Update 10/2010.... Much better... the shopping center is filling in with shops which, as predicted, has forced homeless stoners to find another parking lot to fire up in. This place has become our number 1 destination when it's time to restock the kitchen. Look for the $10 off $50 or more coupons...they are frequently available and cluch when you are feeding a family. _____________________________________________________ So here is my gripe with this place: Why do I always wind up parked next to stoners in the parking lot here???? I am sure it has to do in part that I park on the less crowded side of the lot...plenty of space for me to manipulate a stroller or shopping cart while working with up to three kids in tow... I have three kids, so when I go get groceries, I am bound to have at least one of them with me. Every time I pull into or out of this place, I wind up parked next to a couple of kids or most recently a couple of fat housewife types blazing it up in the parking lot. Yes, there is a Peet's coffee here and Peet's is way better than any starbucks I have seen in Tracy. Yes they have great meat and organic produce (at reasonable prices). Yes, they have super-friendly staff. But they also seem to have a problem with potheads in the parking lot. Smoking weed is a personal choice, and I do not necessarily think it is all bad. But it is illegal and if you are too ashamed to smoke it at your home around your family, please do not subject me and my family to your problems or issues. I am not a DARE officer, but c'mon now! Go smoke it in your garage or back yard like all the other hardworking-self-respecting Tracy folk that make the choice to partake. I don't want to field the questions from my kids about what you are doing and why it smells like you are burning a skunk next to our car. Yeah, I am talking about you two kids in the beat up white '90 (or '88 or '89 or whatever it is) POS mustang last week. Yeah, I am talking about you two heifer housewives in the tan Lexus SUV with the "Tommy's Mom" sticker in the rear window. Get your shit together! Raley's, you could be such a great store and I looked forward to your opening, so close to my house...Now I avoid you whenever I have my kids with me (which is about 95% of the time). It's all about those first impressions, and your parking lot is where you make yours. So while you are out there fetching carts at 9:00 AM do a once over of everything else going on out there...It is your business if it is your place of business. read more

Clean, well-stocked, great sales, responsive & friendly staff... The Raley's at S. Tracy Blvd. & W. Valpico Road is vastly superior to the local Safeways, SaveMarts, and such. This is a very large store and well laid out. There is a wonderful selection generally and the meat and produce sections are well managed. The deli is a stand out! My wife, the non-vegetarian in our household, tried a rotisserie chicken dinner. Wow! About ten dollars for a whole chicken, two side orders, and rolls. The chicken dinner was enough to provide three lunches and everything was delicious. Really, it tasted like food that we might have cooked at home. Prices for non-sale items are what you'd expect from a chain retail grocery store. But, at this Raley's you really DO get your money's worth. This store is highly recommended. read more

Raley's is one of America's Top 10 supermarkets, says Consumer Reports, with special mentions for "fresh" (top in nation!), cleanliness and friendly staff. If you shop the sales and store brands, Raley's is not so expensive. Their goal is to be 1 percent less than Safeway. I suspect that is true overall. I was one of the first people in the store when it opened and consider many of the staff to be good friends. Raley's is a hugs-and-handshakes place that also happens to have wonderful produce (Hi Mark and Gareth!) great baked goods (Elizabeth!) very good deli (Bridget!) and is very well managed by TPD VIP Dave. Heather does the flowers. I can't list all the names here, but should mention Junior, one of the managers. Yes, I do purchase some items at Costco (hugs and handshakes there, too) and buy pet food at Winco (another store I like). Used to shop at SaveMart but they aren't exceptionally cheap and their stores look trashed. Raley's and Costco are my two favorite places to shop. read more

God forbid if you do not bring extra bags and have already checked out the Company will charge you for a 10 cent fee for a bag. Granted it may be a California State Law to charge, but after frantically checking my purse I did Not! I did not want to stand in the crowded line to use again my debit card. Which I get 2 of their employees were following the rules to charge according to State Law. My issue is that as a consumer whatever happened to courtesy? It cost more for the company for Raley's to have me run my debit card back through their reader, than it would if the cashier would of handed me an extra bag. It was humiliating to search for that dime in my purse! Another time I was standing in front of the glass meat section and the older man worker asked me t get out of the way so he could do his job and get out of there. WOW! Had enough of that! This place is so far from my house.. I try to make it here for small groceries because the organic selection is amazing. Probably the largest in town you can get. We were excited to have Raley's. We loved the sparkle, lighting and the high-end products it has to offer. We still do! The catch: it is pricey if you are not careful! We get confused on where the grocery items are placed. sometimes it doesn't make sense. The isles are are an angle and I am constantly having near-misses with my cart. Love the bread, Peet's Coffee, high quality meats and produce. they have fabulous organic selection! I spend a lot more money here if I buy everything on my list. I have to be careful. I will always be their customer, but only for staples, speciality goods, and hard-to-find items. read more

