We needed to check in early due to an event we were attending. The person on staff was very helpful in accommodating us needing to do this. Basically the cordiality of the staff gave this hotel a star it wouldn't have had otherwise. The pool was unable to be used by anyone other than the 3 male tweens that were out of control. The rules are "responsible adult supervision", there were nearly 15 adults with them and none, NOT ONE, was supervising these out of control children. Other small children, adults, all ages, tried to use pool, but were these out of control children swamped the whole pool area, diving, doing cannonballs (DIRECTLY next to others of any age), and no staff did anything either because of the staff shortage, they didn't have coverage for front and inside. Pool WAS supposed to be part of staying, but only those 3 got to enjoy it since they treated it like one they snuck into with no adults around. Other people asked them to stop, buy the adults with them told them to ignore these requests. When pool closed these children played football, yes with a regular football, not even a nerf one, using the ENTIRE courtyard making it unusable to anyone else. Again no staff did anything. The $10 breakfast was the same as a complimentary one elsewhere. Difference here was we couldn't find anyone to give us the plate. None were out, had to be given them by an attendant and no one was to be found. Every single, EVERY SINGLE, mug, glass, cup, -anything that you were given with drink in it or to drink from- had residue or was still dirty. While mechanical dishwashers break or get clogged, the question is, why were they put out dirty? Why weren't they checked? The room had been cleaned, however a long span of time had obviously elapsed. There was black mold growing in the toilet from water sitting stagnant, there was other mold in bathroom, most of room had dust from lack of use or a 'ready for use again' quick cleaning. We brought allergy medications just in case and they were an absolute necessity. While the staff was nice, very helpful (once you found them), would not be going back unless they can get some more staff to help these actual hard working, short-staffed run ragged ones. Again, if it wasn't for them would be a 2 star review.

This hotel was nice. Very affordable and in the perfect location to visit IUP. It's older and some things need to be updated, but it was clean, comfortable and quiet. I would stay again.

    Broken lamp shades

Absolutely disgusting! I don't even know where to begin- the floors and curtains were stained, broken lamp shades, ketchup (we think) all over the wall and ironing board, refrigerators were iced over, coffee grounds on the floor, peeled wallpaper, turned the heat on and it smelled like cigarettes, and more. We reserved the room for two nights, but only stayed one. I have no idea where the remodeled rooms are in this hotel that they advertise in their pictures! Guests beware!

Not sure yet about restaurant and bar....However, the room is terrible. Ripped and burned lamp shades, broken drapes, carpet off wall, cobwebs on ceiling. Very disappointed

I was Very pleased with my choice, The Heritage House Suites! It was affordable for one night, close and very charming. The Master's Suite: 15 foot ceilings, large windows that had shutters for privacy ( which I Loved personally), beautiful hardwood floors, large square deep bath/shower, full kitchen with microwave, fridge, oven stove, coffee maker, dishes & silverware, two extra large wine glasses for the wine I brought along. The suite was quiet and very cozy. They offer free wifi, and free parking. They have a Beautiful wraparound porch to sit on during the afternoon or early evening but we didn't get a chance to enjoy, will the next visit !! We will definitely stay again as well as Highly recommend to family and friends... The only think I would suggest to management would be more of a cable or TV package, viewing was limited and nothing to watch. They offer a DVD player to watch a movie but we didn't bring any and the suites didn't offer any collection. ( bring your own movies ) Tracey was Wonderful !! Thank you for your help and patience on our arrival

