I've been coming here for as long as I can remember and they've made so many strides in improving their store throughout the years. They've upgraded their store with a Wells Fargo bank, Starbucks stand, and an improved store set up. I've also noticed they improved their pricing over the years as they usually had one of the more higher price points on their items, but they're a lot more competitive with prices now. I do recognize a lot of the staff has been here for a couple of years now so the store does take more of a family vibe. Most of them are pretty friendly but there are a few you could tell could care less about their job. But overall, everyone is pretty nice. Overall, not the best Ralphs I've been to, but they keep improving so I will definitely frequent this place. read more

Haha, there are only 2 other reviews on here. Looks like people in the hood don't really want to yelp about the only retail supermarket located in the paradise hills/south bay terraces area. This place has the basic stuff for eats. Nothing special. But their fried or roast chicken meal deal is off the hook. you get chicken, 2 sides and bread for like either 9.99 or 7.99. either way it is ridiculously cheap and feed a family of 4. I wish they had more variety of produce and more gourmet items but maybe they dont think it will be a hit in this location. I gave this place 4 stars because it's local, I've been shopping here since I was born and it was a Safeway and hmmm I guess I'm just supporting the only grocery store in my neighborHOOD. read more

I really felt like l was discriminated against in your store this morning I attempted to purchase 3 items in the self check out lane and was advise by the Hispanic cashier that I could not use self check out because I was purchasing triple sec and it has alcohol in it and you can't do self check to purchase alcohol, fine so I go over to a regular line that has a total of six customers, waiting patiently along with everyone else and the Hispanic cashiers comes over and get the customers right in front of me (Hispanic man) purchasing a 12 pack of old English beer and takes him over to the self check out and checks him right out. So you tell is your company policy no alcohol can be purchase in the self check out lane, or can your cashier pick and choose who they want to check out in that lane. That is so not right or fair. After getting to my car I realized what had happen. During these time with so much racial injustice, we have all got to do better as human beings. My feelings were hurt, I no longer believe that people are unaware of there biased behavior and it is intentional. Not a happy customer. read more

I was at Alta Views Ralphs today, I went in to get a few things for dinner. I went to the 15 items or less" lane, in front of me was a person with a full cart of groceries, whom they let check out there. The individual had problems with her checkout. After several minutes of waiting, I went to another lane to get my things. When I complained to the Manager she said "We don't stop people from using that lane for any reason", evidently they don't bring up a new lane to help the ones obeying the rules either. I doubt I will be returning if I want to "just grab" some things to make dinner with, as it can take an hour to checkout (took almost 40 minutes because of the problems and then waiting in another line). read more

Ralphs in Paradise Hills on Alta View is using the orders from the Governor to create another revenue stream. The Governor has said we can no longer use our own bags to carry our groceries. Ralphs has taken this to mean they can SELL you their bags. Other grocery stores give theirs away because of this order from Sacremento. As far as I'm concerned they can keep their bags. I'll go elsewhere. read more

I EFFING HATE THIS RALPHS! Okay. This is the closest grocery store to my house, but it's a clusterfuck starting at the parking lot. Idiots decide they want a front parking spot so they just stop and back up traffic all the way out onto Alta View. Genius. And even once you get deeper into the lot, parking is NOT *plentiful*. Then you get to make it across the parking lot to the front door without getting run over. More idiots, good luck. If you make it to the curb in front of the store, you now have another set of obstacles -- 1) the guy trying to sell "discounted cigarettes," the guy asking for change, and the long line of people trying to return/borrow redbox DVDs which is blocking the entrance to Ralphs. Once you make it past all that, and you're inside, you realize -- dammit, you were so focused on getting through the obstacle course that you didn't get a cart. So now you must decide -- venture back out for a cart? Or make do with a hand basket and hope you can dig deep into that upper body strength... Once inside, you have a couple shady suspects attempting to shoplift liquor and groceries -- that's always exciting to witness (not really!) and cashiers and baggers that aren't so nice/courteous/professional, but hey -- hopefully you got what you were looking for. Tip -- the chocolate covered macadamia nuts don't sell much. Be prepared to wipe giant dust bunnies off the package if you decide to purchase some. And I hope you're able to make it back to your car... WHY they thought adding a Starbucks was a good idea, I'll never know. Just go to Albertsons in Spring Valley. Is it a whole lot better? No. But is it a little better? Yes. And they have a pharmacy! And a drive-thru Starbucks in the parking lot! read more