WORST BAKERY EVER! My brother had ordered and prepaid for my cake yesterday in hopes that it would be ready on time today for my birthday and guess what happened. Not only did they not make the cake but also had no record of it ever being taken as a order. We had explained to them that we prepaid it and ordered it yesterday but they had no record of it so we had to drive all the way home to get the recipe to prove to them we had ordered the cake, which was incredibly humiliating. In the end I got a terrible excuse for a cake that they put together in two minutes, which was also FROZEN. My birthday was ruined. I hope you all learn from my mistake and NEVER order a cake from their bakery. This is unacceptable and unexcusable. read more

Most Unsanitary store! I went in to buy a few groceries during covid-19 and all employees working Were not wearing gloves or a masks. Some were coughing in their hands and touching customers groceries. I had to say something! So i asked the girl at the register why they aren't wearing gloves and that it's not safe for her or customers and that's spreading germs and the girl behind her that was ringing another customer up (employee, possibly a manager) turned around and said "well that cart you are pushing is lots germs." WRONG ANSWER!! I was wearing gloves and a mask! Isn't she supposed to sanitize the carts for the customers?! Instead of couching in her hand and touching customers groceries?! People are dying!! Take things seriously! Costco Sanitizes their carts and sprays them! I seen them do it! They even sanitize the belts at the registers between each customer before ringing them up! A bit overpriced for sure, but the atmosphere, cleanliness, and friendly staff make this one of my favorite places to shop. Come here for weird, hard to find sodas, a million different kinds of drinks, a solid bakery, and other weird foods you won't find anywhere else in town. Bonus find: when the produce gets misted, a thunder sound crackles over some speakers, giving the impression of a storm. It's especially fun in the winter. read more

This store is really close to where I live, but I will only go here if I need to grab a couple of things, or if I need something Savemart doesn't carry. (Which isn't too much) The prices are much higher than SaveMart. For example coffee for my keurig at Raleys last time I checked was almost $12. I can get the same brand at Savemart for about $8. Besides the prices that majority of the supervisory staff I have encountered are rude. The cashiers are usually nice, but everytime I see a supervisor they look like they hate the world! read more

I am very pleased with this store as it has kept me from driving over the hill to Trader Joes. The staff has been super friendly and very understanding when it comes to not getting the right number off of the bulk bins. I would have the say the customer service is way beyond Savemart or Safeway and they aren't prudent about taking my green bags from other stores to bag my groceries. The deli people are so friendly and practically offer to feed you a whole meal in samples. The experiance of the store is great and fun to walk around. I used to love Raley's! There are 3 other grocery stores within a mile of me and I would still drive further across town just to shop here. Unfortunately as of late I have been experiencing poor customer service, specifically with the less than helpful, feel like your inconveniencing them, meat department. I give 2 stars because I do love their organic and natural product selection. I also do get some good deals and sales here time to time. It doesn't matter how fancy your store looks if the service isn't there. I'm sure I'll be back for specific sales but for now I'll take my weekly shopping somewhere where I feel appreciated instead of like an inconvenience. read more

After searching and pricing around bakery's for my birthday cake, I finally decided $150-200 is not worth it. When I went to Raley's and spoke to one of the bakers, Michelle Matos, and showed her pics of what I wanted, she was so patient and ensured me she can get the look and taste I was hoping for! Boy, she did not disappoint! It was actually better than I expected and the cake was so fresh and tasty...in fact, we had leftovers and the cake tasted fresh after a week! Usally, I have a 3-4 star experience with eCart service. Tonight, thanksgiving eve, I am very disappointed. Placed order online at 6, with an 8:30 pick up time. Arrived, no communication through eCart callbox, called store, after about ten minutes was on my way in and clerk came out to say the order was not pulled due to staff miscommunication. So order was going to be another 30 minutes. Went inside and pulled my own order in 15 minutes while seeing clerk take her time. This is a mistake that should never have happened. When I lived in Fremont I used to shop Raley's all of the time....Eleven years later, a Raley's is built here in Tracy...As you enter the store, you are greeted by various aromas...all very pleasant! The Fried Chicken is more of a Asian style, but extremely tasty and juicy. The deli has a wide variety of meats, cheeses, soups and sandwiches ( Love the Clam Chowder) and cold salads, etc. What I like most is that your are invited by the associates to sample the food! So far what I've experienced, all of the employees are extremely friendly and helpful! read more

Raley's is a nicer chain and this location is clean and well stocked. I would never buy produce or dairy here b/c it's overpriced and can be bought much cheaper at my favorite farm stand or other grocery stores. I have purchased meat and alcohol here when the price is right. I like their rewards card b/c they will sometimes send you free offers. I've been shopping here since I moved into town in January and I have always had great experiences with the staff as well as the quality of produce and meats. They are always friendly and knowledgeable when I have questions. The store layout can be a bit confusing and doesn't seem to flow well but if that's my biggest complaint then I'm happy. The prices seem to be right in line with other markets and in a lot of cases much cheaper and all without some ridiculous card that tracks your information and spending habits. The Deli is first rate and as good as any sandwich shop in town and a much better value for the dollar. The meats and breads are always fresh and they don't skimp on meat like a lot of other delis do. I began shopping here for the convenience since it's so close to home but I continue to shop here for the quality and friendly staff. read more