Sure, I could have stayed at a cookie-cutter chain hotel in this university town, but for just a few dollars more, I rented the Master's Suite, literally half of the second floor of this beautiful Victorian mansion, which came equipped with a huge sitting room, a full (private) bath, and a complete kitchen. The kitchen was the selling point for me when booking the room, since I'm on a strict diet and need to be able to cook fresh food (rather than rely on fast-food and takeout). To be clear, this is NOT a bed and breakfast. There are no common areas in the house, and the innkeepers do not provide meals. It's really more of a furnished rental, available for short and long-term stays in Indiana. Pros: Comfortable bed and sitting room furniture, full kitchen, WiFi, cable TV service, full bath, complimentary bottled water and snack basket, off-street parking, walking distance to restaurants and shops. Plus the staff is very friendly and helpful and their pre-arrival communications (confirmation emails) are excellent. Cons: Neither of these should reflect poorly on the innkeepers or Heritage House. But I have to mention them: 1. Noise. Bring your earplugs (I always travel with mine) because 6th Street is apparently a major artery and every pickup truck with a bad muffler in Indiana County must drive past the house between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. 2. Street construction. Indiana is tearing up a bunch of streets, including School Street, which requires the roads crew to barricade the street to any motor traffic. Unfortunately, Heritage House's private parking lot is accessed via School Street, so it's impossible to get to the Inn between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. According to Becki (who clued me to the secret of taking the alley halfway down School Street to escape the lot during the day), this construction has been going on for months, so be aware you may need to delay your arrival until after 5 or sundown, whichever comes firts. Bottom-line, this was a wonderful stay and I would heartily recommend Heritage House Inn and Suites to anyone looking for a comfortable, private alternative to the Comfort Inn.

I went down to breakfast and she couldn't have been any nicer, she checked on folks constantly. When she wasn't filling the food options she was walking around constantly cleaning. She was the only shining star here. On to the room. My wife had the digital key so I asked for a physical key. I got my key and tried to go into the room to change clothes. Guess what, the key didn't work. So down to the front desk I go. The young man working was friendly but it made me laugh when I said the key didn't work and he said I'm not surprised, making me think this is a regular issue. He tried a new key and it actually worked. The room was older with well worn furniture. The room was not very clean despite us just checking in. There were stain on the walls and drapes. The night stand beside the bed was so filthy it was disgusting. My wife went to get a wash cloth to clean it and the washcloth was so gross from wiping the stand. The bathroom door wouldn't stay shut, I had to prop my toiletry bag against it to keep it from opening up completely. It was weird, the door seemed to rub on the floor when you opened it but then when you tried to close it wouldn't latch. On to the shower, it was gross. There were cracks in the tile that had black mold and mildew in it. There were dark spots in the grout lines. The bathroom also smelled bad. We seemed to have an extremely loud mini fridge that constantly turned on throughout the night. My wife travels extensively for work and said this was one of the worst hotels she's experienced in a quite a long time. We originally tried to book the Hilton but it was full so we had to end up here. If given the choice, stay somewhere else.

I even found myself wondering down to the pool and hot tub to enjoy some relaxation time. What's not to like? Well, unfortunately I was greeted in my room by that annoying yellow tissue... you know the one that signals the box is almost empty. Yet, there was no replacement box to be found. Ok, how about TP? No replacement roll with less than half remaining on the primary. And while the room appeared very clean, I found a foreign hair in the bath tub... a pretty damn long hair! That left me wondering how clean everything really was. While they issues were corrected the next day, they should have never been raised in the first place. The Hampton Inn might not be Hilton's flagship brand, still I expected better and could have stayed else where for less...

The lobby was dark despite having a huge chandelier. The ladies at the check in desk kept apologizing. I wasn't in a hurry put my husband had to leave to go to a meeting. He left and I stayed until the computer started working and I could get checked in. My room was at the complete other end of the hotel. I finally was getting close to my room and I saw a hotel employee walking down the hallway spraying the carpet. I figured out it was similar to Febreeze. The hallways smelled musty so the spray was needed and appreciated. The room was a bit small. The lamp in the sitting section wasn't working. Paint was peeling in the bathroom. Then I found out that the hotel had NO KING SIZED BEDS! I threw on my swimsuit and made my way to the pool. It was because of how nice the pool area was that I have two stars. I stayed there for several hours. When I went back in I walked down the hall to the vending machine to get a soda. It smelled like sour milk. UGH!! Later I went down a stair case to let my husband in since he didn't have a key and the hallway smelled like cat urine. There was t a DO NOT DISTURB plaquard for our door but thankfully we were awake before they knocked to clean the room. It seems as though the rooms have had a mini makeover. Now the hallways need one. New carpet and brighter lighting would make a difference.

