the vegi options minus the olives. Everything is fresh and made in front of you to your order no matter how picky you may be. The deli clerks are awesome as well ,very polite and cheerful. read more

I love this place ! It's open until 11 which is later than a lot of grocery stores in the area . They carry some random , unique , interesting stuff that I don't find at other grocery stores . They also have a nice selection of fresh meats . Since the grocery store near my house in SF closed down , I was unable to find a certain canned good at any grocery store . However , I was able to find the particular canned product at Raley's ! I bought a very delicious loaf of garlic sourdough bread from here last time . The store is very neat and clean . The part I always hated the most about grocery shopping is putting the groceries onto the conveyer belt because it was always such a hassle . I don't have to worry about that here because the employees take the groceries out of your shopping cart for you and scan it . I will definately be back again to buy meat , more garlic bread , and to re-stock on the canned good product I love so much . read more

My neighborhood grocery store, seriously this place gets my 5 stars cause they are hella friendly, I don't know names of anybody, but you betcha, they will help you find what you need if not, they'll tell you they don't have it... And you know what's cool??? You can get your ribs dry rubbed for free by the butcher during BBQ season.... And their discounts on food are already in the system, you don't have to punch in your number or slide a card like Lucky's. .... I'm a meat man too, so let me tell you, their ribs and steak are fresh, at least from the Red I see, unless they use food coloring, hahahaa. But check it out if you're in the neighborhood, feels like you're in a quality grocery store. My only gripe is they don't open 24 hours, when I come home from work at 4 in the morning, but it's all good. Raley's needs to train their deli workers better. If you're doing a job that requires weighing out portions, then you need to understand fractions of a pounds, decimals and ounces. I hate going to this deli because I don't know what to say to get them to understand what I want. They think a third of a pound is 0.3 pounds. If I ask for 0.4 pounds they say "quarter pound". The scale by the cutters weighs things out in ounces so that that confuses them more. I asked for 0.4 pounds. I got 0.6 pounds. How does that even happen? read more

I love their rewards program, love the friendly staff, love the clearance bins in the back, love the bulk bins, and love the natural foods section. I find their prices for produce to be a little high and they don't have a great butcher or meat counter so I stopped coming here. It used to be one of several stops I'd make until I discovered El Cerrito Natural Grocery Store. That's my new one-stop shop and although it's further away from home, it's worth the drive. read more

Nice grocery store, even nicer since the remodel. The staff are fantastic, so nice and helpful! The prices are not so nice...they run significantly higher than other nearby grocery stores. I've also been less than impressed with the fact that since they've installed the self-checkout there is always a line at least 3 people long for all of their normal check stands. They have a good variety of hard to find items, like gluten free foods. They produce section however always seems to be lacking however it could be that I'm just not inspired by the set up. read more

For a mainstream market it's a really great option. However, reading some of the reviews of folks living in the Berkeley/Oakland area, goodness, why shop anywhere else but Berkeley Bowl? I just moved farther out and I still shop at the Bowl... Raley's, however is a good option for something closer and I do shop there for certain items. Much better atmosphere than Lucky's or Safeway, and better quality. Clean, and the produce isn't next to the meat department. Really appreciate the Health Food isles, too. read more

Worst customer service I've ever encountered. I would rate this negative 1 if that were possible. They offered a sale price and then refused to honor it because the manager who offered it had gone home. The other manager I spoke to who refused to honor the offer was very rude and, although I politely asked him to write down the store phone # twice, he wouldn't. (He didn't say "No, I won't", he just wouldn't do it) When I spoke to the manager who made the sale sign, she was sullen, defensive and unhelpful. The store manager I wrote to clearly didn't see any problem with his employees and defended them, although he offered to meet the sale price. However, it's not all about money. I didn't get the impression he understood that or was concerned about customer service. Now, for really good customer service, there's the Natural Grocery Store in El Cerrito. Overall shopping experience is great, excellent meat department, great produce, good selection, especially on wine. I shope here regularly. The only reason for not giving them 5 stars are a) sometimes the price level is pretty high (they did reduce their prices quite a bit over the last years, though) and b) that some of the cashiers/ check out personnel are not very friendly and if they make a mistake don't even apologize (but go to Safeway or Lucky's and it is much worse). Four times there was no answer at 10AM. the one time someone answered, they did not speak English well enough to understand "meat department."