I usually go to this place because it's very close to my house. While it has the same products as any other Ralph's or other grocery stores, I feel that this place have the friendliest people. Always clean, veggies and fruits are always fresh. Staff is friendly and super helpful. Never had a bad experience here. I just wish they didn't allow people to sit outside of the store and bother you... except for the Girl Scouts. They're always welcome for cookie season! read more

I used to frequent the National City Ralph's since it was the closest location to me. Unfortunately it has changed to yet another Hispanic grocery store. I have to now travel out of the way to the Alta View location. It is an improvement from the National City store but not by much. The produce area is better and has an actual butcher. I have to say that the staff are always friendly and are sure to greet me with a smile. I have no firm opinion other then to say that I prefer the Bonita Vons due to the better selection of products. I give the store 3 stars overall. read more

This is the closest grocery store to my house. I usually go here when parents forget to buy something at Commissary or Costco. They have the basics. If I can't find what I need from here, I have to go to Albertson's in Sweetwater or go to Von's in Bonita. What else can I say? It's just convenient. read more

Been going to this store for 16 years but tonight is a hell of an experience. Got a $9 REWARDS card.....wow! Bought 3 boxes of soda suppose to be $1.99 per box so I got 3 boxes and a pack toilet paper $3.99 but when I got to the cashier, I was told I have to buy 5 boxes soda for it to be $1.99 so I got 5. After all my total was done minus my $9 I still have to pay $9 because she said it would have been $40. How can be 4 boxes of soda be $40? Then the cashier her name is CELIA, a large set Hispanic lady was very aggitated and started banging the boxes of sodas and as well as snapping at me. Being used to dealing with difficult patients, I calmed her down by saying, that she didn't have to get mad and its gonna be okay. Apparently, the REWARDS coupon that she scanned didn't cancell, she was getting increasingly aggitated and called the Manager Mary. The Manager herself sounded irrated and stressed and said something like "come back to the store, you don't know who am I". Well i didn't understand what actually she meant by that but she sure sounded very hostile. Oh well, I left the store very humiliated and most of all confused. Very poor customer service. Very big deal to cancell a purchase. I can imagine what happens when this people has to face real life crisis. Maybe they just had a long exhausting day and have to take it out on a customer like me. Oh well, I went to 7/11, got my soda and just enjoyed it afterall. read more

After they closed the Ralphs by my house I was glad to see that most of the staff was moved over to this store. The are friendly and always remember that my wife has an OCD issue. She HAS to bag our groceries. So whenever we hit the register the bagger recognizes us and simply walks away. LOVE IT!!! read more

I go to this Ralphs since it is just across the street from my condo, very convenient and clean grocery store. I will continue to be a customer here out of sheer conveniance, its quite a difference from the La Jolla Ralphs that I had become used to. I'm writing this review because last Sunday I went to the store around 9am to grab a few items to make a fun Sunday breakfast and was appalled at the service and level of professionalism. I work in customer service and know how easy it is to keep a smile on your face and your topics of conversation suitable for customers ears. Never is it acceptable for me to stand at the checkout line with no one in front of me and to hear several cashiers complaining about the new schedule that has come out, then without a greeting the cashier started scanning my items and with no care at all tossing or quickly shoving them down to the bagger (I HAD EGGS FOR GOODNESS SAKES!!) then for her to mumble and ask for my ID for the champagne that I had bought without making eye contact. If I read her name tag correctly it was Sooka or Souka something along those lines, keep in mind her and her fellow cashiers are still complaining about the schedule that just came out and that a girl should talk to the manager because it seems like he is "deliberately" screwing her over. I will still come here as I mentioned out of conveniance when I need a quick carton of milk but I will be shopping at the La Jolla Ralphs even though 25 minutes from my home but close to work and a much better facility as far as produce and customer service. read more