First off it wasn't a queen bed, not a full bed but only a double and a single bed. We unloaded our stuff and when my daughter went to the bathroom to take a shower there was no hot water. I got the manager which also was one of the owners and they are from India. When I told him there was no hot water he did not believe me until he saw himself. He said he would be back , 20 minutes pass by and I just put my coat on and walked to the office and saw him on the telephone talking to someone. Here I found out he called the previous owner since they only owned it for one month. He decided to put us into room number 8 which was the night from hell!!! First off the bathroom did have hot water but when you turn the shower on it felt like the water was coming out so hard it would take your skin off. Next went to the bathroom and I looked to turn the heat on and all the guts from inside the heater were not there. Now just remember what all this is going on the temperature is -6 degrees and that's cold as hell. So then the heater unit is built in the air conditioning and it was sent on a 80 degrees. The heat would come on for 12 minutes, then cool air would come in so I decided to turn it up to 82 degrees and still feel cold air was coming in so I turned it off for 5 minutes. I turned it back on and heat was coming out for only 12 more minutes so I turned it off again. I turned it back on and turned it up to 86 degrees which is the highest it would go. Heat only came out for 12 more minutes and then cold air again. I went to the front door and there was a mass of cold air coming in from around the door. This was the worst night sleep I had because I kept waking up cold and had to turn the heater on and off, on and off which to me was uncalled for. The next day. I complain to the owners wife and she said don't give me any bad publicity and I'm not going to refund your money back anyway. The woman told me that I was the only customer complaining and none of her steady customers ever complained. There was only 1 or 2 other people thete the same night as i was. I should have been compensated by at least a 50 percent discount and that's not asking for much when I had nightmare of hell. I'm just leaving people know do not stay there because the bedside I crazy nothing works properly because the people from India are cheap and they call the our country the land of opportunity.. These people should be shipped back to their own country! We never have this problem with Americans only foreigners... You're better off staying right next door to the park inn.

Most not discovered until it was very late and I was not interested in moving to another room that was just as messed up. Should have read the reviews as they were all pretty bad. Not one or two bad reviews... tons of them. - Breakfast was okay. Fruit looked pretty sad. - Heater was dirty. Grime stuck to exhaust vents and filters not cleaned. - Blinds were broken. When moving them up or down, pieces of rust were falling into the window frame. - Cold air blowing in around the window. - Water stains on the wall that were rust colored. - Dry wall cracking and coming apart. - Barely can use the bathroom it is so small. When sitting on the toilet, the toilet paper holder is jammed up under your leg. - Wall hooks for jackets coming off the wall. Two out of the three fell off when I went to pull clothing off them. - Desk chair leans to the side and is broken. - Stains in the shower. Cannot tell if they are rust or mold. Maybe both. - Ceiling in bathroom crumbling. - Hook on back of bathroom door pulling out of the wood. - Bed was shot. Folded up around me when sitting or laying on it. - Stains all over the mattress pad (brown and yellow stains) as well as on the mattress cover. - Set up against a junk yard. Here are the big ones... - Box around the window was rotting and falling apart from water damage. To add to the fun, it was pulling out of the wall. Brought it to the managers attention and he blew it off. - Headboard falling off the wall. All the anchors were pulled out of the wall. The bed was propping it up. It is bad enough that it moves and the night stands lean. - No hot water. Tried to wash my hands in the evening and after ten minutes, no hot water. Just cool. Went to the front desk and manager made excuses and said I need to let it run. Went back to the room, let it run for ten more minutes, shower as well. No real change. Barely warm at all. Manager showed me water in pantry and it barely got hot. This is a food safety issue as this is where they clean the breakfast area. As of this morning, no hot water either. Water has now been running for 20 minutes. Many of the reviews going back several months indicate hot water has been a long standing issue here. Spoke with the front desk clerk in the morning and they admitted the hot water has been an issue for many months. ZERO replies from the manager.
