There are rooms on the ground floor and in a two story building. Luckily, during both of our stays we were able to get a room in the building. During our last stay the owner even asked us if we prefer the first or second floor. The room had what we needed for a quick overnight stay (fridge, coffee maker, etc.). We were greeted warmly and welcomed each time and we would gladly return again!

You will experience kids running around with their Pajamas as though is is a summer camp. The management will quiet them down for a bit and within 10-15 minutes and the noise will start again! There must have been a whole floor and a half of these teenagers running around in the hallway and talking to each other! The parents all have drinks as thought this was their personal resort. When I elevate my complain to the General Manager - her respond was that I signed an waiver agreement that quiet time was at 10pm. This was not what I expected nor the volume and totally disruption that I expected. I then requested to have one night credit to my next stay as it is one of the better accommodation that is in this town. Her best offer was a 25% off for my next stay. This is totally unacceptable. Thank God I made my reservation through Hotel.com and they refunded me my stay because I use them at least 4-6 nights a month. I then elevated my complain to the owner DON of this Franchise which to date have not heard from him! Please ask before you book....thanks!

Upon check-in I found the room was not very clean,…read morethere was a foul body door smell, someone else's food was left in the fridge, and there were dozens of flies and fruit flies the room. This motel is also used to house people "long term", many of whom were wandering around the property or sitting and smoking. The carpet in the room had obviously been wet at one point, which might be the source of the foul smell, and it was so wrinkled as to create a trip hazard. I also saw cars in the lot that looked abandoned and inoperable. I told the staff I would not stay and they did offer me a room "upgrade" and I declined after seeing the state of this place and all the people milling about. They have since refused to refund my Visa card, as I didn't "cancel by 48 hours ahead as is the policy on Booking.com. However, I explained that I could not have known the state of the motel room before I arrived. I have since learned from a past employee here that it has been used as a facility for addicts and homeless people for some time. It didn't seem like a very safe place to stay. And I am very glad that I left. Good luck to you if you book this place.

Once there are two towels, two hand towels and two face washers stacked on the one rail, everything has to be moved for use. There are no shelves or rails or hooks anywhere else in the room so when you shower you leave your clothes on the toilet lid. If you want to hang the hand towels somewhere after use, the bath towels are in the way. Considering the size of the bathroom which is adequate, another rail or hook on the door would have made the whole experience perfect. There is a no smoking sign on the door, however smoking is allowed on the balcony, evidenced by a dirty ash tray on the table in the centre. Love the quirky ceiling fan on the balcony.

Amenities such as fully appointed kitchen, indoor fireplace, bbq, comfortable beds and furniture, sat tv, and of course wifi (that worked perfect). All you need to bring is your clothes and food and you're good to go. The cabins have a nice size deck that faces the water with a fire pit just steps away. There is also a small onsite store and you can rent watercraft to get out on the lake as well. The owner seemed genuinely concerned at making our stay enjoyable yet was not intrusive in the slightest way, very considerate. I would not hesitate to recommend Fees Landing to my friends and family without a fear of disappointing anyone and will go back in the near future.

Two minor annoyances - 1. Please do as they ask and put away the phones. It is distracting for other guests 2. Don't reserve chairs by the pool for a long time by leaving your belongings there. Some folks did it for over 3 hours while we were there. So not fair to other guests. Otherwise, a wonderful spot and great staff. Note - Do take your epi pen if you are allergic to bees/wasps. There are quite a few buzzing around the pool and gardens.

After lugging our luggage through an un-shoveled walkway, arriving to the villa and unpacking our bags - the fireplace was not working - nor would the door lock - after complaining to front desk - we were moved to Villa #605 - again un-shoveled walkway, un-shoveled stairs, we were happy that our door was able to be locked. We discovered the TV and fireplace were not working in this unit either - Not wanting to pack up & switch rooms again - we settled for a 10% discount on the room The hotel staff we dealt with were very polite - The resort is overpriced in its current condition - the villa's are severely outdated and in need of repair & updating - the carpets were worn, and looked dirty, window treatments were out of date and shabby looking - visible cracks down the wall in the bedroom - the patio door looked like termites had been eating it and allowed huge draft into the dining area of the villa We ate at the onsite restaurant on the Friday night - service staff were friendly - food was not great - ordered the fish and chips - the batter of the fish was so overcooked, difficult to cut even with knife - and some of the fish inside the batter was not even cooked! Pinecrest cottages was originally a summer retreat and has been around for about 150 years ! at some point about 20 cottages were built. Currant owners Diego & Lynn have owned the property for about 6 years and have done extensive renovations to the buildings and water front area.We brought along our own boat and there was ample space at the dock, pinecrest also has plenty of rental boats of all sizes and free canoes and kayaks .The cottages were clean and comfortable with great vistas and sun sets. The fishing is great either by boat or just off the dock.The cost turned out to be less than we thought ! We enjoyed the night time fires and found the other guests to be friendly, some traveled quite a distance from areas in the U.S and one we spoke to have been visiting for over 25 years ! we had a great week and have pre booked for next year. Though our particular room was tiny, it seemed that they do a lot with the small space you get, as you get a mini fridge, a microwave, and a good selection of satellite channels. As well, it appears to be one of the lowest priced if not the lowest priced motel in Peterborough, and we were lucky that there was a room available, even though we went in the shoulder season, just after school-age students had gone back to school. It is rather minimalist in the food and drink offerings (no vending machines for food and drink), but for I and my husband, we tend to bring our own food and drink, so it was not that critical for us.