Me and my Husband always go here, he used to work here 7+ years ago, and its closer to our house to (not walking distance). Everyone is friendly and nice. The only thing I don't like is they don't do price match. Enfamil ready to drink is very expensive here same price at CVS. Target and WalMart is only $5.99 here is $7.49 and I ask the cashier when were about to pay if they do price match and he said to me NO. read more

I only like going to this Raiphs because the checkout is really fast. Every time I had gone I never really seen a line form. The cashiers are friendly too. They try to ask open ended questions which is good on building customer relations. The store is kept clean and stocked well too. This store closes at midnight which is good for the late night person, plus it's not busy at all. It really doesn't get crowded there. I'm always in and out fast. The parking can be hell though. It shares a lot with the whole plaza there. So it can be abit tight there. There is a on site recycling on the corner of the lot, I think the employees park on that side. It's a small parking lot basically. The prices in that store are on the higher side by like a dollar or two but it's right off the 54 freeway exit. Being the only Grocery Store in the neighborhood of Paradise Hills, a lot of locals come to shop here. It's just better a lot of times then taking a drive to the sister store Food 4 Less or even Walmart. Ralphs does carry house hold stuff and I have gotten things here before. Maybe abit more in price by 50 cents to a dollar more. The restrooms can be scary. They are in the back through their warehouse doors. I never go use them any more it just feels weird being back there. Overall the Ralphs is just in a nice spot with a gas station near by in the same lot. Not many Ralphs stores around now a days but it just like any other Ralphs. read more

On Monday I went running to Ralph's located on Woodman & Alta View to buy some food when I saw an ad that said $10.99 for 12pack Sella Artois so sounded like a good deal. Since I was in a hurry, I forgot to read the fine print. I should have known better as Ralphs is known for their misleading advertising taking advantage of customers. Why isn't the number of items that are required to buy to get the deal big and bold like the price??? Again deceiving!!! Anyway, I went back today at 9:00ish pm to return it. The cashier said I couldn't return it as it's their policy regarding liquor. She was nice. However, I asked to speak to the supervisor. The cashier calls the supervisor who is some Mexican lady but at 1st sup didn't want to come deal with me but the cashier told the sup for her to come and explain it to me. Finally sup comes and with her unfriendly bitchy face she says I cannot return the liquor. Why do you work in a field where customer service skills is essential? More than not being able to return the item, I was offended by this supervisor's attitude. If you don't have the patience or don't like dealing with ppl well then find yourself another job. She could at least have offered to let me buy the extra missing item so I would get the deal. But of course not. She was more worried about "winning". I asked to talk to the manager but she said wasn't there to call tomorrow. Really bad service!!!!!! Ralphs you should be embarrassed for overcharging and stealing from customers with your misleading and deceiving advertisement. read more

I have shopped at the Alta View Ralphs for 20 years! However, after the treatment I received this last evening, I may never shop there again!! When I walked in the door a person, Marisol, said that they would be closing in 10 minutes. I usually do not shop late in the evening on Sunday and was unaware that they close on Sundays at 11:00pm. I proceeded to quickly get the few items I needed. While I was shopping the woman I believe to be Marisol, was on the loud speaker saying that they were closing and to bring items to the check out. I went to the back of the store to get some milk and the young man who worked back there said they were closing. I told him I was well aware of this and was heading promptly to the front to check out. While I was walking to the checkout, again on the loudspeaker she was saying, "Will the customer in aisle 6 please come to the checkout". When I arrived at the checkout, there she was!! Another gentleman ahead of me was checking out. Marisol informed me that it was 2 minutes after 11:00pm and that they were closed! I reminded her that she said I had 10 minutes to get my few items. The behavior of the people who worked there was rude and certainly not in line with good customer relations. Their behavior was unfriendly, embarrassing and rude!! Treating customers in this manner will certainly drive shoppers and me away. Today I will call Ralphs at the corporate level and the local store manager to share this situation with them.
